The article highlights a new method for the fabrication of an ocular prosthesis by the incorporation of a ceramic scleral veneer. The steps of fabrication include impression making, wax try-in, performing a "cut-back" on a selected stock eye, insertion of the IPS e-max press scleral veneer, finishing and insertion. It also includes a detailed review on non-integrated ocular prostheses.

Endodontic Management of a Mandibular First Molar with Radix Entomolaris and Conservative Post-endodontic Restoration with CAD/CAM Onlay: A Novel Clinical Technique.

This case report describes a novel technique of restoring endodontically treated teeth. Hidden caries causing irreversible pulpitis in a mandibular molar with Radix Entomolaris (RE) was evident. The intact occlusal surface anatomy was duplicated before preparing an access cavity to replicate the original occlusal surface in the post endodontic restoration using (Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing) CAD/CAM technique.

Unusually Large Peripheral Osteoma of the Mandible - A Rare Case Report.

Osteoma is a benign tumor which is composed of mature compact or cancellous bone. Osteoma may be periosteal (arising from surface of the bone) or endosteal (develop in the medullary bone) or combination of both. Here, we present a case of unusually large osteoma present on the lingual surface of the mandible in a 40-year-old female patient.

Post-traumatic and postoperative neurosensory deficits of the inferior alveolar nerve in mandibular fracture: a prospective study.

Objectives: We evaluated and recorded post-traumatic and postoperative neurosensory deficits of the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) in mandibular fracture in order to identify associated risk factors.

Materials And Methods: This was a prospective cohort study composed of 60 patients treated for mandibular fracture. The primary study variable was the change between the post-traumatic IAN neurosensory examination score and the score after fracture reduction.

A Unique Flask Design for Processing Cranial Prosthesis Using Heat Cured Acrylic - A Case Report.

In a 30 year old male patient, the absence of a cranial bone fragment had left the brain covered only by dura mater, subcutaneous tissue and scalp, resulting in aesthetic and functional impairment. A prosthetic replica of the bone fragment made of PMMA (Polymethylmethacrylate) was fabricated using a unique flask design that consisted of a medium sized stainless steel instrument tray with lid, four large headed screws and a C clamp, since the prosthesis was too big to be invested in a conventional flask.

Objective: This survey was undertaken to assess dentist's opinion regarding the occurrence and pattern of food impaction in relation to fixed partial denture (FPD) prostheses, its commonly observed consequences, factors contributing to it, and its management.

Methods: A descriptive survey was conducted on a sample size of 150 dental practitioners. The pro forma consisted of informed consent, demographic information, and questionnaire.

Comparative evaluation of border molding using two different techniques in maxillary edentulous arches: A clinical study.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the single-step border molding technique using injectable heavy viscosity addition silicone with sectional border molding technique using low fusing impression compound by evaluating the retention of heat cure trial denture bases.

Materials And Methods: Ten completely edentulous patients in need of prostheses were included in this study. Two border molding techniques, single-step (Group 1) and sectional (Group 2), were compared for retention.

An Innovative and Simple Technique of Hollow Maxillary Complete Denture Fabrication.

Prosthetic rehabilitation of severely atrophic ridges has always been an ordeal for the clinician due to decreased support, stability and retention. Because of severe resorption the restorative space between maxillary and mandibular residual ridges is increased. Rehabilitation in such cases may result in increased height and weight of the prosthesis further compromising its retention and stability.

Primary tuberculous osteomyelitis of the mandible in a 3-year-old child.

A 3-year-old girl child presented with swelling in her right lower jaw that had started 5 days previously. History revealed the child being non-immunised. Initial-evaluation revealed proptosis and bony hard swelling over the right body of the mandible.

Fixed Appliance with Expansion Screw for the Treatment of Primary Anterior Crossbite.

Anterior crossbite occurring during the primary dentition stage needs immediate correction so that functional, aesthetic and skeletal complications may be avoided in the future. This article describes a fixed appliance with an expansion screw that was successfully used for the treatment of primary anterior crossbite. Crossbite correction was achieved in about six weeks.

Transbuccal versus transoral approach for management of mandibular angle fractures: a prospective, clinical and radiographic study.

Objectives: We compared the transbuccal and transoral approaches in the management of mandibular angle fractures.

Materials And Methods: Sixty patients with mandibular angle fractures were randomly divided into two equal groups (A, transoral approach; group B, transbuccal approach) who received fracture reduction using a single 2.5 mm 4 holed miniplate with a bar using either of the two approaches.

Management of large radicular cyst associated with amalgam particles in cystic lining.

The failure of amalgam retrofilling and presence of an associated cystic lesion makes surgical endodontic intervention inevitable. Amalgam retrofilling can also give rise to mucoperiosteal tattoo formation and allow incorporation of amalgam particles in the cystic lining. Such a finding has not yet been reported in the endodontic literature.

Unicystic Ameloblastoma Presenting as a Multilocular Radiolucency in the Anterior Mandible: A Case Report.

Ameloblastomas are tumors of odontogenic epithelial origin. The term unicystic ameloblastoma is used to describe cystic lesions with clinico-radiographic features resembling an odontogenic cyst, but histologically showing the presence of ameloblastomatous epithelium lining part of the cyst cavity. A large majority of lesions are found in the mandible, and usually cause a painless swelling of the jaws.
