Early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC), recognized as a distinct subgroup with an increased incidence over the past two decades, characterized by its aggressive nature and potentially unique molecular factors that differentiate it from traditional colorectal cancer (CRC). In this study, we investigated differentially expressed genes in a young-CRC patient using paired-end mRNA-sequencing. Validation of target genes through qRT-PCR highlighted a significant increase in SERPINA3 levels in EOCRC, representing a novel finding.

Indian J Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg

December 2024

Department of Surgical Oncology, Madras Medical College, Rajiv Gandhi Govt. General Hospital, Chennai, Tamil Nadu India.

Marginal mandibulectomy is indicated for oral cavity squamous cell carcinomas that involve floor of mouth, abut or minimally erode the mandible without gross invasion. Successful outcomes after Marginal mandibulectomy is predicated on accurate patient selection and appropriate adjuvant treatment based on specific host and tumor characteristics. To study the onclogical outcomes in terms of loco-regional recurrence free survival and disease specific survival of marginal mandibulectomy done for oral squamous cell carcinomas.

Aim: Polmacoxib, a new COX-2 inhibitor with carbonic anhydrase (CA) inhibitory action, is expected to help minimize the adverse effects associated with other NSAIDs, like GI (gastrointestinal) and CV (cardiovascular) system- related issues. The comparative efficacy and safety of polmacoxib 2 mg (manufactured by Hetero Labs Limited) versus celecoxib 200 mg (manufactured by Hetero Labs Limited) were assessed in this randomized, double-anonymous, clinical study in Indian adult patients diagnosed with idiopathic osteoarthritis (OA) of the.

Patients & Methodology: 18 years and older patients of either sex, clinically and radiographically diagnosed idiopathic knee or hip OA were randomized to receive either polmacoxib or celecoxib in a 1:1 ratio.

Here, we present a pleiotropic nanomedicine-a smart, functionalized redox buffering nanoparticle-that may be used to treat hematological diseases, associated splenic hyperplasia, and issues related to restricted erythropoiesis. With a diameter of 5-7 nm, the spherical nanomaterial is made of manganese oxide and citrate. Here, we have produced the novel nanomaterial and, using cutting-edge electron microscopic and spectroscopic techniques, extensively assessed its redox buffering potential in vitro with its structural integrity.

The escalating challenge of antimicrobial resistance necessitates the development of novel antibacterial agents. In this study, a series of five vanillin Schiff bases (SB-1 to SB-5) were synthesized from vanillin and various aromatic amines. The chemical structures of these compounds were characterized using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance ( -NMR), carbon-13 NMR ( -NMR), and mass spectrometry techniques.

Background And Objectives: Coagulase-negative-Staphylococci (CoNS) are important etiological agent of bacteraemia in newborn babies. Methicillin resistant CoNS infections have only limited treatment options. The antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of Methicillin Resistant CoNS isolates from newborn blood cultures was studied with special reference to MICs of Vancomycin and Teicoplanin.

Background: Wilson's disease (WD) results from pathogenic ATP7B gene variations, causing copper accumulation mainly in the liver, brain, and kidneys.

Objectives: In India, despite studies on ATP7B variants, WD often goes undiagnosed, with the prevalence, carrier rate, and mutation spectrum remaining unknown.

Methods: A multicenter study examined genetic variations in WD among individuals of Indian origin via whole exome sequencing.

This study explores new anti-inflammatory agents by synthesizing pyrazoline-pyridine hybrids with N-butylsulfonated covalent organic framework (COF-SOH) as a recyclable catalyst, achieving excellent yields in just one minute. The protocol was successfully scaled up to a multi-gram scale, highlighting its robustness and efficiency, and it operates without the need for column chromatography. Among the synthesized hybrids, compound 5d, a pyrazoline-pyridine hybrid bearing an indole moiety, emerged as a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant agent.

Hereditary Angioedema Attacks in Patients Receiving Long-Term Prophylaxis: A Systematic Review.

Clin Rev Allergy Immunol

December 2024

Grenoble Alpes University, CNRS, UMR 5525, VetAgro Sup, Grenoble INP, National Reference Center for Angioedema (CREAK), CHU Grenoble Alpes, TIMC, Grenoble, France.

Long-term prophylaxis (LTP) has been shown to reduce the frequency of hereditary angioedema (HAE) attacks; however, attacks occurring in patients receiving LTP have not been well characterized. The objective of this systematic review was to evaluate the proportion of type I/II HAE (HAE-C1INH) patients who experience attacks while receiving LTP, the characteristics of these attacks, and associated on-demand therapy use. A systematic search was conducted in PubMed to identify studies reporting LTP use with plasma-derived C1 inhibitor (pdC1INH), lanadelumab, berotralstat, androgens, or antifibrinolytics in patients with HAE-C1INH.

Background: Mitochondria could be an important target for ultraviolet radiation (UVR)-induced skin damage. Therefore, protecting mitochondria using mitochondria-targeted antioxidants may protect skin from UV-induced photodamage.

Methods: In the present study, UVR-induced skin damage model was developed by irradiating male Wistar rats with UVB at a dose of 120 mJ/cm, twice a week for a period of 5 weeks.

Obesity is associated with dysfunctional electrocardiographic and cardiac autonomic parameters, which may lead to increased cardiovascular morbidity. Novel electrocardiographic repolarization markers such as Tpeak-Tend (Tpe) interval have not yet been deeply studied in obese patients. We aimed to investigate the association between ventricular repolarization parameters and heart rate variability (HRV) and how they are affected by changes occurring in the cardiac autonomic nervous system.
