Objective: To compare the association between different anthropometric measurements and incident type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and to assess their predictive ability in different regions of Germany.
Methods: Data of 10,258 participants from 4 prospective population-based cohorts were pooled to assess the association of body weight, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist-to-hip-ratio (WHR) and waist-to-height-ratio (WHtR) with incident T2DM by calculating HRs of the crude, adjusted and standardised markers, as well as providing receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curves. Differences between HRs and ROCs for the different anthropometric markers were calculated to compare their predictive ability.

Objectives: Occupational exposure to asbestos is associated with increased mortality which, however, has not been thoroughly validated in a general population. We have aimed at exploring whether this association may be confirmed within a population-based setting after adjustment for confounders. Furthermore, the impact of tobacco consumption on the association between occupational exposure to asbestos and mortality is assessed.

Background: There is a lack of knowledge about antidementia drug treatment in community dwelling people with dementia in Germany.
Objective: To determine the frequency of treatment with antidementia drugs in patients in primary care, and the socio-demographic and clinical variables associated with antidementia drug treatment.
Methods: Present analyses are based on preliminary data from the DelpHi-trial, an ongoing GP-based, cluster-randomized, controlled intervention trial to implement and evaluate an innovative concept of collaborative dementia care management in Germany.

Background: The present study is the first to analyze primary data about the use of antipsychotic drugs among community dwelling people with dementia in German primary care.
Objectives: To determine (1) prevalence of antipsychotic drug treatment in German primary care patients who screened positive for dementia and (2) factors associated with antipsychotic drug treatment.
Methods: DelpHi-MV (Dementia: life- and person-centered help in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) is an ongoing general practitioner-based, randomized, controlled intervention trial.

Background: Results of cost-of-illness studies in dementia have shown a considerable divergence in costs of medication for persons with dementia. However, detailed economic analyses of medication costs for community-dwelling persons with dementia are currently still missing, especially on the basis of primary data.
Objective: To determine medication cost, cost per drug, and number of drugs taken of community-dwelling persons with dementia and analyze their associated factors; to estimate the current price reduction of anti-dementia drugs due to implementation of low-priced generics.

Background: Primary data about rates of formal diagnosis of dementia in the German primary care sector are widely lacking.
Objectives: Main objectives are to analyze the rate of syndrome diagnosis in primary care patients who screened positive for dementia, the distribution of differential diagnoses, and factors associated with undiagnosed dementia.
Methods: DelpHi-MV (Dementia: life- and person-centered help in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) is an ongoing general practitioner (GP)-based, randomized, controlled intervention trial.
