Molecular Biology & Clinical Neuroscience Division, National Neurosciences Centre, Calcutta, Peerless Hospital (2nd floor), 360, Panchasayar, Kolkata, 700094, India.

The circadian variation in stroke occurrence is a well-documented phenomenon. However, the circadian effect on stroke outcome, particularly on post-stroke cognition, has not yet been fully elucidated. We aim to evaluate the influence of diurnal variation of stroke onset upon post-stroke cognition and development of post-stroke depression.

The technological revolutions in computers and the advancement of high-throughput screening technologies have driven the application of artificial intelligence (AI) for faster discovery of drug molecules with more efficiency, and cost-friendly finding of hit or lead molecules. The ability of software and network frameworks to interpret molecular structures' representations and establish relationships/correlations has enabled various research teams to develop numerous AI platforms for identifying new lead molecules or discovering new targets for already established drug molecules. The prediction of biological activity, ADME properties, and toxicity parameters in early stages have reduced the chances of failure and associated costs in later clinical stages, which was observed at a high rate in the tedious, expensive, and laborious drug discovery process.

Article Synopsis
  • - BPA disrupts pancreatic islet function by interacting with estrogen receptors and activating the aryl hydrocarbon receptor, suggesting potential toxic effects on insulin regulation.
  • - In experiments, treating isolated pancreatic islet cells and live mice with BPA demonstrated that AhR plays a critical role in BPA's impact on insulin release and cell viability, with antagonists for both AhR and ER mitigating these effects.
  • - The study suggests that targeting both AhR and ER could be a therapeutic strategy to counteract the negative effects of BPA, particularly regarding insulin dysfunction and related diabetic conditions.

Chronic wounds place a heavy burden on healthcare systems and markedly reduce the ability of patients to engage in activities of daily living. One major factor contributing to impaired wound healing is bacterial bioburden. With the rise in antibiotic resistance and the slowdown in antibiotic development pipelines, alternative antimicrobial strategies are important.
