Several antitumour drugs have been isolated from natural products and many clinical trials are underway to evaluate their potential. There have been numerous reports about the antitumour effects of astaxanthin against several tumours but no studies into its effects against glioblastoma. Astaxanthin is a red pigment found in crustaceans and fish and is also synthesized in ; adonixanthin is an intermediate product of astaxanthin.

Galectin-3 is expressed by various immune cells, including mast cells, histiocytes and macrophages, and plays an important role in diverse physiological functions.

[Metachronous Pubic Bone Metastases from Synchronous Double Cancer with Prostate and Ascending Colon Cancers : A Case Report].

A 70-year-old man visited a private hospital with the chief complaint of right lower limb pain. Fluorodeoxyglucose-emission tomography (FDG-PET) showed abnormal uptake in the pubic bone, right femur, and ascending colon. The patient was referred to our hospital for further evaluation.

Improving the Degree of Pubic Arch Post-Yoga Exercise During Pregnancy.

Yoga exercises undertaken during the maternity period may reduce unpleasant symptoms during pregnancy and reduce delivery pain. Flexibility of the hip joint improves the degree of pubic arch created in an open-leg posture and widens the pelvic outlet region, shortening the time required for delivery and facilitating easy delivery. The degree of pubic arch is related to the flexibility of the hip joint.

Tenascin-C expression in renal biopsies from patients with tubulointerstitial nephritis and its relation to disease activity and prognosis.

Tenascin-C (TNC) is an extracellular matrix protein that is transiently expressed in close association with tissue remodeling in various organs. Expression of TNC in patients with tubulointerstitial nephritis (TIN) is not well-characterized. Using renal biopsy specimens from 25 patients with TIN and 8 patients with thin basement membrane disease (controls), we assessed immunohistochemical staining for TNC and investigated its relation with clinicopathologic data.

Feasibility of the Reconstruction with Fascia Lata Patch on the Abdominal Wall Defect After Resection of the Abdominal Desmoid Tumor.

Introduction: The abdominal desmoid tumor shows invasive development and high local recurrence rate. The primary treatment method is complete removal of the tumor because of the high recurrence rate; however, the problem for the surgeon is the reconstruction of the abdominal wall after resection of the abdominal desmoid tumor.

Management of adenoid cystic carcinoma of the head and neck: a single-institute study with over 25-year follow-up.

Background: Adenoid cystic carcinoma is a rare malignant tumor arising from exocrine glands such as the major and minor salivary glands of the paranasal sinuses or the external auditory canal. Although multiple retrospective clinical studies of ACC have been reported to date, clinical questions, such as 1) long-term prognosis beyond 20 years, 2) usefulness and suitability for treatment of therapeutic interventions, 3) therapeutic goal to aim for, and 4) prognosis by recurrence sites, are still unclear.

Methods: To improve understanding and management of adenoid cystic carcinoma of the head and neck (ACC), a retrospective study with 58 new ACC cases between 1991 and 2016 was performed.

Do postpartum anxiety and breastfeeding self-efficacy and bonding at early postpartum predict postpartum depression and the breastfeeding method?

We investigated whether postpartum anxiety (PPA) and breastfeeding self-efficacy and bonding at the early postpartum period can be used to predict postpartum depression and the breastfeeding method, and we sought to identify factors related to postpartum depression. Of the 510 eligible women, 185 (36%) returned the questionnaire on all three occasions (1 day, 3 days, and 1 month after childbirth). The mothers' progress on the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale Short Form (BFSES-SF), and Postnatal Bonding Questionnaire (PBQ) was observed over three periods.

Sunitinib Versus Sorafenib as Initial Targeted Therapy for mCC-RCC With Favorable/Intermediate Risk: Multicenter Randomized Trial CROSS-J-RCC.

Purpose: The present study compared the efficacy of sunitinib and sorafenib as first-line treatment of metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma (mCC-RCC) with favorable or intermediate Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) risk.

Patients And Methods: Treatment-naive patients with mCC-RCC were randomized to receive open-label sunitinib followed by sorafenib (SU/SO) or sorafenib followed by sunitinib (SO/SU). The primary endpoint was first-line progression-free survival (PFS).

Protein-Folding Analysis Using Features Obtained by Persistent Homology.

Understanding the protein-folding process is an outstanding issue in biophysics; recent developments in molecular dynamics simulation have provided insights into this phenomenon. However, the large freedom of atomic motion hinders the understanding of this process. In this study, we applied persistent homology, an emerging method to analyze topological features in a data set, to reveal protein-folding dynamics.

Methylprednisolone pulse therapy in 31 patients with refractory epilepsy: A single-center retrospective analysis.

Purpose: We investigated the efficacy of methylprednisolone pulse therapy (MP) and responder characteristics in patients with refractory epilepsy.

Methods: We reviewed medical records of our center to identify patients with refractory epilepsy treated with MP other than continuous spikes and waves during slow sleep (CSWS), Landau-Kleffner syndrome (LKS), or Rasmussen's syndrome (RS) between 2004 and 2015. A course of MP consisted of intravenous methylprednisolone (30 mg/kg/day) on three consecutive days.

Rectal neuroendocrine tumor developing lateral lymph node metastasis after curative resection: a case report.

Background: Among gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), rectal NETs account for about one-third of all tumors. Despite the occasional observation of lateral lymph node metastasis in patients with rectal NETs, lateral lymph node recurrence is rare. We present a rare case of lateral lymph node recurrence after curative resection of a rectal NET.

Purpose: Oncofertility focuses on providing fertility and endocrine-sparing options to patients who undergo life-preserving but gonadotoxic cancer treatment. The resources needed to meet patient demand often are fragmented along disciplinary lines. We quantify assets and gaps in oncofertility care on a global scale.

Purpose: In the accompanying article, "Survey of Fertility Preservation Options Available to Patients With Cancer Around the Globe," we showed that specific fertility preservation services may not be offered at various sites around the world because of cultural and legal barriers. We assessed global and regional experiences as well as the legal status of third-party reproduction and adoption to serve as a comprehensive international data set and resource for groups that wish to begin oncofertility interventions.

Methods: We provide data on the legalities of third-party assisted reproductive technologies and other family-building options in the 28 oncofertility-practicing countries surveyed.

Thrombolysis With Alteplase at 0.6 mg/kg for Stroke With Unknown Time of Onset: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background and Purpose- We assessed whether lower-dose alteplase at 0.6 mg/kg is efficacious and safe for acute fluid-attenuated inversion recovery-negative stroke with unknown time of onset. Methods- This was an investigator-initiated, multicenter, randomized, open-label, blinded-end point trial.

MR imaging findings of low-grade serous carcinoma of the ovary: comparison with serous borderline tumor.

Purpose: To assess MR imaging findings of low-grade serous carcinoma (LGSC) of the ovary compared with those of serous borderline tumor (SBT).

Methods: Twenty-four patients with histopathologically proven 7 LGSCs and 25 SBTs who underwent preoperative MR imaging were included. We retrospectively reviewed MR images and compared MR findings between the two pathologies.

Intranodal lymphangiography for chyle leakage after esophagectomy: A case report.

Postoperative chylothorax after esophagectomy is a relatively rare complication, but treatment can sometimes be complicated. We report 3 cases of Lipiodol lymphangiography via inguinal lymph node puncture that was effective for chyle leakage occurring after esophagectomy. Case 1: A 67-year-old man with stage IIIA esophageal squamous cell carcinoma underwent radical esophagectomy by video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) following neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC).

[Retroperitoneal Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma which Could Be Diagnosed Using Dual Color in Situ Hybridization : A Case Report].

Ten years ago, a seventy-year-old female underwent extirpation of a left retroperitoneal tumor that was 58×36 mm in size. The pathological diagnosis was malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) at that time. The patients visited our hospital with the chief complaint of back pain at ten years after surgery.

Multiple trauma including pelvic fracture with multiple arterial embolization: an autopsy case report.

Background: Pelvic fracture with high energy trauma has a high mortality rate, especially in men. In addition, severe multiple trauma, major hemorrhage, and administration of red blood cells predict mortality in elderly patients with pelvic fracture. We herein report a rare case in which multiple arterial embolization occurred after pelvic fracture.
