The oncogenic role of Ladinin-1 (LAD1), an anchoring filament protein, is largely unknown. In this study, we conducted a series of studies on the oncogenic role of LAD1 in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Firstly, we analyzed the aberrant expression of LAD1 in LUAD and its correlation with patient survival, tumor immune infiltration, and the activation of cancer signaling pathways.

Hepatoblastoma is a malignant embryonal tumor with multiple differentiation modes and is the clearest liver malignancy in children. However, little is known about genetic and epigenetic events in Hepatoblastoma. Increased research has recently demonstrated, unique genetic and epigenetic events in Hepatoblastoma, providing insights into its origin and precise treatment.

Cancer patients are at high risk of infections and infection-related mortality; thereby, prompt diagnosis and precise anti-infectives treatment are critical. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of nanopore amplicon sequencing in identifying microbial agents among immunocompromised cancer patients with suspected infections. This prospective study enlisted 56 immunocompromised cancer patients with suspected infections.

Background: Glioblastoma multiforme and other solid malignancies are heterogeneous, containing subpopulations of tumor cells that exhibit stem characteristics. Oct4, also known as POU5F1, is a key transcription factor in the self-renewal, proliferation, and differentiation of stem cells. Although it has been detected in advanced gliomas, the biological function of Oct4, and transcriptional machinery maintained by the stemness of Oct4 protein-mediated glioma stem cells (GSC), has not been fully determined.

Glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs) are a highly tumorigenic cell subgroup of glioblastoma (GBM). Glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β) is considered a key hub for promoting malignant phenotypes in GBM. However, the functional relationships between GSK3β and GSCs in GBM are unclear.

Purpose: The prevalence of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) has elicited a significant focus on EGFR as a potential drug target. However, no significant clinical advancement in GBM treatment has occurred.
Methods And Materials: Bioinformatics analysis, western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry were performed to detect the expression of ZDHHC16 and genetic EGFR alterations in GBM.

Tensile properties and microstructure changes under different stress states of tempered 9Cr-F/M steel were characterized using a transmission electron microscope (TEM), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Vickers hardness tester, and tensile tester. This tempered steel has a typical lath martensite structure with only a few polygonal ferrites embedded, and MC and MX phases nucleated on the lath boundaries or within the sub-grains. At elevated temperatures, the strength of the steel decreases.

LiZrO-coated and Al-doped micro-sized monocrystalline LiMnO powder is synthesized through solid-state reaction, and the electrochemical performance is investigated as cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries. It is found that LiZrO-coated LiAlMnO delivers a discharge capacity of 110.90 mAhg with 94% capacity retention after 200 cycles at room temperature and a discharge capacity of 104.

An anisotropic plasmonic sheet-core-satellite (PSCS) superstructure can be controlled competitive binding between aptamer/MC-LR conjugation and aptamer-ssDNA hybridization. SERS nanotags can be incorporated into anisotropic plasmonic sheet-cores, , pGO/nanorods, or pGO/hollow AgCl : Au nanoplates so as to fabricate an aptasensor for "ON-OFF" detection of MC-LR toxin. Preparing a PSCS superstructure and detection of toxin can be simultaneously completed so as to simplify the detection procedure of MC-LR toxin.

Breast cancer is now the leading cause of cancer morbidity and mortality among women worldwide. Paclitaxel and anthracycline-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy is widely used for the treatment of breast cancer, but its sensitivity remains difficult to predict for clinical use. In our study, a LASSO logistic regression method was applied to develop a genomic classifier for predicting pathologic complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer.

Ferroptosis is a cell death pathway mediated by iron-dependent accumulation of lipid peroxide. However, the specific downstream molecular events of iron-dependent lipid peroxidation are yet to be elucidated. In this study, based on various spectral analyses, we have found evidence that singlet oxygen is produced through the Russell mechanism during the self-reaction of lipid peroxyl radicals generated via iron-dependent lipid peroxidation regardless of the presence of cholesterol.
