Background: Arterial anastomoses are still most commonly performed using orthodox hand sewing technique. Various rationale such as non-pliable, atherosclerotic, thick-walled or irradiated vessels limit the competency of coupler devices for arterial micro-anastomosis. Microvascular coupling devices (MCD) are well known for venous anastomoses but arterial MCD have relatively been less navigated in reported literatures.

Background: It is important to study the clinical profile of pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and assess various prognostic factors implicated in response to induction chemotherapy for optimal treatment outcomes in India. The present study was done to evaluate the clinical profile and to find the correlation of day 7 and day 28 marrow blast response with already established prognostic factors in children with ALL in the region of North India using MCP 841 protocol for all patients.
Methods: A total of 60 children up to ages 14 years with ALL were given treatment in the form of induction remission (MCP-841 protocol) I1 cycle (induction 1) therapy for 29 days.

Background: Obesity-related factors such as adipokines, insulin, insulin-like growth factors, and sex steroid hormones have been reported to be involved in breast carcinogenesis. Studies across the world suggest an important, but still controversial, role of obesity in breast cancer risk. This study aims to evaluate the association of obesity-related factors such as adipokines, insulin, insulin resistance, and sex steroid hormones with breast cancer risk in the Indian population.

The presence of symptoms after an acute SARS-CoV-2 infection (long-COVID) has become a worldwide healthcare emergency but remains underestimated and undertreated due to a lack of recognition of the condition and knowledge of the underlying mechanisms. In fact, the prevalence of post-COVID symptoms ranges from 50% during the first months after the infection up to 20% two-years after. This perspective review aimed to map the existing literature on post-COVID symptoms and to identify gaps in the literature to guide the global effort toward an improved understanding of long-COVID and suggest future research directions.

In the continued battle against one of the oldest enemies known to mankind, , the emergence of drug resistance to antituberculosis drugs among children poses multiple challenges for early detection and treatment. Molecular diagnostics and newer drugs like bedaquiline and delamanid have strengthened the armamentarium and helped design convenient, safe, and child-friendly therapeutic regimens against drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB). Preventive strategies like treatment of TB infection among children living in close contact with patients with drug-resistant TB and effective vaccines against TB are currently in the investigative stages of development and implementation.

Heavy metals are capable of inducing toxicity even at lower levels and the contamination adversely impact humans, animals, and plants thus, resulting in variety of health issues. Thus, the present study investigated the presence of metals in the serum of mothers (n = 77) having Down syndrome children and healthy control mothers (n = 86) and the possible association of heavy metals with genotype. We found that increased levels of cobalt were significantly associated with MTHFR 677 C>T, RFC 80 A>G, and CBS844ins68 polymorphisms in cases.

Objective: DNA methylation data can be used to derive mitotic indices from complex tissues. Here, we assessed if the DNA methylation-derived mitotic ageing indices are associated with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) development and recurrence-free survival (RFS).
Methods: DNA methylation-based mitotic indices (MitoticAge, TNSC and hypoSC) were derived using algorithms "MitoticAge" and "epiTOC2" for the discovery [non-malignant (n = 22), premalignant (n = 22) and OSCC (n = 68) tissues] and validation datasets (GSE87053, GSE136704 and TCGA-HNSCC).
