Propolis has an anti-inflammatory effect induced by inhibiting cyclooxygenase, subsequent inhibition of prostaglandin and nitric oxide synthesis, reduction of inflammatory cytokines, and eventually immunosuppressive activity [1-3]. This study aims to evaluate the impact of propolis on clinical features and specific IgE levels against salsola in perennial allergic rhinitis patients. Thirty patients diagnosed with perennial allergic rhinitis with salsola-positive skin prick test were enrolled in this randomized controlled clinical trial and divided into two groups.

People with multiple sclerosis (MS) and their physicians recognize cognitive retention as an important desired outcome of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs). In this study, we attempted to gather the opinions of Iranian MS experts regarding the treatment approach toward clinical cases with different physical and cognitive conditions. Opinions of 20 MS specialists regarding the best approach to 6 case scenarios (with different clinical, cognitive, and imaging characteristics) were gathered via a form.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) comprises a range of chronic liver diseases that result from the accumulation of excess triglycerides in the liver, and which, in its early phases, is categorized NAFLD, or hepato-steatosis with pure fatty liver. The mortality rate of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is more than NAFLD; therefore, diagnosing the disease in its early stages may decrease liver damage and increase the survival rate. In the current study, we screened the gene expression data of NAFLD patients and control samples from the public dataset GEO to detect DEGs.

Background: Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is an autoimmune diseases of the inner ear which is usually defined by acute onset of hearing loss in one or both ears, of 30 dB or more on at least three contiguous audiometric frequencies within 3 days or less. This study aimed to compare the serum levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (VitD) between patients with SSNHL and healthy controls.
Methods: A total of 50 patients with SSNHL and 50 healthy individuals without hearing loss as control group were enrolled in this study.

Objectives: Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is one of the most important diagnostic tools for investigation of suspected pancreatic masses, although the interpretation of the results is controversial. In recent decades, digital image analysis (DIA) has been considered in pathology. The aim of this study was to assess the DIA in the evaluation of EUS-FNA based cytopathological specimens of pancreatic masses and comparing it with conventional cytology analysis by pathologist.

In 2018, during our first clinical study on the kineticomyographic (KMG)-controlled bionic hand, we implanted three magnetic tags inside the musculotendinous junction of three paired extensor-flexor transferred tendons. However, the post-operative tissue adhesions affected the independent movements of the implanted tags and consequently the distinct patterns of the obtained signals. To overcome this issue, we modified our surgical procedure from a one-stage tendon transfer to a two-stage.

As glutamatergic system dysfunction is involved in bipolar depression pathophysiology, the glutamate receptor modulators such as Ketamine have been applied as complementary medication for mood stabilizers. While the treatment is currently just the intravenous injection of a single dose, and there is no robust conclusion on Ketamine effectiveness or its side effects in bipolar patients, this study aimed to consider single- and double-dose intravenous injections of Ketamine in bipolar patients compared to the placebo. In a randomized, double-blind controlled clinical trial, 30 patients diagnosed with bipolar I and II disorders according to DSM-IV-TR (SCID-I) were randomly divided into three groups: the first group received an intravenous injection of Ketamine (0.

Background: Transforaminal endoscopic lumbar diskectomy (TELD) is considered an effective treatment for lumbar disk herniation (LDH). There is a paucity of studies comparing in detail the costs and long-term clinical outcomes of TELD and open microdiskectomy (MD), especially in developing countries. Thus, we sought to provide a multidimensional insight into this matter by comparing the direct costs and long-term outcomes of TELD with those of MD.

Purpose: We investigate and compare responsiveness of the physical function subscales of patient-reported measures of the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) and Oxford Knee Score (OKS), and performance-based measures of the timed up-and-go test and 6-min walk test and determine the minimal clinically important change (MCIC) values in knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients following physiotherapy intervention.
Methods: One hundred patients were asked to complete the WOMAC and OKS and to perform the timed up-and-go test and 6-min walk test once pre-intervention and again after 4-week physiotherapy intervention (post-intervention). Responsiveness was determined by correlation analysis and receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve.

Background/objective: Effective hemostasis has the potential to reduce inflammation and pain, leading to potential benefits in the early rehabilitation of patients who undergo elbow arthrolysis. In the present study, we aim to assesse the effects of tranexamic acid (TXA) on elbow arthrolysis postoperative blood loss, patients' pain perception according to the visual analog scale (VAS), elbow range of motion (ROM), and complications.
Methods: We systematically searched PubMed, Web of Science, SCOPUS, and Cochrane Library.

Highly conserved transport protein particle (TRAPP) complexes regulate subcellular trafficking pathways. Accurate protein trafficking has been increasingly recognized to be critically important for normal development, particularly in the nervous system. Variants in most TRAPP complex subunits have been found to lead to neurodevelopmental disorders with diverse but overlapping phenotypes.

In clinical practice, bone defects that occur alongside tumors, infections, or other bone diseases present significant challenges in the orthopedic field. Although autologous and allogeneic grafts are introduced as common traditional remedies in this field, their applications have a series of limitations. Various approaches have been attempted to treat large and irregularly shaped bone defects; however, their success has been less than optimal due to a range of issues related to material and design.
