Background: Exact preoperative confirmation of the distal dural ring and intradural location of a paraclinoid internal carotid aneurysm has been an age old dilemma. This study was aimed at identifying anatomical landmarks in cases of paraclinoid aneurysms, which were relatively consistent, and would help in predicting the possibility of an extradural inaccessible location of these aneurysms for surgical clipping.
Methods: Ninety surgically managed unruptured paraclinoid aneurysms were retrospectively analyzed with preoperative computerized tomography.

Gliomas are one of the most aggressive primary brain tumors arising from neural progenitor cells. Delayed diagnosis, invasive biopsy, and diagnostic challenges stems the need for specific, minimally-invasive, and early diagnostic biomarkers. Tumor-associated (TA) autoantibodies are measurable in the biofluids long before the onset of the symptoms, suggesting their role in early diagnosis and clinical management of the patients.

Herbal medicines are widely used worldwide and much appreciated because of their fewer side effects and the ability to fight diseases at the root cause. Active 'phyto' ingredients require a scientific approach and a mechanism to distribute components at the target site for better therapeutic results. Nanotechnology, on the other hand, has created new hope for cancer treatment but is still far from being proven in clinical settings.

Hemoglobinopathies are examples of autosomal recessive disorders of human hemoglobin. Hemoglobin E (HbE) and Hemoglobin D Punjab (HbD Punjab) are two of the most common hemoglobin variants geographically spread across Asian continent. These two variants differ from normal human hemoglobin (HbA) at a single amino acid residue caused by the point mutation of β globin gene.

Background: Delayed graft function, the requirement for dialysis due to poor kidney function post-transplant, is a frequent complication of deceased donor kidney transplantation and is associated with inferior outcomes and higher costs. Intravenous fluids given during and after transplantation may affect the risk of poor kidney function after transplant. The most commonly used fluid, isotonic sodium chloride (0.

Purpose: Metformin is the most commonly prescribed drug in the management of metabolic disorders such as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and gestational diabetes in women of reproductive age. Insulin-sensitizing effect of metformin helps in improving from PCOS features such as hyperandrogenism, anovulation, and infertility. However, its ability to cross placental barrier raises concern about safety of the drug on early embryonic development.

Background: Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) drug resistance is a global concern. Moreover, multiple drug resistant (MDR), extensively drug resistant (XDR), and totally drug resistant (TDR) Mtb cases are on the rise in developing countries like India. Most of these cases are identified only 3-6 months after initiation of treatment owing to incomplete/failed clinical response and incomplete information from phenotypic drug resistance assays and/or targeted Mtb mutation analysis.

Context: Malnutrition in children is common globally and may result in both short- and long-term irreversible negative health outcomes. It is not a simple disease with single causative factor but it is a disease with multifactorial causation.
Aims: 1) To estimate prevalence of malnutrition in underfive children using "Z" score.

SG2NA, a WD40 repeat protein of the Striatin subfamily, has four splicing and one messenger RNA edit variants. It is fast emerging as a scaffold for multimeric signaling complexes with roles in tissue development and disease. The green fluorescent protein (GFP)-tagged variants of SG2NA were ectopically expressed in NIH3T3 cells and their modulation by serum and GSK3β-ERK signaling were monitored.

Background: An association between increasing anaesthetic depth and decreased postoperative survival has been shown in observational studies; however, evidence from randomised controlled trials is lacking. Our aim was to compare all-cause 1-year mortality in older patients having major surgery and randomly assigned to light or deep general anaesthesia.
Methods: In an international trial, we recruited patients from 73 centres in seven countries who were aged 60 years and older, with significant comorbidity, having surgery with expected duration of more than 2 h, and an anticipated hospital stay of at least 2 days.

Purpose: Corpus callosum (CC) is a main channel histologically for glioma spreading, downgrading the prognosis, the infiltration occurring through cellular reaction-diffusion process. Preliminary clinical trial indicates that CC's surgical interruption appreciably enhances clinical outcome. We aim to find how high-grade glioma phenomenology is reflected in CC parameters, including various 3D diffusion eigenvalues differentially, whereby this information may be utilized for planning radiotherapy and surgical intervention.

Introduction: De Quervain described tenosynovitis of first dorsal compartment more than 120 years ago. Women, particularly of 4th-5th decades, are at more risk of developing disease. Steroid injection has been described as first line of management over many decades, but it is associated with some significant complications like depigmentation of skin, atrophy of subcutaneous tissue, suppurative tenosynovitis and even tendon rupture.

The radial distribution of Plasmodium vivax malaria burden has evoked enormous concern among the global research community. In this study, we have investigated the serum proteome alterations in non-severe vivax malaria patients before and during patient recuperation starting from the early febrile to the defervescence and convalescent stages of the infection. We have also performed an extensive quantitative proteomics analysis to compare the serum proteome profiles of vivax malaria patients with low (LPVM) and moderately-high (MPVM) parasitemia with healthy community controls.
