Background: Pleural biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosis of pleural malignancy but a significant proportion will have an inconclusive biopsy despite ongoing clinical suspicion of malignancy. We investigated whether positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) targeted pleural biopsy is superior to standard CT-guided pleural biopsy following an initial non-diagnostic biopsy.

Methods: The TARGET trial was a multicentre, parallel group randomised trial.

Introduction: Renal stone treatment through flexible ureteroscopy is widely established and successful. Ureteroscopes can broadly be classified into reusable and single-use disposable devices, each with their own advantages. Disposable scopes are cheaper to buy, maintain, and dispose of but may have a greater environmental impact and long-term cost.

Acute Flaccid Myelitis is a paralytic illness with significant similarities to poliomyelitis, and which affects predominantly children. It was first fully delineated only in 2014 in the USA, occurring in epidemic clusters with a likely overall increasing incidence. It has subsequently rapidly been identified in Europe, the UK, and Australasia and the Far East, confirming it to be an emerging, global, infectious neurological disease.

Background: Gastro-oesophageal junctional (GOJ) cancers have been, more latterly, considered a distinct tumor entity with characteristic genetic profiles. The optimal multimodal therapy of advanced GOJ cancers remains debatable. In this comparative study, we analyzed the outcomes of peri-operative chemotherapy (CT) versus pre-operative chemoradiotherapy (CRT) in treatment of advanced GOJ adenocarcinomas.

The vascular supply of the human auditory ossicles has long been of anatomical and clinical interest. While the external blood supply has been well-described, there is only limited information available regarding the internal vascular architecture of the ossicles, and there has been little comparison of this between individuals. Based on high-resolution micro-CT scans, we made reconstructions of the internal vascular channels and cavities in 12 sets of ossicles from elderly donors.
