Introduction: People with the human immunodeficiency virus (PWH) who were diagnosed long ago are more prone to age-related conditions and comorbidities than the general population. We hypothesized that older PWH have endocrine abnormalities that may influence the patient's health status.
Methods: Mean hormonal values across the thyrotropic, somatotropic, corticotropic, and gonadal axis, and percentage of subjects with abnormal values, were compared between PWH aged ≥50 years (n=30) and people without HIV (n=30) (Over50 cohort).

Management of Cushing's syndrome (CS) can be particularly challenging in older patients, compared with younger individuals, due to the lack of several clinical features associated with cortisol excess along with a greater burden of associated comorbidities. Moreover, the interpretation of diagnostic tests could be influenced by age-related physiological changes in cortisol secretion. While mortality is higher and quality of life is more impaired in the elderly with CS as compared with the younger, there is currently no agreement on the most effective therapeutic options in aged individuals, and safety data concerning medical treatment are scanty.

Purpose: This study investigates the potential of inflammatory parameters (IP), symptoms, and patient-related outcome measurements as biomarkers of severity and their ability to predict tuberculosis (TB) evolution.
Methods: People with TB were included prospectively in the Stage-TB study conducted at five clinical sites in Barcelona (Spain) between April 2018 and December 2021. Data on demographics, epidemiology, clinical features, microbiology, and Sanit George Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) and Kessler-10 as Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) were collected at three time points during treatment.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients included in the European Registry on Cushing's syndrome (ERCUSYN), compare their clinical characteristics with those who did not develop VTE and identify risk factors for VTE.
Design: A retrospective observational cohort study.
Methods: Data extraction from the registry was taken on February, 7, 2022.

Background: The duration and regimen of tuberculosis (TB) treatment is currently based predominantly on whether the M. tuberculosis (Mtb) strain is drug-sensitive (DS) or multidrug-resistant (MDR) with doses adjusted by patients' weight only. The systematic stratification of patients for personalized treatment does not exist for TB.

Background: Patients with Cushing's disease (CD) in remission maintain an increased cardiovascular risk. Impaired characteristics of gut microbiome (dysbiosis) have been associated with several cardiometabolic risk factors.
Methods: Twenty-eight female non-diabetic patients with CD in remission with a mean ± SD) age of 51 ± 9 years, mean ( ± SD) BMI, 26 ± 4, median (IQR) duration of remission, 11(4) years and 24 gender-, age, BMI-matched controls were included.

Objective: To evaluate whether age-related differences exist in clinical characteristics, diagnostic approach, and management strategies in patients with Cushing's syndrome (CS) included in the European Registry on Cushing's Syndrome (ERCUSYN).
Design: Cohort study.
Methods: We analyzed 1791 patients with CS, of whom 1234 (69%) had pituitary-dependent CS (PIT-CS), 450 (25%) adrenal-dependent CS (ADR-CS), and 107 (6%) had an ectopic source (ECT-CS).

Background: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) and preclinical atherosclerosis are associated with higher cardiovascular risk. However, no studies have investigated the predictive role of DR and preclinical atherosclerosis jointly on cardiovascular events in subjects with type 2 diabetes (T2D). We aimed to assess the contribution of DR and subclinical atherosclerosis on the risk of adverse cardiovascular events in subjects with T2D without previous cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Few data are available concerning patients' experiences of diagnosis, care and persistent comorbidities.
Objective: To assess CS patients' perspectives on the diagnostic and care journey to identify unmet therapeutic needs.

Introduction: Computer-aided diagnostic (CAD) programs for malignancy risk stratification from ultrasound (US) imaging of thyroid nodules are being validated both experimentally and in real-world practice. However, they have not been tested for reliability in analyzing difficult or unclear images.
Methods: US images with indeterminate characteristics were evaluated by five observers with different experience in US examination and by a commercial CAD program.

Aim: To evaluate the long-term efficacy of percutaneous ethanol injection treatment (PEIT) as an alternative to thyroid surgery in symptomatic thyroid cysts.
Patients And Methods: 100 subjects (48±12 years; 58% women) with symptomatic thyroid cysts relapsing after drainage were prospectively included. PEIT was conducted using an established procedure, and the initial cyst volume, symptoms and pain perceived by the patient were assessed.

Gut microbiota can contribute to the development and progression of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In fact, some specific changes of gut microbiota are observed in patients in what is called dysbiota. There has been a lot of investigation by using a variety of interventions, including diet, showing the possibility to modify components of gastrointestinal dysbiota towards healthy and multivariate microbiota to restore physiologic status.

Objective: To investigate whether variations in thyroglobulin autoantibodies (TgAb) are related to the recurrence or persistence of differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) and may therefore be useful as surrogate tumor markers. . We retrospectively studied 98 subjects (83 women, 47 ± 15 years old) from an initial cohort of 1017 patients treated for DTC in five hospitals, with positive TgAb at any time during the follow-up.
