Objective: To assess the dietary quality of patients with severe cerebrovascular disease using Diet Balance Index-16 (DBI-16) and to provide scientific evidence for the establishment of targeted dietary intervention and related dietary nutritional education for patients.

Methods: The general information of 214 hospitalized patients with severe cerebrovascular disease, including gender and age etc., were investigated by a self-made questionnaire on health risk factors, and the dietary quality conditions of patients was evaluated by DBI-16 scoring method.

Objective: To explore the guiding value of radiography after transnasal ileus intubation for the treatment of small bowel obstruction and the selection of surgical timing.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed the clinical data of 133 patients with small bowel obstruction who were admitted to Gongli Hospital from January 2013 to December 2020. The patients were included in a nasogastric intubation group (n=65) or a transnasal ileus intubation + radiography group (n=68), according to different treatment methods.

Objective: To explore the significance of liraglutide combined with dapagliflozin or empagliflozin in the prevention of early diabetic nephropathy (DN) and its effects on renal function indices.

Methods: Three hundred patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) treated in our hospital from April 2019 to April 2020 were retrospectively included and divided into two groups according to different treatment regimens. Among them, 150 patients who received liraglutide alone were included in the single-drug group, and 150 patients treated with liraglutide combined with dapagliflozin or empagliflozin were included in the combination group.

Objectives: We aimed to identify nutritional, inflammatory and clinical indicators associated with stage II/III gastric cancer in patients, and construct a nomogram model for accurate prediction of prognosis of patients.

Methods: We retrospectively recruited stage II/III gastric cancer (GC) patients who underwent radical gastrectomy at Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center, from 2012 to 2019. The patients were randomly divided into training and internal validation sets, and then the Maximum log-rank statistic method was used to determine the optimal cut-off value.

URI, a member of the prefoldin family of molecular chaperones, functions in the regulation of nutrient-sensitive, mTOR-dependent transcription signaling pathways. Previous studies of several tumor types demonstrated that URI exhibits characteristics similar to those of an oncoprotein. URI has been shown as a mitochondrial substrate of S6 kinase 1 (S6K1), which acts to integrate nutrient and growth factor signals to promote cell growth and survival.

CD39/ectonucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase-1 (ENTPD1) is a cell surface-located, rate-limiting enzyme in the generation of adenosine, and plays a crucial role in tumor development. We examined co-expression of CD39 and CD8in gastric cancer (GC) and showed that the expression of CD39 and CD8 increased significantly in tumor tissues compared to paired peritumor tissues. The expression of tumoral CD39 (tCD39), but not tumoral CD8 (tCD8), was related to overall survival.

Granulocytic sarcoma (GS) usually occurs concomitantly with or after the onset of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or other myeloproliferative disorders, however, GS of the ovary as the primary manifestation of AML is exceedingly rare. To the best of our knowledge, eight cases of ovarian GS as the first sign of AML have been reported in the literature. Here, we report the ninth case: a 27-year-old female who presented with an ovarian mass without any underlying hematologic disorder.

Vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) play pivotal roles in the development of vascular diseases. While microRNAs are important in vascular pathologies, a few is known about their functional roles in VSMC phenotypes. We profiled microRNA expression in PDGF-BB treated VSMCs and found microRNA-146b-5p (miR-146b-5p) was upregulated.

Although the stomach is the most common location for gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) with co-primary tumors, the synchronous appearance of a poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) and GIST in the stomach is extremely rare. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of gastric GIST coexisting with gastric NEC to be reported in the literature. The current study reports the case of a 71-year-old male with gastric poorly differentiated NEC and GIST discovered incidentally during surgical treatment of the NEC.

CXCR6 deficiency attenuates pressure overload-induced monocytes migration and cardiac fibrosis through downregulating TNF-α-dependent MMP9 pathway.

Department of Cardiology, Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Remodeling and Function Research, Chinese Ministry of Education and Chinese Ministry of Health, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University 250012, China.

An immerging role of TNF-α in collagen synthesis and cardiac fibrosis implies the significance of TNF-α production in the development of myocardial remodeling. Our previous study showed a reduction of TNF-α and attenuated cardiac remodeling in CXCR6 knockout (KO) mice after ischemia/reperfusion injury. However, the potential mechanism of TNF-α-mediated cardiac fibrosis with pressure overload has not been well elucidated.
