Systemic profiling of the PCNSL tumor microenvironment (TME) was previously conducted through gene expression analysis. Safety of Oral Food Challenges for Individuals with Low Levels of Cow's Milk-Specific Immunoglobulin E Antibodies.

Introduction: Cow's milk (CM) is one of the most common food allergens in Japan. The oral food challenge (OFC) of CM is important for the definite diagnosis of children with CM allergy, and it is recommended to be actively and safely performed in individuals with low CM-sIgE levels. This study aimed to investigate the safety of low-dose CM-OFC in individuals with low CM-sIgE levels and discuss the prognostic factors and appropriate approaches for assessing the starting doses of CM-OFC in these individuals.

Textbook outcome contributes to long-term prognosis in elderly patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Purpose: Textbook outcome (TO) is a composite quality measurement of outcomes for evaluating surgical procedures. We investigated whether TO can be used to predict outcomes after curative resection for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in elderly patients.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 105 patients who underwent curative esophagectomy for ESCC from 2005 to 2020.

Background: Total body water (TBW) fraction, which accounts for 60% of body weight, is an important indicator of body composition, and the extracellular water to TBW ratio (ECW/TBW) is reportedly useful in predicting clinical outcomes of patients with organ disorders. We aimed to clarify the clinical impact of preoperative ECW/TBW status on survival outcomes in cancer patients.

A 77-year-old male patient underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy at his family doctor, and an easily hemorrhagic depressed lesion was noted near the anterior wall of the gastric antrum. A biopsy revealed moderately differentiated tubular adenocarcinoma > poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma, and the patient was referred to our department for further examination. A 15-mm 0-IIc lesion is seen near the anterior wall of the gastric antrum and narrow band imaging magnifying endoscopy revealed obscured glandular duct structures and corkscrew pattern vascular structures.

Cronkhite-Canada syndrome (CCS) is a rare disease characterized by gastrointestinal polyposis, skin pigmentation, alopecia, and abnormal nailfolds. Although colorectal cancer has been reported in patients with CCS, reports are limited regarding the effectiveness of the usage of image-enhanced endoscopy in CCS lesions. Here, we report a case of CCS in which narrow-band imaging (NBI) magnifying endoscopy was applied to detect an adenomatous component in multiple hamartomatous polyps.

Emerging evidence of immunotherapy for colorectal cancer.

Since the advent of immune checkpoint inhibitors, which modulate the interplay between the tumor cell and immune system, immunotherapy has become widely recognized as a new standard treatment for cancers including microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) colorectal cancer. Immune checkpoint inhibitors such as pembrolizumab and nivolumab (anti-PD-1 antibodies) that act in the effector phase of T cells and ipilimumab (anti-CTLA-4 antibody) that acts mainly in the priming phase are now in clinical use. These antibodies have shown therapeutic efficacy in MSI colorectal cancer patients who have failed to respond to existing standard therapies.
