Objectives: To analyze the association between bone metastatic sites and the clinical efficacy of the first-, second-, and third-generation EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI), in these patients.

Purpose: We conducted a questionnaire survey on the measures to be taken after the reduction of the equivalent dose limit for lenses to clarify the current situation at each institution and to discuss future dose control and exposure protection for lenses.

Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted among medical institutions in the Tokai area. A total of 65 items, including personal dosimeters, protective eyewear, imaging conditions, and protective equipment, were included in the survey.

Introduction: We investigated the effectiveness of lenvatinib (LEN) after disease progression following first-line treatment with atezolizumab plus bevacizumab (Atez/Bev) in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: One hundred and ten HCC patients treated with Atez/Bev as first-line systemic chemotherapy were enrolled and underwent dynamic computerized tomography/magnetic resonance imaging to determine the treatment response. We evaluated the treatment efficacy and prognosis after second-line LEN treatment, especially in elderly patients.

Background: The distribution of anti-factor Xa activity (AXA) in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) taking edoxaban 15 mg has not been fully elucidated.

Methods And Results: The trough and peak AXA were measured in 19 NVAF patients taking edoxaban 15 mg. We compared these results with those in patients taking edoxaban 30 mg.

Iatrogenic acute type A aortic dissection during catheter ablation for idiopathic ventricular premature contraction.

Acute aortic dissection type A during cardiac catheterization has been reported as a rare but fatal complication. We present a case of acute aortic dissection type A occurring during catheter manipulation in the ascending aorta during mapping of ventricular premature contraction via the retrograde approach. In the present case, transthoracic echocardiography showed no pericardial effusion and no flap of the aorta, but intracardiac echo clearly showed the flap.

Managing tuberculous meningitis (TBM) is challenging because of its poor prognosis and the difficulty in making an early diagnosis due to the low sensitivity of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) evaluations. A 75-year-old woman presented with fatigue and multiple enlarged lymph nodes and was initially suspected of having metastatic cancer of unknown primary origin. Differential diagnoses included carcinomatous meningitis, neurosarcoidosis, and TBM, as suggested by the presence of multiple enhancing cerebral nodules.

Serum interleukin-6 levels at the start of the second course of atezolizumab plus bevacizumab therapy predict therapeutic efficacy in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma: a multicenter analysis.

Background And Aim: Serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) before the administration of atezolizumab plus bevacizumab (Atez + Bev) is a prognostic biomarker in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with Atez + Bev. We previously revealed that the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and serum chemokine levels during treatment with Atez + Bev were more useful as prognostic biomarkers. Therefore, we examined the predictive ability of serum IL-6 for the efficacy of Atez + Bev in patients with HCC.

Purpose: This multicenter retrospective study focuses on understanding the incidence, causative bacteria, and risk factors for Periprosthetic Joint Infection (PJI) following hemiarthroplasty in elderly patients with displaced femoral neck fractures (FNF).

Methods: From 2016 to 2020, 1,619 patients were diagnosed with displaced FNFs and treated surgically across 11 centers. After exclusions, 1,438 patients (399 men and 1,039 women) were included in the study, averaging 82.

Does Early and Late Weight Bearing Have an Effect on the Results of Elderly Tibial Plateau Fractures with Internal Fixation?: A Multicenter (TRON Group) Study.

Introduction: There is still no consensus on the length of the non-bearing period required for tibial plateau fractures (TPFs) treated surgically. Several studies showed that full weight bearing immediately postoperatively does not affect fixation or cause joint collapse in patients with TPF. While there are concerns about weight bearing in the elderly due to fragile bone quality, their physical disability often makes it difficult to carry out activities of daily life when weight bearing is not allowed.
