The present work systematically examines the effect of breaking the rotational symmetry of a surface on the spot positioning in reaction-diffusion (RD) systems. In particular, we study analytically and numerically the steady-state positioning of a single spot in RD systems on a prolate and an oblate ellipsoid. We adapt perturbative techniques to perform a linear stability analysis of the RD system on both ellipsoids.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

October 2023

Department of Civil Engineering, GITAM School of Technology, GITAM University, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

Karnataka state has the second highest rainfed agricultural land in India, where agricultural output relies heavily on rainfall. The Shimsha basin, a sub-basin of Cauvery in the state, comes under a semi-arid region and predominantly consists of rainfed agricultural land. Rainfall patterns have changed dramatically with time resulting in frequent floods and droughts.

A comparative new strategy to enhance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) of through-space charge transfer (CT) molecules in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) is investigated. Generally, TADF molecules adopt a twisted donor and acceptor structure to get a sufficiently small Δ and a higher value of the spin-orbit coupling matrix element (SOCME). However, molecules containing donor-phenyl bridge-acceptor (D-p-A) units and featuring π-stacked architectures have intramolecular CT contribution through space and exhibit high TADF efficiency.

Nutrient pollution has a diverse impact on the environment and human health. The presence of nutrients, such as ammonium and phosphate, is ubiquitous in the environment due to their extensive use in agricultural land and leaching through non-point sources. In this context, biochar-based composites could play an essential role in improving the soil's nutrient retention capacity.

Segmentation of Retinal Blood Vessel (RBV) extraction in the retina images and Registration of segmented RBV structure is implemented to identify changes in vessel structure by ophthalmologists in diagnosis of various illnesses like Glaucoma, Diabetes, and Hypertension's. The Retinal Blood Vessel provides blood to the inner retinal neurons, RBV are located mainly in internal retina but it may partly in the ganglion cell layer, following network failure haven't been identified with past methods. Classifications of accurate RBV and Registration of segmented blood vessels are challenging tasks in the low intensity background of Retinal Image.

Reusing treated wastewater is an emerging solution to address freshwater scarcity, and surface water contamination faced worldwide. A unique large-scale wastewater recycling project was implemented to replenish groundwater by filling secondary treated wastewater (STW) into existing irrigation tanks in severely drought-hit areas of the Kolar districts of Southern India. This study quantifies the socio-economic impacts of this large-scale indirect groundwater recharge scheme.

Systematic genome-wide analysis of revealed the identification of a total of 48 homologous genes comprising 21 proline-rich proteins () and 27 hybrid proline-rich proteins (). Comprehensive scrutiny of these gene homologs was conducted for gene structure, phylogenetic investigations, chromosome mapping, and subcellular localization of proteins. Promoter analysis uncovered the regions rich with phosphorous- (BIHD), ammonium-, sulfur-responsive (SURE), and iron starvation-responsive (IRO2) along with biotic, abiotic, and development-specific -elements.

Agriculture is the mainstay of India's economy and chemical fertilizers have been extensively used to meet increasing demands. Anthropogenic interventions at the soil surface, especially the application of nitrogenous fertilizers in agricultural fields, provide essential nutrients but become major pollutant sources in terrestrial ecosystems and aquatic environments. Groundwater samples from phreatic aquifers of the Mahanadi River Basin, Chhattisgarh, India, showed that the Ca-Mg-HCO freshwater type dominates, followed by the Ca-Mg-Cl- and Na-HCO types.

Synthesis of Hollow Gold Nanoparticles - Impact of Variables on Process Optimization.

J Pharm Sci

October 2022

Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, SVKM's Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Pharmacy, University of Mumbai, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Electronic address:

Hollow gold nanoparticles (HAuNPs) are gold nanostructures with hollow interior. These particles have attracted a lot of interest due their excellent physicochemical and optical properties and their potential applications in diagnostics, sensing, imaging and assisting in tumor tracing and evaluating the effect of chemotherapy on tumor size, drug delivery and photothermal therapy. Sacrificial galvanic replacement using cobalt core is the most commonly used method for synthesis of HAuNPs.

The current study deals with a reactivity-controlled compression ignition (RCCI) engine working with 1-pentanol as the LRF and JOBD as the HRF. The composition of the pilot fuel includes 20% Jatropha oil and 80% diesel, which nearly matches the heating value and cetane index of petroleum diesel. The research focuses on studying the impact of the pilot fuel injection angle on the engine characteristics at full load conditions, and the pilot fuel injection angle varies from 19, 21, 23, 25, to 27° bTDC at a constant injection pressure of 600 bar.

Electric Monopole Transition from the Superdeformed Band in ^{40}Ca.

Phys Rev Lett

June 2022

Department of Nuclear Physics and Accelerator Applications, Research School of Physics, The Australian National University, Canberra ACT 2601, Australia.

The electric monopole (E0) transition strength ρ^{2} for the transition connecting the third 0^{+} level, a "superdeformed" band head, to the "spherical" 0^{+} ground state in doubly magic ^{40}Ca is determined via e^{+}e^{-} pair-conversion spectroscopy. The measured value ρ^{2}(E0;0_{3}^{+}→0_{1}^{+})=2.3(5)×10^{-3} is the smallest ρ^{2}(E0;0^{+}→0^{+}) found in A<50 nuclei.

A novel CO tolerant microalga Tetradesmus obliquus CT02, was previously evaluated to be a suitable bio refinery platform for synthesis of bioactive molecules, biodiesel, and biofertilizer. In the present study, a process engineering strategy was developed targeting improved growth performance of the strain at large scale under fluctuating outdoor environmental conditions. The strategy relies on maintaining pH of the culture at its optimal value via cascade control with CO feeding.

We report a facile synthesis of MXene/bismuth ferrite (TiCT @ BiFeO) nanocomposites using hydrazine hydrate induced with the hydrothermal method. Preparation of the composite with hydrazine hydrate prevents the formation of BiFeO inside the matrix. The 25 wt % loading of BiFeO acts as spacers for the multilayer restacking of MXene flakes by retaining the (002) plane.
