Chloroethenes (CHCl with = 1, 2, 3, 4) are produced and consumed in various industrial processes. As the release of these compounds into air, water, and soils can pose significant risks to human health and the environment, different techniques have been exploited to prevent or remediate chloroethene pollution. Although several previous experimental and computational studies investigated the removal of chloroethenes using zeolite adsorbents, their structural diversity in terms of pore size and pore topology has hardly been explored so far.

variants in children with neurodevelopmental impairment are difficult to assess due to their heterogeneity and unclear pathogenic mechanisms. We describe a child with neonatal-onset epilepsy, developmental impairment of intermediate severity, and G256W heterozygosity. Analyzing prior KCNQ2 channel cryoelectron microscopy models revealed G256 as a node of an arch-shaped non-covalent bond network linking S5, the pore turret, and the ion path.

Singapore-ETH Centre, Future Health Technologies Programme, Singapore, Singapore.
Soft robotics is gaining interest in rehabilitation applications, bringing new opportunities to offset the loss of upper limb motor function following neurological, neuromuscular, or traumatic injuries. Unlike conventional rigid robotics, the added softness in linkages or joints promises to make rehabilitation robots compliant, which translates into higher levels of safety, comfort, usability, and portability, opening the door for these rehabilitation technologies to be used in daily life. While several reviews documented the different technical implementations of soft rehabilitation robots, it is essential to discuss the growing clinical evidence on the feasibility and effectiveness of using this technology for rehabilitative and assistive purposes, whether softness brings the expected advantages from the perspective of end users, and how we should proceed in the future of this field.

Thyroid hormones (TH) are major regulators of cell differentiation, growth, and metabolic rate. TH synthesis in the thyroid gland requires high amounts of HO to oxidize iodide for the iodination of thyroglobulin (TG). Retinol Saturase (RetSat) is an oxidoreductase implicated in dihydroretinol formation and cellular sensitivity toward peroxides and ferroptosis.

Purpose: Overlapping genes are involved with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and DNA repair pathways. Therefore, we hypothesised that patients with a high polygenic risk score (PRS) for RA will have an increased risk of radiotherapy (RT) toxicity given the involvement of DNA repair.
Methods: Primary analysis was performed on 1494 prostate cancer, 483 lung cancer and 1820 breast cancer patients assessed for development of RT toxicity in the REQUITE study.

In Morocco, family caregivers of cancer patients face significant challenges due to the absence of legal recognition and structured support systems. This article highlights the urgent need to develop alternative solutions to meet their specific needs. It explores the potential of online platforms to enhance caregivers' skills and provide essential psychological support.

Scholars usually distinguish between testimonial and hermeneutical epistemic injustice in healthcare. The former arises from negative stereotyping and stigmatization, while the latter occurs when the hermeneutical resources of the dominant community are inadequate for articulating the experience of one's illness. However, the heuristics provided by these two types of epistemic predicaments tend to overlook salient forms of epistemic injustice.

Purpose: Polypharmacy is a widespread phenomenon in older patients. In particular, the anticholinergic burden of medication is an important risk factor for delirium due to age-related changes in the cholinergic system.
Methods: Preoperative medication, including the calculation of the anticholinergic burden (ACB), was recorded in a prospective study (421 patients) to identify potential risks associated with medication intake.

Background: The majority of people in need of care in Germany are cared for at home by relatives or other close individuals. Many informal caregivers are also in paid employment and face the challenge of juggling the demands of both areas of life. This can adversely affect the caregiver's own health.

Motivation And Results: Crypt4GH-JS is a browser-ready implementation of the Crypt4GH file encryption standard written in JavaScript. While having minimal to no impact on data upload and download throughput this library enables on-the-fly encryption of arbitrary data in web applications, regardless of whether on the client or server side. As development moves more and more towards cloud-native applications, this library represents a significant step forward for flexible data security in the context of opaque cloud storage systems.

Treatment Planning Systems (TPS) offer algorithms for distortion correction (DC) of Magnetic Resonance (MR) images, whose performances demand proper evaluation. This work develops a procedure using a virtual phantom to quantitatively assess a TPS DC algorithm. Variations of the digital Brainweb MR study were created by introducing known distortions and Control Points (CPs).

Background: Facial transplantation (FT) provides advanced solutions for severe facial defects by incorporating complex tissues such as bone, skin, oral mucosa and nerves. Oral health plays a critical role in FT, impacting both functional outcomes and transplant prognosis. Despite its importance, literature on oral health in FT recipients remains sparse.

Halide perovskites have attracted recent attention as thermoelectric materials due to their low thermal conductivity combined with good charge transport characteristics. The tin halide perovskites hold the highest within metal halide perovskites and offer lower toxicity than lead-containing perovskites that are well-known for photovoltaics. In this study, we partially substitute Sn (II) with Ge (II) to form mixed metal CsSnGeI perovskite thin films that have substantially improved stability, remaining in the black orthorhombic phase after hours of ambient air exposure.

Adenoid cystic carcinomas (AdCC) of salivary gland origin have long been categorized as fusion-defined carcinomas owing to the almost universal presence of the gene fusion MYB::NFIB, or less commonly MYBL1::NFIB. Sinonasal AdCC is an aggressive salivary gland malignancy with no effective systemic therapy. Therefore, it is urgent to search for potentially targetable genetic alterations associated with AdCC.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFNanocatalytic medicine for treating cancer requires effective, versatile and novel tools and approaches to significantly improve the therapeutic efficiency for the interactions of (non-)enzymatic reactions. However, it is necessary to develop (non-)enzymatic nanotechnologies capable of selectively killing tumour cells without harming normal cells. Their therapeutic characteristics should be the adaption of tumours' extra- and intracellular environment to being specifically active.

Interest in organic solar cells (OSCs) is constantly rising in the field of photovoltaic devices. The device performance relies on the bulk heterojunction (BHJ) nanomorphology, which develops during the drying process and additional post-treatment. This work investigates the effect of thermal annealing (TA) on the all-small molecule DRCN5T:PCBM blend with phase field simulations.
