Oct4A palmitoylation modulates tumorigenicity and stemness in human glioblastoma cells.

Neuro Oncol

January 2023

Anhui Province Key Laboratory of Medical Physics and Technology; Institute of Health and Medical Technology, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hefei, China.

Background: Glioblastoma multiforme and other solid malignancies are heterogeneous, containing subpopulations of tumor cells that exhibit stem characteristics. Oct4, also known as POU5F1, is a key transcription factor in the self-renewal, proliferation, and differentiation of stem cells. Although it has been detected in advanced gliomas, the biological function of Oct4, and transcriptional machinery maintained by the stemness of Oct4 protein-mediated glioma stem cells (GSC), has not been fully determined.

Anhui Province Key Laboratory of Medical Physics and Technology; Institute of Health and Medical Technology, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, No. 350, Shushan Hu Road, 230031, Hefei, Anhui, China.

Glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs) are a highly tumorigenic cell subgroup of glioblastoma (GBM). Glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β) is considered a key hub for promoting malignant phenotypes in GBM. However, the functional relationships between GSK3β and GSCs in GBM are unclear.

Microstructures and Tensile Properties of 9Cr-F/M Steel at Elevated Temperatures.

Materials (Basel)

February 2022

Key Laboratory of Materials Physics, Institute of Solid State Physics, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hefei 230031, China.

Tensile properties and microstructure changes under different stress states of tempered 9Cr-F/M steel were characterized using a transmission electron microscope (TEM), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Vickers hardness tester, and tensile tester. This tempered steel has a typical lath martensite structure with only a few polygonal ferrites embedded, and MC and MX phases nucleated on the lath boundaries or within the sub-grains. At elevated temperatures, the strength of the steel decreases.

LiZrO-Coated Monocrystalline LiAlMnO Particles as Cathode Materials for Lithium-Ion Batteries.

Nanomaterials (Basel)

November 2021

Key Laboratory of Materials Physics, Institute of Solid State Physics, HFIPS, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hefei 230031, China.

LiZrO-coated and Al-doped micro-sized monocrystalline LiMnO powder is synthesized through solid-state reaction, and the electrochemical performance is investigated as cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries. It is found that LiZrO-coated LiAlMnO delivers a discharge capacity of 110.90 mAhg with 94% capacity retention after 200 cycles at room temperature and a discharge capacity of 104.

An anisotropic plasmonic sheet-core-satellite (PSCS) superstructure can be controlled competitive binding between aptamer/MC-LR conjugation and aptamer-ssDNA hybridization. SERS nanotags can be incorporated into anisotropic plasmonic sheet-cores, , pGO/nanorods, or pGO/hollow AgCl : Au nanoplates so as to fabricate an aptasensor for "ON-OFF" detection of MC-LR toxin. Preparing a PSCS superstructure and detection of toxin can be simultaneously completed so as to simplify the detection procedure of MC-LR toxin.

December 2021

Anhui Province Key Laboratory of Medical Physics and Technology, Institute of Health and Medical Technology, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hefei, China.

Breast cancer is now the leading cause of cancer morbidity and mortality among women worldwide. Paclitaxel and anthracycline-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy is widely used for the treatment of breast cancer, but its sensitivity remains difficult to predict for clinical use. In our study, a LASSO logistic regression method was applied to develop a genomic classifier for predicting pathologic complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer.

Generation of singlet oxygen via iron-dependent lipid peroxidation and its role in Ferroptosis.

Fundam Res

January 2022

State Key Laboratory of Electroanalytical Chemistry, Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science, Changchun, Jilin 130022, China.

Ferroptosis is a cell death pathway mediated by iron-dependent accumulation of lipid peroxide. However, the specific downstream molecular events of iron-dependent lipid peroxidation are yet to be elucidated. In this study, based on various spectral analyses, we have found evidence that singlet oxygen is produced through the Russell mechanism during the self-reaction of lipid peroxyl radicals generated via iron-dependent lipid peroxidation regardless of the presence of cholesterol.
