Early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC), recognized as a distinct subgroup with an increased incidence over the past two decades, characterized by its aggressive nature and potentially unique molecular factors that differentiate it from traditional colorectal cancer (CRC). In this study, we investigated differentially expressed genes in a young-CRC patient using paired-end mRNA-sequencing. Validation of target genes through qRT-PCR highlighted a significant increase in SERPINA3 levels in EOCRC, representing a novel finding.

Background/aims: Past few decades have seen major revisions in the Tuberculosis (TB) control programs time and again with a goal to strengthen the delivery of services and achieve elimination of the disease. Daily Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course (DOTS) Fixed dose combination (FDC) was one such major leap and aimed to simplify the treatment regimen, reduce pill burden, avoid drug monotherapy, improve compliance, reduce chances of drug resistance, decrease stigma and make the treatment more patient friendly. We intended to study the impact and acceptance of this changed FDC daily DOTS at the grass root level.

Purpose: Trichosporon species are emerging human pathogens, accounting for the second most common cause of non-candidal mycosis. Rapid and reliable identification of these agents allows a better understanding of their epidemiology and therapeutic management. The Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization-Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) technique has the potential to be precise, fast and cost-effective.

Background: There is enough empirical literature suggesting impairments in neuropsychological functioning in patients with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) despite inconsistencies.

Aim: The aim of the index study was to study the effect of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) on neuropsychological functions and illness severity in drug-naïve subjects with OCD.

Methods: A total of 50 subjects with diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive disorder (DSM-5) in the age range of 18-55 years, drug naïve, without comorbid depression/anxiety disorders were randomized to receive either Sertraline or Fluvoxamine.

Gastro-inestinal stromal tumours (GISTs) comprise 1-2% of all gastrointestinal (GI) tumours. The mesentery, retroperitoneum and omentum are common sites of extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumours (E-GISTs). Isolated involvement of the mesentery by tuberculosis (TB) without any evidence of pulmonary disease is quite unusual.

Night shifts at work is the most frequent reasons for circadian rhythm disruption and subsequent psychological and physiological disturbances, especially increased risk of cardiovascular and respiratory ailments compared to daytime workers. Alternate nostril breathing for about 15 minutes was known to have effect over cardiac, respiratory parameters and muscle strength. Hence aim is of interest to assess the effects of alternate nostril breathing (ANB) on cardio-respiratory parameters and muscle strength among the rotating shift workers in the tertiary care hospital.
