Framework for assessing the performance of the Ghanaian health system: study protocol.

Background: Assessing the performance of health systems through quantitative and qualitative methods is recognized as an effective approach to strengthening national health systems. However, while many high-income countries have institutionalized health system performance assessment (HSPA) as an integral component of their respective health systems, few studies on HSPA have been documented in low- and middle-income countries, including Ghana. This study aims at providing a comprehensive framework for periodic assessment of the performance of the entire health system in Ghana.

Effect of COVID-19 on Household Food Insecurity and Poverty: Evidence from Ghana.

Unlabelled: Following the outbreak of COVID-19 and its heavy toll on the global community and humanity, a fierce debate on the pandemic and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) performance nexus has emerged. While the literature on this subject remains highly contested, evidence within the Ghanaian contest is sparse. Thus, we present micro-level evidence on how COVID-19 poses a threat to hunger and poverty as SDGs in Ghana.

Premarital Counseling Practices among Christian and Muslim Lay Counselors in Ghana.

We examined premarital counseling services offered by Christian and Muslim lay counselors in Ghana. Participants including clergy, Islamic clerics, and laity practicing in four urban centers were interviewed. Thematic analysis showed that common issues covered include medical screening, beliefs and values, expectations, partner knowledge, roles and duties, sex, parenthood, financial management, communication, and conflicts.

A Consortium Blockchain-Based Agricultural Machinery Scheduling System.

The introduction of a consortium blockchain-based agricultural machinery scheduling system will help improve the transparency and efficiency of the data flow within the sector. Currently, the traditional agricultural machinery centralized scheduling systems suffer when there is a failure of the single point control system, and it also comes with high cost managing with little transparency, not leaving out the wastage of resources. This paper proposes a consortium blockchain-based agricultural machinery scheduling system for solving the problems of single point of failure, high-cost, low transparency, and waste of resources.

Analysis of Haematological Parameters as Predictors of Malaria Infection Using a Logistic Regression Model: A Case Study of a Hospital in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

Microscopic examination of peripheral blood film remains the most preferred and reliable method for malaria diagnosis worldwide. But the level of skills required for microscopic examination of peripheral blood film is often lacking in Ghana.

The relationship between psychological distress and bullying victimisation among school-going adolescents in Ghana: a cross-sectional study.

Objective: One of the pervasive problems in schools that has adverse implication on the wellbeing of students, is bullying victimisation. However, within sub-Saharan Africa, only few studies have examined how psychological distress influences bullying victimisation. The purpose of this study was to explore the association between bullying victimization and psychological distress among school going adolescents in Ghana.

This has enhanced the ability of people to share more about themselves, their families, and their friends through a variety of media including text, photo, and video, thus developing and sustaining social and business relationships.

Psychological health and religious coping of Ghanaian women with infertility.

Background: Infertility has been shown to have considerable psychological effects on the well-being of couples, especially women. Religion has been found as a resource used by infertile women to cope with their distress. Little research has examined the influence of religious coping on psychological distress among infertile women in Ghana.

Complementarity of Clinician Judgment and Evidence Based Models in Medical Decision Making: Antecedents, Prospects, and Challenges.

Early accounts of the development of modern medicine suggest that the clinical skills, scientific competence, and doctors' judgment were the main impetus for treatment decision, diagnosis, prognosis, therapy assessment, and medical progress. Yet, clinician judgment has its own critics and is sometimes harshly described as notoriously fallacious and an irrational and unfathomable black box with little transparency. With the rise of contemporary medical research, the reputation of clinician judgment has undergone significant reformation in the last century as its fallacious aspects are increasingly emphasized relative to the evidence based options.
