In the acute stage of stroke, stress hyperglycemia is common in both diabetic and nondiabetic patients. The associations between stress hyperglycemia and functional outcomes, as well as stroke recurrence were heterogeneous in previous studies. We aimed to demonstrate these associations in a general population of patients with ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA).

Patients And Methods: A total of 165 Chinese Han adults undergoing atorvastatin therapy were enrolled in this study and followed up quarterly.

Deep source transfer learning for the estimation of internal brain dynamics using scalp EEG.

Electroencephalography (EEG) provides high temporal resolution neural data for brain-computer interfacing via noninvasive electrophysiological recording. Estimating the internal brain activity by means of source imaging techniques can further improve the spatial resolution of EEG and enhance the reliability of neural decoding and brain-computer interaction. In this work, we propose a novel EEG data-driven source imaging scheme for precise and efficient estimation of macroscale spatiotemporal brain dynamics across thalamus and cortical regions with deep learning methods.

Medication therapy management (MTM) includes various clinical pharmacy services that greatly influence society and economy. Despite extensive research in recent years, there is currently a lack of bibliometric analysis on this subject. Articles and reviews on MTM published from 2003 to 2023 were identified and selected from the Web of Science Core Collection.

Prevalence and Correlators of Anxiety and Depression in Premature Coronary Artery Disease.

Purpose: The present study assessed the correlation between anxiety and depression in young and middle-aged Chinese patients with coronary artery disease (CAD).

Patients And Methods: This study included 313 patients diagnosed with premature CAD at the Department of Cardiology between January and July 2023. The Zung Self-Rating Anxiety/Depression Scale (SAS/SDS) was used as a standardized scale to assess mental health symptoms.

Prognostic value of the systemic inflammation response index on 3-year outcomes of elderly patients with acute coronary syndrome after stent implantation.

Background: Few studies have focused on the relationship between the systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) and the prognosis of elderly patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of the SIRI for predicting 3-year outcomes in patients >60 years old after stent implantation and to assess variables associated with SIRI.

Material And Methods: A total of 1,758 patients with ACS who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) were enrolled and divided into an older group (n = 960) and a younger group (n = 798) using a cutoff of >60 years.

Establishment of RNA modification regulators index predicting clinical outcomes and immune relevance of kidney cancer patients.

Increasing evidence indicates that RNA modifications are misregulated in human cancers, which might be optimal targets of cancer therapy. However, important RNA regulators in kidney cancer still need further exploration. In this study, we collected regulators representing different types of RNA modification and identified the prognosis-related RNA regulators in kidney cancer patients.

An infant with trisomy 9 and partial trisomy 12 derived from maternal balanced translocation: A case report and literature review.

We present here, a case of a neonate with an unbalanced chromosomal translocation due to a maternal chromosomal translocation carriage that resulted in the presence of trisomy 9p combined with a partial trisomy 12p. Karyotype analysis was performed using conventional cytogenetic chromosomal analysis using the GTG-banding technique. The mother was a carrier of a balanced chromosomal translocation of 46, XX, t(9;12)(q13;p11.

Association between residential environment quality with mild cognitive impairment among middle and elderly adults in China.

Background: Most studies have focused on the effects of individual environmental risk factors on cognitive function; however, none have evaluated the association between residential environmental quality and cognitive impairment.

Methods: Data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) were used to include 12,801 participants in a cross-sectional study and 8781 participants in a cohort study. Residential environmental quality was assessed using indicators such as particulate matter, types of household fuel, water sources, indoor temperature, and building types.

Association between microplastics in human amniotic fluid and pregnancy outcomes: Detection and characterization using Raman spectroscopy and pyrolysis GC/MS.

Microplastic contamination has emerged as a global environmental concern, while the limitation of single-technique identification methods in complex biological matrices calls for multi-analytical approaches for accurate microplastic detection. This study pioneers a dual-method approach, combining Raman spectroscopy and pyrolysis gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS), to investigate microplastics in human amniotic fluid. In total, samples from 48 pregnant women were collected and analyzed under stringent quality control measures, then Raman spectroscopy and Py-GC/MS were employed for comprehensive polymer identification and verification.

O6-methylguanine DNA methyltransferase () promoter methylation is associated with the prognosis of patients with glioblastomas. With the aim of facilitating the discrimination of glioblastoma molecular phenotypes and improving the accuracy of molecular imaging diagnosis, the present retrospective study analyzed the association between promoter methylation and glioblastoma magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) texture features and prognosis. A total of 128 patients with pathologically diagnosed glioblastoma who had undergone preoperative MRI were enrolled.

Hemodynamic evaluation of endovascular techniques of stenting and coiling for the treatment of internal carotid artery aneurysm: a computational study.

The selection optimum endovascular method for the treatment of different cerebral aneurysms has been the main challenge for surgeons. In the present article, the computational technique is used for the hemodynamic evaluation of two main endovascular techniques of stent and coiling for the reduction of the hemorrhage risk of ICA aneurysms. Comprehensive analyses of the blood flow are performed to detect potential regions with high risk at critical stages of the cardiac cycle.
