The aim of this review is to provide an update on the surgical options for treatment of stress incontinence in women. The efficiency of different procedures and the safety associated with each procedure are evaluated, mainly by reviewing the randomised controlled trials. The open retropubic colposuspension and the sling procedures are the most efficacious for treatment stress urinary incontinence especially in the long term.

Aim: The aim was to evaluate the voiding function over time after the TVT procedure for stress incontinence.
Materials And Methods: Thirty-eight women with urodynamic stress urinary incontinence were included in the study. For voiding function assessment the patients were asked if voiding had changed postoperatively, and objectively uroflowmetry, residual urine measurement and pressure-flow were performed preoperatively, 1 year and 3(1/2) years postoperatively.

Purpose: We applied the International Continence Society Guidelines and categorized men and women with nocturia 2 or more times a night in pathophysiological groups based on selected lower urinary tract symptoms, clinical examination, frequency volume charts and urodynamics, and categorized the most likely pathophysiological causes of nocturia.
Materials And Methods: Participants were randomly selected among respondents in a population study of 4,000 individuals 60 to 80 years old living in Copenhagen County. Nocturia was assessed using the new and validated Nocturia, Nocturnal Enuresis, and Sleep-interruption Questionnaire.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a transurethral injection with polyacrylamide hydrogel (PAHG) for treating stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women.
Patients And Methods: The study comprised 17 women with pure SUI and eight with mixed incontinence (age range 35-84 years). Between November 2001 and November 2003, the women were injected into the urethral wall with a PAHG (Aquamid, Contura International A/S, Denmark), a homogenous, highly biocompatible, atoxic, nonresorbable sterile watery gel consisting of approximately 2.

A chromosomal deletion syndrome associated with a 22q13 microdeletion has previously been reported in approximately 75 children. We report six cases from Denmark with a deletion of 22q13. One was cytogenetically visible by conventional karyotyping, one was diagnosed by high resolution karyotyping after the demonstration of low arylsulfatase A activity.

Aims: Proper function of the lower urinary tract depends on the integrity of the central and peripheral nervous pathways on multiple levels, and the complexity of this system leaves it susceptible to even minor lesions. While dysfunction of the lower urinary tract is prevalent amongst patients with nervous system disease, e.g.

Background: Maximum bladder capacity (MBC) is an important parameter in the evaluation of lower urinary tract function. Yet, there is no consensus on how to measure MBC. The aim of this study was to compare estimates of the maximum bladder capacity (MBC) using cystometry, uroflowmetry, and a 24-h voiding diary in women with urinary incontinence.

The aim of this study was to investigate whether a tympanic displacement analyser could detect decreases in cerebral blood flow and intracranial pressure after administration of indomethacin in healthy volunteers. In a double-blind crossover study involving 14 healthy volunteers all subjects first underwent a test-retest evaluation to investigate reproducibility followed by tests performed in sitting and supine positions to confirm intracranial-cochlear pressure transfer. In two further sessions tests were performed before and 90 min after subjects were blindly administered a suppository containing either 100 mg of indomethacin or placebo.

Frequent episodes of nocturnal voiding disturb the sleep and well-being of women. The prevalence of nocturia is more common in parous women and shows a linear increase with age, occurring in more than 50% of women > or =80 years old. Nocturia has a multifactorial origin that develops through a pathophysiologic mechanism of nocturnal polyuria or low functional bladder capacity or through a combination of both.
