Sustainability of Enzymatic Monomer Synthesis: Evaluation via Comparison of Petrochemical and Enzymatic Alkene Epoxidation by Life Cycle Assessment.

Life cycle assessment (LCA) was used, next to green chemistry concepts, to compare the full environmental impacts of the epoxidation of a bio-based monomer, which can be used for the synthesis of vitrimers. On a laboratory scale, the synthesis of the monomer can either be done via a petrochemical route or via an enzymatic reaction pathway. Both reaction pathways were initially optimized to minimize the impact of suboptimal routes on the sustainability evaluation.

Clinical and radiographic outcomes of extra-short implants (≤ 6 mm) in the posterior atrophic jaws: a retrospective cohort study.

Objective: This study aimed at investigating implant survival rate and marginal bone loss (MBL) around extra-short implants. The impact of the loading protocol and of the use of an intermediate abutment was also evaluated, to explore possible differences in terms of the outcome measures.

Materials And Methods: Patients with single or multiple mandibular or maxillary posterior edentulism rehabilitated using extra-short 5-6 mm long implants were included.

Existing studies on this effect are old, rare and only consider phantom measurements, not patient studies. This study investigates the effect of the patient table on attenuation based on the difference between reconstructions of phantom scans and polar maps of patient studies.

The Orange Carotenoid Protein (OCP) is a unique water-soluble photoactive protein that plays a critical role in regulating the balance between light harvesting and photoprotective responses in cyanobacteria. The challenge in understanding OCP´s photoactivation mechanism stems from the heterogeneity of the initial configurations of its embedded ketocarotenoid, which in the dark-adapted state can form up to two hydrogen bonds to critical amino acids in the protein's C-terminal domain, and the extremely low quantum yield of primary photoproduct formation. While a series of experiments involving point mutations within these contacts helped us to identify these challenges, they did not resolve them.

Purpose: Magnetic Resonance Imaging based brain segmentation and volumetry has become an important tool in clinical routine and research. However the impact of the used hardware is only barely investigated. This study aims to assess the influence of scanner manufacturer, field strength and head-coil on volumetry results.

Impact of calreticulin mutations on treatment and survival outcomes in myelofibrosis during ruxolitinib therapy.

Calreticulin (CALR) mutations are detected in around 20% of patients with primary and post-essential thrombocythemia myelofibrosis (MF). Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome on the Operating Room Table After a Robotic Radical Nephrectomy: A Case Report.

An elderly patient with renal cell carcinoma underwent a robotic nephrectomy. After an uneventful intraoperative period, soon after extubation she developed generalized seizures and was diagnosed with posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) on neuroimaging. Management included antiepileptic and antihypertensive therapies, necessitating intensive care and neurorehabilitation.

Purpose: Self-testing has been proven to significantly improve not only simple learning outcomes, but also higher-order skills such as clinical reasoning in medical students. Previous studies have shown that self-testing was especially beneficial when it was presented with feedback, which leaves the question whether an immediate and personalized feedback further encourages this effect. Therefore, we hypothesised that individual feedback has a greater effect on learning outcomes, compared to generic feedback.

Neurologic immune-related adverse events (nirAEs) represent rare, yet severe side effects associated with immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy. Given the absence of established diagnostic biomarkers for nirAEs, we aimed to evaluate the diagnostic utility of serum Neurofilament Light Chain (NfL) and Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP). Fifty-three patients were included at three comprehensive cancer centers, of these 20 patients with manifest nirAEs and 11 patients with irHypophysitis.

In many cases, snowboarders learn and practice tricks using training tools such as trampolins and/or landingbags before they transfer this tricks on-snow. It has not yet been scientifically investigated which movement parameters are primarily responsible for the acquisistion of increasingly difficult cork tricks.

RNase P cleavage of pseudoknot substrates reveals differences in active site architecture that depend on residue N-1 in the 5' leader.

We show that a small biotin-binding RNA aptamer that folds into a pseudoknot structure acts as a substrate for bacterial RNase P RNA (RPR) with and without the RNase P C5 protein. Cleavage in the single-stranded region in loop 1 was shown to depend on the presence of a RCCA-motif at the 3' end of the substrate. The nucleobase and the 2'hydroxyl at the position immediately 5' of the cleavage site contribute to both cleavage efficiency and site selection, where C at this position induces significant cleavage at an alternative site, one base upstream of the main cleavage site.
