Background: The EyeCee ONE intraocular lens (Nidek, Gamagori, Japan) has been withdrawn from the market due to a high number of reports of severe ocular hypertension (OHT) following phacoemulsification with implantation of this intraocular lens (IOL). In this case series, we report the results of a toxicological analysis and the surgical management of five patients with severe OHT following the implantation of defective EyeCee ONE IOLs during cataract surgery.
Cases Presentation: Five patients developed early, severe OHT refractory to maximal medical therapy following uneventful phacoemulsification (PCE) cataract surgery with implantation of an EyeCee ONE IOL from a defective lot.

Introduction: To present a novel surgical technique for the treatment of a steep-walled filtering bleb following an Ahmed glaucoma valve implant. The primary aim was to alleviate the patient's discomfort and address associated corneal thinning, complications that can arise from this condition.
Methods: Case report and surgical technique.

Aim And Background: The OMNI surgical system allows for 360° canaloplasty and trabeculotomy for patients with glaucoma, either as a standalone procedure or in combination with cataract surgery. There is currently limited evidence on its use in forms of angle-closure glaucoma, though other microinvasive glaucoma surgeries have been used. We present three patients with angle closure who underwent the procedure.

Purpose Of Review: This review evaluates the surgical management of glaucoma in patients undergoing cataract surgery. Combining both procedures present challenges in balancing intraocular pressure (IOP) control, minimizing postoperative complications, and achieving optimal refractive outcomes.
Recent Findings: Recent studies highlight the effectiveness of combined glaucoma and cataract surgeries, with traditional filtering surgeries and MIGS showing significant IOP reduction.

Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) offers options for glaucoma treatment that have generally improved safety profiles compared with filtering surgery. MIGS vary in design and procedure, but all angle-based MIGS function by bypassing or removing aqueous humor outflow resistance at the level of the trabecular meshwork. This can lower intraocular pressure but also remove the blood-aqueous barrier.

To compare the postoperative complications and clinical outcomes of Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) and Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) in eyes with previous glaucoma filtering surgery. In this retrospective comparative case series, we analysed postoperative visual acuity and intraocular pressure, graft survival, rate of graft detachment and/or dislocation, number of rebubbling and/or graft repositioning procedures, and graft rejection or failure (primary and secondary). Sixteen eyes with DMEK and 80 eyes with DSAEK with previous glaucoma surgery were studied.

Purpose: To discuss four cases of post-operative XEN gel stent luminal obstruction in patients with primary open angle glaucoma.
Case Report: Four eyes in three patients with primary open angle glaucoma who received XEN stent implantation were found to have luminal obstruction of their stents. Stent obstruction can mimic filtering bleb failures not responding to bleb needling and antimetabolite injections.

Introduction: Mutations in gene have been linked to the development of refractory angle closure glaucoma (ACG). This study aims to delineate the clinical characteristics, genetic mutations, and disease progression in patients with autosomal recessive bestrophinopathy (ARB) and autosomal dominant Best vitelliform macular dystrophy (BVMD) who are presented with treatment-resistant ACG.
Methods: This retrospective analysis encompasses a comprehensive ophthalmic assessment, retinal imaging, and mutational profiling of six patients diagnosed with bestrophinopathy and concurrent ACG, with a particular emphasis on the risk of post-glaucoma filtration surgery malignant glaucoma (MG).

Background: The present study elucidates a common significant postoperative complication of micropulse transscleral laser treatment (mTLT) and explores its potential management strategies for younger patients with good central vision.
Case Presentation: Three younger Chinese glaucoma patients with good central vision maintained high intraocular pressures (IOPs) (36, 25, and 30 mmHg) on maximally tolerated topical anti-glaucoma medications. All patients were treated with mTLT because of a higher risk of complications with filtering surgery.

Prcis: Preserflo surgery is a safe procedure, effective in reducing intraocular pressure into the "low teens," surgical survival is greatest in cases of high baseline intraocular pressure (above 21 mm Hg) and when performed as a standalone procedure.
Purpose: To evaluate midterm surgical survival and safety profile of Preserflo filtering surgery.
Methods: In this retrospective, cohort study, consecutive patients who underwent standardized Preserflo implantation with mitomycin C from December 2019 to April 2021 were included.

Background Trabeculectomy, with the application of mitomycin C (MMC), has been the gold standard glaucoma-filtering surgery. The conventional method of applying MMC using soaked sponges does not ensure a controlled amount of delivery of MMC, and incidences of blebitis are reported to be associated with leftover sponges. This study aims to assess the safety and efficacy of a low dose (0.

Nonetheless, bleb-related problems have been reported. We present a case series of ab externo Xen procedures augmented with a deep intra-scleral lake, aiming to improve both IOP-lowering and post-operative management.

To investigate the clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of glaucoma secondary to congenital ectropion uveae (CEU) using penetrating Schlemm's canaloplasty. This was a retrospective case series study. Medical records of patients diagnosed with glaucoma secondary to CEU and undergoing penetrating Schlemm's canaloplasty at the Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University between August 2020 and December 2021 were collected.

The PRESERFLO MicroShunt (MP; Santen Inc., Osaka, Japan) is a minimally invasive bleb surgery (MIBS) manufactured to treat primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), with lower postoperative adverse effects than with conventional filtering surgeries. We describe here the case study of a 58-year-old woman who presented with bilateral severe myopia with bilateral advanced POAG and unreached target pressure under quadritherapy, who was successfully managed by PM surgery.

Age is an important risk factor for both glaucoma and cataract. As global life expectancy continues to rise, the prevalence of concomitant open-angle glaucoma (OAG) and cataracts is increasing. Currently, there is a lack of definitive consensus on the optimal management approach for such individuals.

Multiocular defect has been described in different canine breeds, including the Old English Sheepdog. Affected dogs typically present with multiple and various ocular abnormalities. We carried out whole genome sequencing on an Old English Sheepdog that had been diagnosed with hereditary cataracts at the age of five and then referred to a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist due to owner-reported visual deterioration.

Background: Ocular surface (OS) disorders before glaucoma filtration surgery (GFS) have been considered to play a crucial role influencing the surgical outcome. Conversely, the impact of surgery itself on the OS is almost completely overlooked, though evidence suggest that ocular surface disease (OSD) may be induced in patients by GFS. This review analyzes the determinants involved in the OSD development after GFS, the clinical features and related consequences, the main diagnostic hallmarks, as well as the therapeutic strategies for its management.

Background: Choroidal effusion is a common complication of glaucoma surgery. Although most cases of choroidal effusions resolve spontaneously with observation or medical management alone as intraocular pressure normalizes, surgical drainage might be needed in severe or persistent cases. Herein, we report a case of spontaneous resolution of long-standing severe choroidal effusion after Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation.

The surgical management of glaucoma has been enriched in recent years by the arrival of new surgical techniques as a group known as MIGS (minimally invasive glaucoma surgery). The objective of these new techniques is to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) while limiting the risk of complications of conventional filtering surgery and allowing faster visual recovery. MIGS can be classified into three main categories depending on the route used to promote the outflow of aqueous humor: the trabecular route, the suprachoroidal route and the subconjunctival route.
