Background: Effective interprofessional education (IPE) can facilitate teamwork between dentists and dental technicians, thereby enabling the efficient provision of high-quality dental care.
Objective: This study aimed to design and assess an IPE module named Project 35, which was offered to dental and dental technology students early in their undergraduate training as a precursor to a more comprehensive IPE curriculum in dentistry and dental technology.
Methods: Leveraging positive behavior support (PBS) theory, Project 35 was devised as an innovation and entrepreneurship educational training framework.

Background: Current methods for oral health workforce planning lack responsiveness to dynamic needs, hampering efficiency, equity and sustainability. Effective workforce planning is vital for resilient health care systems and achieving universal health coverage. Given this context, we developed and operationalised a needs-adaptive oral health workforce planning model and explored the potential of various future scenarios.

The aim of this investigation was to assess bleaching sensitivity following bleaching using either 38% HO only or 38% HO followed by ozone application. In this randomized controlled clinical investigation, 80 participants (40 females and 40 males) were randomly assigned to two groups ( = 40 each; 20 females and 20 males). The upper anterior teeth were bleached by 38% HO for 20 min followed by ozone application for 60 s (healOzone X4, KaVo Dental, Biberach, Germany) in Group 1 (test group).

Purpose: Newborn screening using dried blood spot (DBS) samples for the targeted measurement of metabolites and nucleic acids has made a substantial contribution to public healthcare by facilitating the detection of neonates with genetic disorders. Here, we investigated the applicability of non-targeted quantitative proteomics analysis to newborn screening for inborn errors of immunity (IEIs).
Methods: DBS samples from 40 healthy newborns and eight healthy adults were subjected to non-targeted proteomics analysis using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry after removal of the hydrophilic fraction.

Background: Phytochemicals possess a wide range of anti-tumor properties, including the modulation of autophagy and regulation of programmed cell death. Autophagy is a critical process in cellular homeostasis and its dysregulation is associated with several pathological conditions, such as cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and diabetes. In cancer, autophagy plays a dual role by either promoting tumor growth or suppressing it, depending on the cellular context.

IgA nephropathy (IgAN), the most common primary glomerulonephritis, is considered an intractable disease with unknown pathogenic factors. In our previous study, Streptococcus mutans, the major causative bacteria of dental caries, which expresses Cnm, was related to the induction of IgAN-like nephritis. In the present study, the Cnm-positive S.

Background: Bisphenol A (BPA) is an endocrine disrupting chemical released from plastic materials, including food packaging and dental sealants, persisting in the environment and ubiquitously contaminating ecosystems and human populations. BPA can elicit an array of damaging health effects and, alarmingly, 'BPA-free' alternatives mirror these harmful effects. Bisphenol exposure can negatively impact female fertility, damaging both the ovary and oocytes therein.

Background: Precancerous and malignant tumours arise within the oral cavity from a predisposed "field" of epithelial cells upon exposure to carcinogenic stimulus. This phenomenon is known as "Field Cancerization". The molecular genomic and transcriptomic alterations that lead to field cancerization and tumour progression is unknown in Indian Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) patients.

Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have shown that attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) medications significantly reduce symptomatology at a group level, but individual response to ADHD medication is variable. Thus, developing prediction models to stratify treatment according to individual baseline clinicodemographic characteristics is crucial to support clinical practice. A potential valuable source of data to develop accurate prediction models is real-world clinical data extracted from electronic healthcare records (EHRs).

Introduction: This work describes a secondary analysis of a qualitative data set originally used to understand parent participants' preferences for the design and implementation of a screening programme for paediatric Type 1 diabetes (T1D). From this, their spontaneous preferences for peer support emerged, described here in the context of existing peer support programmes for the newly diagnosed alongside suggestions for their incorporation into screening programmes for T1D and a range of other conditions.
Methods: Data were collected from semi-structured interviews conducted with parents of children aged 3-13 years to explore their expectations, perceptions and preferences of a T1D paediatric screening programme.

Participant recruitment is one of the most challenging aspects of a clinical trial, directly impacting both the study's duration and the quality of its results. Therefore, reporting successful recruitment strategies is crucial. This study aimed to document the recruitment tactics and experiences of a research team during a university-based randomized clinical trial, conducted as part of a clinical research immersion program.

Genome sequencing of strain LM41 revealed the presence of an atypically high proportion of mobile genetic elements for this species, with a particularly high abundance of prophages. Bioinformatic analysis of prophage sequences sought to characterize these elements and identify prophage-linked genes contributing to enhanced fitness of the host bacteria in the dysbiotic gut. Using PHASTER, PhageScope and manual curation, this work has identified 15 prophages: 4 predicted to be intact, 2 predicted to be defective and 9 which are unclassified.

Aim: To study the use of a quasi-experimental design to assess the effects of scaling reimbursement policies on the incidence of chronic-periodontitis procedures.
Materials And Methods: Interrupted time series analysis was used to compare the effects before and after policy implementation using data on the number of periodontitis-related procedures from the Korean National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort (n = 740,467) and the Health Screening Cohort (n = 337,904). Periodontitis-related procedures with diagnosis codes were categorized into basic (scaling or root planing), intermediate (subgingival curettage) and advanced (tooth extraction, periodontal flap surgery, bone grafting for alveolar bone defects or guided tissue regeneration).

Introduction: Oral diseases are more prevalent in people with severe mental illness (SMI) compared to those without mental illnees. A greater focus on oral health is needed to reverse unacceptable but often neglected oral health inequality in people with SMI. This provided the impetus for developing 'The Right to Smile' consensus statement.

Introduction: The adoption of remote healthcare methods has been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, but evidence suggests that some patients need additional support to engage remotely, potentially increasing health disparities if needs are not met. This study of COVID-19 remote home monitoring services across England explores experiences of and engagement with the service across different patient groups.
Methods: This was a mixed-methods study with survey and interview data collected from 28 services across England between February and June 2021.

Addressing current challenges in solid tumor research requires advanced in vitro three-dimensional (3D) cellular models that replicate the inherently 3D architecture and microenvironment of tumor tissue, including the extracellular matrix (ECM). However, tumor cells exert mechanical forces that can disrupt the physical integrity of the matrix in long-term 3D culture. Therefore, it is necessary to find the optimal balance between cellular forces and the preservation of matrix integrity.

Monitoring mitochondrial function and mitochondrial quality control in tissues is a crucial aspect of understanding cellular health and dysfunction, which may inform about the pathogenesis of several conditions associated with aging, including chronic inflammatory conditions, neurodegenerative disorders and metabolic diseases. This process involves assessing the functionality, integrity, and abundance of mitochondria within cells. Several lines of evidence have explored techniques and methods for monitoring mitochondrial quality control in tissues.
