Purpose: Online resources are increasingly being utilised by patients to guide their clinical decision making, as an alternative or supplement to the traditional clinical-patient relationship. YouTube is an online repository of user and community generated videos, which is one of the most popular websites globally. We undertook a study to examine the quality of information presented in YouTube videos related to tonsillectomy.

Polatuzumab vedotin (Pola) is an approved therapy in combination with rituximab and bendamustine for relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (RR-DLBCL) based on positive results of the landmark phase II randomised G029365 trial. However, trial results for many approved novel therapies in RR-DLBCL have not been replicated in routine care cohorts, as RR-DLBCL patient populations are heterogeneous and trial eligibility is increasingly restrictive. We evaluated outcomes from pola ± bendamustine and rituximab in patients with RR-DLBCL enrolled in a compassionate access program with no alternative treatment options identified via the Australasian Lymphoma and Related Diseases Registry according to their eligibility for the original phase II published study.

Introduction: In the current American Joint Committee on Cancer staging system, patients with pelvic nodal metastases are considered stage IV prostate cancer. This study aims to investigate whether men with prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography (PSMA PET)-detected pelvic node-positive prostate cancer at diagnosis have a better outcome compared to men with node-positive disease identified on conventional imaging.
Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study comparing the outcomes of men with node-positive prostate cancer and disease confined to the pelvis, staged with conventional versus PSMA PET imaging.

Here we present a case of complement-mediated thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) in a patient who has a background of Stage 5 chronic kidney disease secondary to Alport syndrome. We explain our approach to the diagnosis of TMA, especially the reliance on non-renal manifestations of TMA and the role of kidney biopsy given there was a background of advanced kidney impairment at baseline.

Aims: Despite relatively favourable outcomes associated with IDH-mutant grade 3 gliomas, many patients present with diffuse non-enhancing disease involving multiple brain regions, prompting concern over both durable disease control and the morbidity associated with large volume radiation therapy. This study audits volumetric response, survival and functional outcomes in this 'large volume' subgroup that undergoes intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).
Materials And Methods: From a prospective database of 187 patients with IDH-mutant grade 3 gliomas managed with IMRT between 2008 and 2020, recorded PTV was divided into quartiles.

Purpose: There remains no standard of care for patients with recurrent and chemorefractory glioblastoma. Re-irradiation (reRT) provides an additional management option. However, published series predominantly focus on small reRT volumes utilizing stereotactic hypofractionated regimens.

Atherosclerotic coronary artery disease (CAD) is the causal pathological process driving most major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) worldwide. The complex development of atherosclerosis manifests as intimal plaque which occurs in the presence or absence of traditional risk factors. There are numerous effective medications for modifying CAD but new pharmacologic therapies require increasingly large and expensive cardiovascular outcome trials to assess their potential impact on MACE and to obtain regulatory approval.

The delivery of a dementia diagnosis, the information provided, and the practical advice and support arranged can have a long-lasting impact on patients and their families and deserves attention equal to that given to the assessment and investigation process. Patients and their families need a constructive yet sensitive conversation about the nature and cause of their difficulties, communicated in plain language, and tailored to their main concerns and needs. This conversation should lead to the provision of high-quality, easily accessible information.

Primary neurolymphomatosis is the direct infiltration of lymphomatous neoplastic cells into nerve roots and/or peripheral nerves. A 67-year-old man had a 24-month history of progressive and severe left lower limb neuropathic pain, ipsilateral ankle dorsiflexion weakness and gait disturbance. Gadolinium-enhanced MRI showed thickening and enhancement of the cauda equina, L5, S1 and S2 nerve roots.

This retrospective cohort study aims to assess whether the implementation of a multidisciplinary approach in the Gosford Hospital High-Risk Foot Clinic improved outcomes of diabetic foot ulcers. Ulceration is a common foot complication of diabetes mellitus and greatly increases patient morbidity and mortality. Patients who attended at least one appointment at the Gosford Hospital High-Risk Foot Clinic in 2017 or 2019 were identified through the Gosford Hospital Podiatry department's records.

As our understanding of genetics in cancer care improves, the role of personalised medicine for patients continues to grow. With the increasing emergence of novel technologies for patient assessment, such as the evaluation of circulating tumour DNA, we must reflect on the potentially changing role that medical imaging will play in the future of optimal patient care.

Background: Colorectal cancer is the second most common cause of cancer mortality in Australia (1). The National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP) aims to reduce mortality through early detection with a biennial faecal occult blood test for Australians aged 50-74 years (2). Modelling predicted COVID-19 would reduce participation and delay colonoscopies despite the NBCSP continuing during the pandemic (3).

Arsenic trioxide is an essential component of therapy for acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL) and is currently dosed on actual body weight with no upper limit. Arsenic-induced neurotoxicity is a well-recognised complication; however, there is uncertainty about its relationship to arsenic dose and obesity. We conducted a large multicentre retrospective study of 487 patients with APL treated with arsenic-based therapy across 23 sites in Australia from 2008 to 2023.

Background: The need for better end-of-life care for people with dementia has been acknowledged. Existing literature suggests that people dying with dementia have less access to palliative care, yet little is known about the care provided to people with dementia at the end of life. This study aimed to establish evidence related to end-of-life care for people dying with dementia in hospital compared to other settings.
