This study aims to evaluate the quantitative changes in retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness and radial peripapillary capillary (RPC) vessel density in patients with chronic central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR), specifically excluding the peripapillary region. A prospective case-control study was conducted at the Antalya Training and Research Hospital, Health Sciences University, involving 65 patients with chronic CSCR. Participants were categorized into two groups based on the presence or regression of subretinal fluid (SRF).

: The aim of the present study was to calculate HALP and modified HALP scores for patients diagnosed with acute cholecystitis (AC) and to determine the predictive utility of these scores for surgical timing and morbidity in patients who underwent surgery for AC. : This study included data from 641 patients who underwent surgery for AC between January 2010 and May 2023. The HALP score was calculated using the formula hemoglobin (g/L) × albumin (g/L) × lymphocyte (10/L)/platelets (10/L).

The role of artificial intelligence (AI) in radiological image analysis is rapidly evolving. This study evaluates the diagnostic performance of Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer Omni (GPT-4 Omni) in detecting intracranial hemorrhages (ICHs) in non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) images, along with its ability to classify hemorrhage type, stage, anatomical location, and associated findings. A retrospective study was conducted using 240 cases, comprising 120 ICH cases and 120 controls with normal findings.

Background: Incentive spirometer is used in lung expansion therapy to maintain alveolar patency and improve pulmonary volumes in postoperative cardiac surgical patients. Deep breathing exercises with an incentive spirometer significantly reduce the development of postoperative pulmonary complications after open-heart cardiac surgery.
Aim: To determine the effect of deep breathing exercises with an incentive spirometer initiated in the preoperative period on respiratory parameters and complications in patients who underwent open-heart surgery.

Congestive symptoms are the primary cause of hospitalizations in heart failure (HF), and diuretics remain the cornerstone of their management. However, clinical practice varies widely due to a lack of a reliable measure of congestion guiding diuretic use. Consequently, many HF patients are discharged prematurely without adequate decongestion, leading to increased readmissions and mortality.

This study aimed to investigate prospective memory (PM) in patients with memory complaints but without dementia (PWD) and correlate findings with resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) alterations. We hypothesized that PM impairment would be evident at a certain relatively early point in the continuum and specific rsFC patterns would be the neuroimaging signature of this impairment. Sixty PWD participated in the study.

This prospective observational study aimed to compare abdominal hysterectomy (AH), vaginal hysterectomy (VH), and total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) in terms of oxidative stress (OS) by measuring serum levels of total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS), and oxidative stress index (OSI). Of the 3 groups, namely, AH, VH, and TLH, 22 patients were enrolled in each to investigate the aim of the study mentioned above. Patient demographics, clinical and surgical characteristics, and preoperative and postoperative (0th and 24th hours) serum TAS, TOS, and OSI levels were investigated.

Background: Inflammatory markers have been proposed as prognostic tools for predicting in-hospital mortality in infective endocarditis (IE). Nonetheless, it is unclear whether these markers provide additional prognostic value over established indicators. This study compared nine different inflammation scores to assess their effectiveness in enhancing the prediction of in-hospital mortality.

Currently, recommended pre-operative risk assessment models including the revised cardiac risk index (RCRI) are not very effective in predicting postoperative myocardial damage after non-elective surgery, especially for elderly patients. This study aimed to create a new risk prediction model to assess myocardial injury after non-cardiac surgery (MINS) in elderly patients and compare it with the RCRI, a well-known pre-operative risk prediction model. This retrospective study included 370 elderly patients who were over 65 years of age and had non-elective surgery in a tertiary hospital.

Objective: Heterozygous COL2A1 gene mutations are associated with type 2 collagenopathies, characterized by a wide, diverse, and overlapping clinical spectrum in related diseases. Our goal is to describe the clinical, radiological, and molecular findings of patients with COL2A1-related dysplasia and investigate the phenotype-genotype correlation. We also aim to emphasize the challenge of categorizing COL2A1-related diseases with similar clinical and radiological phenotypes.

Craniosynostosis causes functional and aesthetic problems that require fronto-orbital advancement in patients to correct the cranial deformity and to prevent functional problems due to increased intracranial pressure (ICP). In this study, demographic information, operative details, preoperative clinical findings, and postoperative outcomes were reviewed for 106 craniosynostosis patients with at least 1 year of follow-up. Many factors such as functional losses due to increased ICP before surgery, resynostosis, fronto-orbital relapse, surgical complications and aesthetic results were compared in syndromic and non-syndromic patients.
