Background: Single donor platelet products are preferred over random donor platelet products due to several advantages. However, safety issues with regard to post procedure hematological decrements and serum calcium and magnesium levels in donors undergoing plateletpheresis have been explored minimally.

Aims: This prospective study was done to analyze the effects of plateletpheresis on donor's hematological parameters and serum calcium and magnesium levels.

Unusual clinical presentations of choriocarcinoma: A systematic review of case reports.

Choriocarcinoma (CC) is a highly malignant tumor originating in the trophoblastic tissue. The clinical presentation of CC is so much varied that every case may be one of its kinds and thus can be a diagnostic challenge. Numerous case reports have been published in various journals regarding the unusual clinical presentations of this cancer.

Multiple myeloma: a clinical and pathological profile.

Unlabelled: Multiple myeloma is a plasma cell neoplasm with a spectrum spanning from localized to disseminated forms, plasma cell infiltration of various organs, plasma cell leukemia and abnormal immunoglobulin chain deposition in the tissues. In the bone marrow, myeloma cells are seen, and vary from mature forms to immature pleomorphic, anaplastic cells. M component is found in the serum or urine in 99% of the patients.

Management of third stage of labor with misoprostol: A comparison of three routes of administration.

Background And Context: Misoprostol is a versatile drug with an effective uterotonic effect on the postpartum uterine tissue and is used through various routes during the third stage of labor.

Aims And Objectives: A randomized prospective study was carried out to analyze the most effective route for misoprostol administration, with an emphasis on parturients' acceptability and compliance, a possible shortening of the duration of the third stage of labor, minimization of blood loss and possibly reducing the incidence of potential side effects.

Materials And Methods: The study groups comprised of 300 healthy parturients, divided randomly into three groups of 100 parturients each, who were administered misoprostol 400 μg through the oral (O), rectal (R), and sublingual (S) routes, respectively, during the third stage of labor.

Implications and considerations during pheochromocytoma resection: A challenge to the anesthesiologist.

Pheochromocytoma is a rare catecholamine secreting tumor arising commonly from adrenal medulla. It has got multidimensional challenging aspects in spite of our improved understanding of its physiological and clinical behavior during surgical resection. This neuroendocrine tumor is associated with a most unpredictable and fluctuating clinical course during anesthesia and surgical intervention.

Hashimoto's disease in a bilateral benign cystic ovarian teratoma: a case report.

A wide array of tissues derived from all the three germinal layers is seen in ovarian teratomas. Among these, thyroid tissue is present in 10% cases of all mature cystic teratomas. We report this case of Hashimoto's thyroiditis in a clinically euthyroid patient who tested positive for antithyroid peroxidase antibodies in spite of normal thyroid hormone profile.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy, an X-linked disorder characterized by progressive muscle weakness, is the most common muscular dystrophy among children leading to death before the end of third decade. Anesthesia in such patients pose a great challenge due to various complications associated with it. The dreaded metabolic and clinical complications occur due to various inhalational anesthetics and succinylcholine in this subset of patients.

Ameloblastic carcinoma: A case report and literature review.

Ameloblastic carcinoma (AC) is a rare epithelial odontogenic tumor of the jaws, which exhibits cytological features of ameloblastoma and carcinoma. It has a distinct predilection for mandible. These lesions may initially show histologic features of ameloblastoma that dedifferentiate over time.

Trichoadenoma in a mature cystic teratoma: a rare finding.

Skin adnexal tumors arising in dermoid cysts of the ovary are exceedingly rare. We report a trichoadenoma arising in a dermoid cyst in a 42-year-old female. The histopathology of trichoadenoma has also been described briefly.

Solitary skeletal lesion as the primary manifestation of Hodgkin's lymphoma: a case report.

Background: Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) is a malignant neoplasm of lymphoid tissues. Cervical lymphadenopathy is the most common head and neck presentation for HL. Although uncommon, extranodal HL observed at the time of diagnosis is well documented and is typically associated with generalized disease or local spread from adjacent lymph nodes.
