Aza-BODIPYs represent a class of fluorophores in which the π-conjugated system is rigidified and stabilized by a boron atom. A promising strategy to enhance their fluorescence properties involves replacing the boron atom with a metal ion. Here, we describe the synthesis and characterization of a water-soluble derivative where the metal is a gallium(III) ion, termed WazaGaY (water-soluble aza-GaDIPY).

The development of new fluorescent organic probes effective in the NIR-II region is currently a fast-growing field and represents a challenge in the domain of medical imaging. In this study, we have designed and synthesized an innovative series of aza-boron dipyrromethenes emitting in the NIR-II region. We have investigated the effect of different water-solubilizing groups not only on the photophysical properties of the compounds but also on their in vitro and in vivo performance after bioconjugation to the antibody trastuzumab.

In view of inevitable recurrences despite resection, glioblastoma (GB) is still an unmet clinical need. Dealing with the stromal-cell derived factor 1-alpha (SDF-1α)/CXCR4 axis as a hallmark of infiltrative GB tumors and with the resection cavity situation, the present study described the effects and relevance of a new engineered micro-nanostructured SF-HA-Hep aerogel sponges, made of silk fibroin (SF), hyaluronic acid (HA) and heparin (Hep) and loaded with SDF-1α, to interfere with the GB ecosystem and residual GB cells, attracting and confining them in a controlled area before elimination. 70 µm-pore sponges were designed as an implantable scaffold to trap GB cells.

The role of nutritional interventions for the primary prevention of cow's milk allergy (CMA) remains debated as well as the role of early introduction of allergenic foods, which is largely encouraged from the beginning of complementary feeding. Considering the introduction of cow's milk protein (CMP), current recommendations suggest avoidance of any cow's milk formula (CMF) supplements in breastfed infants in the maternity ward. By contrast, based on poor evidence, some authors support systematic supplements of CMP in breastfed children at risk of allergy from the first week of life.

Objective: We investigated the efficacy of iliofemoral venous stenting in women of childbearing age treated for post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) and assessed the influence of pregnancy on stent occlusion.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on women of childbearing age who underwent endovascular stenting for PTS due to chronic iliocava occlusion across 15 centers from 2009 to 2020. The study assessed pregnancy rates, primary patency rates, secondary patency rates, and clinical efficacy using the Villalta score for PTS severity and the Chronic Venous Disease Quality of Life Questionnaire - version 20 (CIVIQ-20), 6-12 months after the procedure.

Increasing numbers of populations in the West are restricting their intake of meat and other animal products for reasons relating to health or ethics; in many countries, these restrictions are already common for cultural, religious, or socio-economic reasons. By following their parent's diet, children are exposed in parallel. This narrative review aims at assessing current data regarding vegetarian diets in children from birth to 18 years of age, which include, by increasing degree of restriction, flexitarian, lacto-ovo-vegetarian, lacto-vegetarian, pescatarian, vegan and macrobiotic diets.

Following intravenous administration, the interaction of fluorescent exogenous molecules with circulating endogenous transporters can influence their photophysical properties as well as their fate and distribution, and possibly their recognition by different cell types. This type of interaction can be used to optimize the drug delivery but also the imaging properties of a compound of interest. In this study, we investigated the behavior of SWIR-WAZABY-01 fluorophore, a water-soluble aza-BODIPY dye emitting in the NIR-II region, both and .

Purpose: To assess the results of endovascular treatment in a large population of patients suffering from post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) due to iliocaval occlusive disease.
Methods: In this retrospective multi-center study, 698 patients treated by stenting for PTS in 15 French centers were analyzed. Primary, primary assisted, and secondary patency rates were assessed, and clinical efficacy was evaluated using Villalta and Chronic Venous Insufficiency Questionnaire in 20 questions (CIVIQ-20) scores.

Surgery plays a major role as a first-line treatment of the different etiologies of Cushing's syndrome (CS) and bilateral adrenalectomy (BA) is extremely effective as a second line, so that there seems to be little room for medical treatment (MT). However, during the past years several drugs acting either on ACTH secretion or cortisol synthesis have been developed, so that MT of CS might be reassessed. After briefly analyzing the efficiency and tolerance of surgical and medical treatments of CS we try to distinguish consensual and controversial indications for MT.

Introduction: Respiratory tract Candida spp. colonization is associated with more frequent bacterial ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). However, this colonization could be causally related to VAP or simply reflect the immune paralysis associated with multiple organ failure.

Background: Studies of normal bone marrow (BM) cell composition by flow cytometry are scarce. Presently, we aimed to quantify 14 cell subsets from infants to elderly patients.
Methods: Cell subsets in BM samples from 180 individuals without morphologically abnormal leukocytes were analyzed using a single combination of eight antibodies: CD3/CD10/CD38/CD19/CD36/CD16/CD34/CD45.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of normal tissue complication probability (NTCP)-based radiobiological models on the estimated risk for late radiation lung damages. The second goal is to propose a medical decision-making approach to select the eligible patient for particle therapy.
Materials And Methods: Fourteen pediatric patients undergoing cranio-spinal irradiation were evaluated.

Coronary microvascular dysfunction has recently emerged as a major independent prognostic factor and can be invasively assessed by coronary flow reserve (CFR) and the index of microvascular resistance (IMR). The incremental prognostic value of myocardial ischemia from SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) over clinical characteristics, cardiac risk factors, and stress test data for the prediction of hard cardiac events (myocardial infarction and cardiac death) has been well demonstrated over the last two decades regardless of the absence or presence of epicardial CAD. Recently developed semi-conductor, cardiac-dedicated cameras allow for decreased acquisition times and systematic procubitus and decubitus acquisitions thereby limiting the occurrence of false positives historically attributable to artefactual motion, attenuation, and digestive artifacts.
