Aspiration pneumonia accounts for a significantly higher proportion of pneumonia cases in Japan than in Western countries. We conducted a scoping review of the criteria for diagnosing aspiration pneumonia in the literature on aspiration pneumonia reported from Japan, where the incidence of aspiration pneumonia is higher than in Europe and the United States. We searched MEDLINE and the Cochrane Library as literature databases.

This study investigated the effects of partially hydrolyzed guar gum (PHGG) on the development of pulmonary arterial hypertension using a SU5416/hypoxia rat model. Our results demonstrated that PHGG treatment suppressed the development of pulmonary hypertension and vascular remodeling with an altered gut microbiota composition.

Context: Elucidating the effects of leachates from composite resins (CRs) on cells by examining the transcription level of detoxification genes and the antioxidant-responsive element (ARE), would be helpful in clinical practice.

Aims: The aim of the study is to investigate the cytotoxicity of commercially available CRs, we used a reporter assay system to evaluate intracellular stress based on ARE-mediated transcription.

Setting And Design: The study design was an study.

When cetuximab is used, diagnosing finger metastasis can be difficult due to the side effects of paronychia and color changes of nails. Finger metastasis may be a marker of multiple metastasis; therefore, it can lead to a poor prognosis.

Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is an inherited bone disease caused by mutation of the alkaline phosphatase, biomineralization associated (ALPL) gene and is characterized by bone hypomineralization and/or early exfoliation of primary teeth. Dental manifestations can lead to the diagnosis of milder types of HPP. The purpose of this paper is to report the case of two patients with growth and development problems who were referred to a dental clinic due to early exfoliation of primary teeth and were subsequently diagnosed with childhood HPP with bone symptoms.

Dietary intake of ω3 polyunsaturated fatty acids such as eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid is beneficial for health control. We recently identified 17,18-epoxyeicosatetraenoic acid (17,18-EpETE) as a lipid metabolite endogenously generated from eicosapentaenoic acid that exhibits potent anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory properties. However, chemically synthesized 17,18-EpETE is enantiomeric due to its epoxy group-17(),18()-EpETE and 17(),18()-EpETE.

Background: In our department, patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC)received preoperative chemotherapy containing S-1 to prevent the growth and dissemination of tumors during the waiting time before definitive surgery. We retrospectively evaluated the usefulness of this treatment.

Patients And Methods: One hundred and five patients comprising stages T1(26), T2(64), T3(7), and T4(8 cases)were enrolled in this study from July 2001 to June 2013.

Chondrocytes, which are originated from undifferentiated mesenchymal stem cells, play roles in skeletal development and growth in mammal, and smooth movement of joints. Endochondral ossification is necessary for skeletal development, and the multiple and complex biological events are precisely regulated by several hormones, cytokines, and their downstream signaling and transcriptional regulation. On the other hands, articular chondrocytes physiologically retains their features during a lifetime.

Capillary polymer electrophoresis is identified as a promising technology for the analysis of DNA from bacteria, virus and cell samples. In this paper, we propose an innovative capillary polymer electrophoresis protocol for the quantification of polymerase chain reaction products. The internal standard method was modified and applied to capillary polymer electrophoresis.

Hydroxyapatite (HA) or calcium carbonate (CaCO3) formed on an organic polymer of agarose gel is a biomaterial that can be used for bone tissue regeneration. However, in critical bone defects, the regeneration capability of these materials is limited. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent cells that can differentiate into bone forming osteoblasts.
