The Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR) and the Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (SEIMC) have developed together Clinical Practice Guidelines (GPC) on the management of people affected by tuberculosis (TB) resistant to drugs with activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. These clinical practice guidelines include the latest updates of the SEPAR regulations for the diagnosis and treatment of drug-resistant TB from 2017 to 2020 as the starting point. The methodology included asking relevant clinical questions based on PICO methodology, a literature search focusing on each question, and a systematic and comprehensive evaluation of the evidence, with a summary of this evidence for each question.

This European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) guideline provides recommendations for the management of IgE-mediated food allergy and was developed using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluations (GRADE) approach. Following the confirmation of IgE-mediated food allergy diagnosis, allergen avoidance and dietary advice (with support of a specialised dietitian, if possible) together with the provision of a written treatment plan, education on the recognition of allergic symptoms and prescription of medication including adrenaline using an auto-injector are essential. Patients with significant anxiety and requirement for coping strategies may benefit from support from a clinical psychologist.

Atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common arrhythmia, is associated with increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Evidence indicates that rhythm control offers superior cardiovascular outcomes compared to rate control, especially when initiated early after the diagnosis of AF. Catheter ablation remains the single best therapy for AF; however, it is not free from severe complications and only a small percentage of AF patients in the Western world ultimately receive ablation.

Introduction: Immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer treatment, and Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cell therapy (CAR-T) is a groundbreaking approach. Traditional second-generation CAR-T therapies have achieved remarkable success in hematological malignancies, but there is still room for improvement, particularly in developing new targeting strategies. To address this limitation, engineering T cells with multi-target universal CARs (UniCARs) based on monomeric streptavidin has emerged as a versatile approach in the field of anti-tumor immunotherapy.

Pediatric patients with chronic conditions frequently have unmet care needs, make extensive use of healthcare services, and often encounter fragmented, non-centered care. This study aimed to analyze the differences in the utilization of primary care (PC) and hospital care (HC) services by these patients according to sex, age, and complexity and to identify associated factors. A cross-sectional study was conducted in a basic health area of Madrid, including patients under 18 years.

Many studies have shown an association of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) with incident cardiovascular diseases, particularly when comorbid with insomnia, excessive sleepiness, obesity hypoventilation syndrome, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have demonstrated that treatment of OSA with positive airway pressure devices (CPAP) improves systemic hypertension, particularly in those with resistant hypertension who are adherent to CPAP. However, large RCTs have not shown long-term benefits of CPAP on hard cardiovascular outcomes, but post hoc analyses of these RCTs have demonstrated improved hard outcomes in those who use CPAP adequately.

Donor-specific anti-HLA antibodies (DSA) are an important cause of engraftment failure and may negatively impact survival outcomes of patients receiving allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) using an HLA-mismatched allograft. The incidence of DSA varies across studies, depending on individual factors, detection or identification methods and thresholds considered clinically relevant. Although DSA testing by multiplex bead arrays remains semiquantitative, it has been widely adopted as a standard test in most transplant centers.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy is approved for the treatment of relapsed/refractory (R/R) large B cell lymphoma (LBCL). However, elderly patients might not be candidates for this therapy due to its toxicity, and criteria for candidate selection are lacking. Our aim was to analyze efficacy and toxicity results of CAR-T cell therapy in the population of patients 70 years and older as compared to those obtained in younger patients in the real-world setting.

Aims: To assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the health condition of people ≥75 years of age and on their family caregivers in Spain.
Design: Multicentric, mixed method concurrent study.
Methods: This work, which will be conducted within the primary care setting in 11 administrative regions of Spain, will include three coordinated studies with different methodologies.
Bridging therapy (BT) after leukapheresis is required in most relapsed/refractory (R/R) large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) patients receiving chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells. Bendamustine-containing regimens are a potential BT option. We aimed to assess if this agent had a negative impact on CAR-T outcomes when it was administered as BT.
