New surgical techniques for the treatment of scaphoid non-union, developed in the last two decades, now enable a healing rate of 80-90%. However, no consensus exists for the surgical treatment of non-union. On the other hand, regenerative medicine techniques have enriched the therapeutic armamentarium for non-union, especially in the lower limbs, with the use of autologous concentrated bone marrow injection using autologous osteogenic precursors to create a favorable microenvironment for bone healing.

Bilateral lesions of the basal ganglia using termocoagulation or radiation for improving tremor, bradykinesia, and rigidity in people with Parkinson's disease (PD) have been performed starting several decades ago, especially when levodopa and deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery were not available. However, because of unclear additional benefit compared to unilateral lesion, and particularly to the evidence of increased adverse events occurrence, bilateral lesions were basically abandoned at the end of the 20th century. Therefore, bilateral DBS has become the standard procedure to treat PD.

Understanding the relative contribution of various factors influencing initial severity of aphasia and recovery after a stroke is essential for optimising neurorehabilitation programmes. We investigated how various significant sociodemographic, cognitive, clinical, stroke-related and rehabilitation-related factors modulate aphasia severity and language recovery following left-hemispheric stroke. Employing an innovative method, we conducted a retrospective analysis of 96 stroke participants to explore the combined impact of these factors.

Unlabelled: We conducted a six-center, prospective, randomized, open-label trial to assess whether an early standardized educational protocol provided from 42 to 48 months of age improved the progression of oral language and phonological development in children born preterm. A total of 552 children with phonological fragility were included in this study. The children were randomized to receive the educational protocol (guided arm, = 87) or not (non-guided arm, = 78).

Background: MYC-driven lymphomas are a subset of B-cell lymphomas characterized by genetic alterations that dysregulate the expression of the MYC oncogene. When overexpressed, typically through chromosomal translocations, amplifications, or other mechanisms, MYC can drive uncontrolled cell growth and contribute to cancer development. MYC-driven lymphomas are described as aggressive entities which require intensive treatment approaches and can be associated with poor prognosis.

Objectives: SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine reactogenicity has raised concerns regarding the risk of rejection in solid organ transplant recipients. We explored whether SOT recipients diagnosed with acute rejection had previously received a vaccine injection within a timeframe consistent with a causal link.
Methods: We identified all SOT recipients with a diagnosis of acute rejection from 2020 to 2022 and who had previously received a SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, and analysed whether the delay between vaccination and rejection was constant.

Introduction: Membranous nephropathy can lead to end-stage kidney disease, for which kidney transplantation is the preferred therapy. However, the disease often relapses, which can impact allograft survival.
Methods: We conducted a prospective multicenter study in France involving 72 patients with membranous nephropathy who were awaiting and then underwent kidney transplantation.

Background: Crystalloid-based fluid resuscitation has long been a cornerstone in the initial management of trauma-induced hemorrhagic shock. However, its benefit is increasingly questioned as it is suspected to increase bleeding and worsen coagulopathy. The emergence of alternative strategies like permissive hypotension and vasopressor use lead to a shift in early trauma care practices.

Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a heterogeneous sleep disorder for which the identification of phenotypes might help for risk stratification for long-term mortality. Thus, the aim of the study was to identify distinct phenotypes of OSA and to study the association of phenotypes features with long-term mortality by using machine learning.
Methods: This retrospective study included patients diagnosed with OSA who completed a 15-year follow-up and were adherent to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.

Background: Early-life exposure to short half-life chemicals may influence adiposity growth, a precursor to obesity. Previous studies often relied on limited urine samples that inadequately represent exposure during pregnancy or infancy. Additionally, childhood adiposity is commonly estimated using body mass index, which does not accurately reflect body composition.

Background: The ever-increasing number of patients diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and treated by long-term continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) overstretches conventional follow-up pathways. New approaches to the management of CPAP-treated patient follow-up are needed to strike a balance between remote monitoring through digital technologies and in-person patient-healthcare-professional contacts. Focusing on the reshaping of the management of care pathways of CPAP-treated patients, with a specific focus on telemonitoring platforms, we aimed to review the evidence on how digital medicine and artificial intelligence (AI) tools are facilitating patient phenotyping and triage, risk stratification and the allocation of resources between the various healthcare professionals for an optimal follow-up of CPAP-treated patients.

Disproportionality analyses are the most-commonly used study design used in the post-marketing phase to detect suspected adverse drug reactions in individual case safety reports. Recent years have witnessed an exponential increase in published articles on disproportionality analyses, thanks to publicly accessible databases. Unfortunately, this trend was accompanied by concerns on lack of transparency and misinterpretation of results, both generating unjustified alarm and diluting true signals into overwhelming noise.
