Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) reside in a milieu that supports their functions, differentiation, and survival. This niche consists of several types of cells, including mesenchymal stem/stromal cells, endothelial cells, osteoblasts, megakaryocytes, macrophages, adipocytes, lymphoid cells, and nerve fibers. The interactions between these cells and HSCs have a role in HSC fate.

Electrochemical biosensors have revolutionized the detection of biomarkers related to depression and the quantification of antidepressant drugs. These biosensors leverage nanomaterials and advanced assay designs to achieve high sensitivity and selectivity for clinically relevant analytes. Key neurotransmitters implicated in depression, such as serotonin, dopamine, and glutamate, can be accurately measured via biosensors, providing insights into the effects of antidepressant treatments on neurotransmission.

Background: Metabolic syndrome is a prevalent and common health problem and numerous studies have revealed the role of diet and lifestyle change in prevention of metabolic syndrome. However, the novel dietary index, cardioprotective index (CPI) and its association with metabolic syndrome is not investigated yet. In the current study, we evaluated the association between metabolic syndrome and its components, CPI, Nesfatin-1 and Omentin-1in a cross-sectional study.

One of the most famous and heterogeneous cancers worldwide is breast cancer (BC). Owing to differences in the gene expression profiles and clinical features of distinct BC subtypes, different treatments are prescribed for patients. However, even with more thorough pathological evaluations of tumors than in the past, available treatments do not perform equally well for all individuals.

Introduction: Hypertrophy of adenoids is a common condition in childhood, resulting in obstructive symptoms such as sleep apnea, snoring, and rhinosinusitis. Adenotonsillectomy is recommended to improve prognosis and quality of life. This case-control study compared facial angles and lip position related to dentofacial and mouth growth in symptomatic children with adenoid hypertrophy and asymptomatic control groups.

Despite recent medical progress, cervical cancer remains a major global health concern for women. Current standard treatments have limitations such as non-specific toxicity that necessitate development of safer and more effective therapeutic strategies. This research evaluated the combinatorial effects of olive leaf extract (OLE), rich in anti-cancer polyphenols, and the oncolytic Newcastle disease virus (NDV) against human cervical cancer cells.

Introduction: Successful endodontic treatment depends on completely clearing, shaping, and filling the prepared canals. Knowledge of the common and aberrant varying pulp anatomies is essential for suitable root canal treatment. Since, this anatomy is complex and varies morphologically in different populations.

Azoospermia, or the complete absence of sperm in the ejaculate, affects about 1% of men worldwide and is a significant fertility challenge. This study investigates Linc00513, a long non-coding RNA, and its potential role in regulating the TGF-β signaling pathway, a key player in spermatogenesis, in the context of azoospermia. We show that Linc00513 expression is significantly lower in testicular tissues from azoospermic patients than in HS1 controls.

Considering biosafety concerns and survivability limitations of probiotics (PRO) under different stresses, application of postbiotics and encapsulated PRO has received considerable attentions. Accordingly, the objective of the present study was to investigate the postbiotic capabilities of a potential PRO yeast isolate and the effect of encapsulation with alginate (Alg) and chitosan (Ch) on its survival under SGI conditions. Sequencing results of the PCR products led to the identification of as the selected potential PRO yeast isolated from wheat germ sourdough.

Adenosine receptors are important in the normal physiological function of cells and the pathogenesis of various cancer cells, including breast cancer cells. The activity of adenosine receptors in cancer cells is related to cell proliferation, angiogenesis, metastasis, immune system evasion, and interference with apoptosis. Considering the different roles of adenosine receptors in cancer cells, we intend to investigate the function of adenosine receptors and their biological pathways in breast cancer to improve understanding of therapeutically relevant signaling pathways.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play critical roles in cancer pathobiology, acting as regulators of gene expression and pivotal drivers of tumorigenesis. It is believed that miRNAs act through canonical mechanisms, involving the binding of mature miRNAs to target messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and subsequent repression of protein translation or degradation of target mRNAs. miR-142-3p/5p has been extensively studied and established as a key regulator in various malignancies.

Background: The chimeric antigen receptor-expressing T (CAR-T) cells for cancer immunotherapy have obtained considerable clinical importance. CAR T cells need an optimized intracellular signaling domain to get appropriately activated and also for the proper antigen recognition, the length and composition of the extracellular spacer are critical factors.
Results: We constructed two third-generation nanobody-based VEGFR2-CARs containing either IgG1 hinge-CH2-CH3 region or hinge-only as long or short extracellular spacers, respectively.

Although bread is the main consumed staple food worldwide containing essential micro- and macronutrients, incorporation of probiotics (PRO) into this nondairy product has been less documented. Due to the mechanical and thermal stresses during bread-making process, production of PRO bread (PRO-BR) is dependent on development of emerging strategies like edible coating, encapsulation, three-dimensional printing, and application of thermophilic PRO strains. In the present study, novel technological and formulation aspects of PRO-BR, as well as critical conditions for obtaining products with guaranteed PRO potential have been reviewed.

MicroRNA-3613 (hsa-miR-3613-5p), a biomarker with a dual role as an oncogenic or tumor suppressor, is associated with different types of cancer. This study aimed to determine the correlation between the hsa-miR-3613-5p gene expression and Kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC). Utilizing several bioinformatics tools, we examined the expression level and clinicopathological value of hsa-miR-3613-5p in patients with KIRC compared to normal tissues.

Globally, prostate cancer (PC) is leading cause of cancer-related mortality in men worldwide. Despite significant advances in the treatment and management of this disease, the cure rates for PC remains low, largely due to late detection. PC detection is mostly reliant on prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and digital rectal examination (DRE); however, due to the low positive predictive value of current diagnostics, there is an urgent need to identify new accurate biomarkers.

The CRISPR/Cas system, an innovative gene-editing tool, is emerging as a promising technique for genome modifications. This straightforward technique was created based on the prokaryotic adaptive immune defense mechanism and employed in the studies on human diseases that proved enormous therapeutic potential. A genetically unique patient mutation in the process of gene therapy can be corrected by the CRISPR method to treat diseases that traditional methods were unable to cure.
