This study aimed to address the limitations of conventional methods for measuring skeletal muscle mass for sarcopenia diagnosis by introducing an artificial intelligence (AI) system for direct computed tomography (CT) analysis. The primary focus was on enhancing simplicity, reproducibility, and convenience, and assessing the accuracy and speed of AI compared with conventional methods. A cohort of 3096 cases undergoing CT imaging up to the third lumbar (L3) level between 2011 and 2021 were included.

SOX17 expression in ovarian clear cell carcinoma.

Recent studies have revealed that the Sry-related HMG box gene 17 (SOX17) plays an important role in ovarian carcinogenesis. Unlike other types of ovarian cancer, ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) has a distinct pathobiological phenotype, often harboring an AT-rich interaction domain 1 A (ARID1A) mutation. In the present study, to determine the SOX17 in OCCC cells, we immunohistochemically examined SOX17 expression in 47 whole-tissue specimens of OCCC.

Evaluating glycocalyx morphology and composition in frozen and formalin-fixed liver tumor sections.

Background: The glycocalyx (GCX) is a glycan structure on the vascular endothelium and cancer cells. It is crucial for blood flow regulation, tumor invasion, and cancer drug resistance. Understanding the role of GCX in human tumors could help develop new cancer biomarkers and therapies.

Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Arising From a Mucinous Ovarian Borderline Tumor Treated With Paclitaxel, Cisplatin, and Bevacizumab: A Case Report.

Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) is a rare disease caused by primary mucinous neoplasms. Here, we describe a case where a large ovarian tumor was initially removed laparoscopically, followed by an appendectomy. The patient was diagnosed with PMP arising from an ovarian mucinous borderline tumor with a mutation.

Hemodynamic differences determining rupture and non-rupture in middle cerebral aneurysms after growth.

Background And Purpose: Intracranial aneurysm growth is a significant risk factor for rupture; however, a few aneurysms remain unruptured for long periods, even after growth. Here, we identified hemodynamic features associated with aneurysmal rupture after growth.

Materials And Methods: We analyzed nine middle cerebral artery aneurysms that grew during the follow-up period using computational fluid dynamics analysis.

Diffusion-weighted Echo Planar Imaging with Compressed SENSE (EPICS-DWI) for Pancreas Assessment: A Multicenter Study.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of single-shot echo planar diffusion-weighted imaging with compressed SENSE (EPICS-DWI) for pancreas assessment by comparing with single-shot echo planar DWI with parallel imaging (PI-DWI).

Methods: This multicenter prospective study included 27 consecutive participants with untreated pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) (15 men; mean age, 67 ± 10 years) who underwent pancreatic protocol MRI including both PI-DWI and EPICS-DWI. Two radiologists independently and randomly reviewed the high b-value DWI images and qualitatively assigned confidence scores for overall image quality, image noise, pancreas conspicuity, and PDAC conspicuity using a 5-point scale.

Trial Protocol of a Phase II Study of mFOLFOXIRI after Metastasectomy in Patients with Oligometastatic Colorectal Cancer (FANTASTIC Study).

Background: The survival benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy after surgical resection of oligometastases from colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. A rare case of schwannoma of the small intestine discovered during intussusception.

A woman in her 60s with anemia was diagnosed with a small intestinal intussusception on computed tomography. She underwent a double-balloon endoscopy, which revealed submucosal tumor in the ileum. Suspected to be the cause of anemia and intussusception, surgical intervention was carried out, revealing it to be a schwannoma.

Purpose: Complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS) and Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome (MRKHS) share common clinical features such as female phenotype, vaginal hypoplasia, and primary amenorrhea. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is performed to investigate the cause of primary amenorrhea. However, the MRI features are also similar in both disorders.

Neuropsychological outcome after frontal surgery for pediatric-onset epilepsy with focal cortical dysplasia in adolescent and young adult.

Objective: We investigated neuropsychological outcome in patients with pharmacoresistant pediatric-onset epilepsy caused by focal cortical dysplasia (FCD), who underwent frontal lobe resection during adolescence and young adulthood.

Methods: Twenty-seven patients were studied, comprising 15 patients who underwent language-dominant side resection (LDR) and 12 patients who had languagenondominant side resection (n-LDR). We evaluated intelligence (language function, arithmetic ability, working memory, processing speed, visuo-spatial reasoning), executive function, and memory in these patients before and two years after resection surgery.

A Case of Closure of Recurrent Full-Thickness Macular Hole by Spontaneous Retinal Detachment around the Macular Hole and Gas Tamponade.

Introduction: Here, we present a case of full-thickness macular hole (FTMH) recurrence following two vitrectomies, accompanied by additional internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling and gas tamponade. Ultimately, FTMH closure was accomplished by spontaneous retinal detachment around the macular hole and gas tamponade alone.

Case Presentation: The patient, a 54-year-old woman with a lamellar macular hole, had a visual acuity of 20/100 in her left eye.

Effect of a restrictive orthosis on the paralyzed hand in combination with constraint-induced movement therapy in a patient with chronic stroke: a case report.

Purpose: Many studies have reported the effects of constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) with an orthosis on the residual function of the impaired side of post-stroke patients. We encountered a case with left hemiparesis whose functioning of the impaired hand improved by CIMT with an orthosis not to assist as in the past but to restrict the residual function of the paralyzed fingers.

Methods: The patient was a 46-year-old woman with left hemiparesis due to cerebral infarction 18 months ago.
