Introduction: Distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) instabilities are challenging and their optimal treatment is controversial. In special cases or when reconstruction of the stabilizing triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) fails, K-wire transfixation can be performed. However, no consensus has been reached regarding the rotational position of the forearm in which this should be done.

Juvenile Osteochondritis Dissecans (JOCD) is a common reason for knee pain among children. The aim of this case study was to report on clinical and radiographic outcomes after fixation of an osteochondral fragment with bioabsorbable pins in children with open growth plates. We hypothesized that surgical treatment with this technique will result in good function, high rates of radiographic healing and high return to sport rates.

Morphologic Alterations of the Sternoclavicular Joint following Ipsilateral Clavicle Fractures.

Int J Environ Res Public Health

November 2022

BG Trauma Center Ludwigshafen, Heidelberg University, Ludwig-Guttmann-Straße 13, 67071 Ludwigshafen, Germany.

Rationale: To our knowledge, no study has investigated concomitant injuries of the sternoclavicular joint (SCJ) in acute clavicle fractures. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of an ipsilateral clavicle fracture on the SCJ in a systematic computer tomography (CT) morphologic evaluation.

Methods: CT scans in the axial and coronal plane of 45 consecutive patients with clavicle fractures were retrospectively analyzed.

Injury patterns following simple elbow dislocation: radiological analysis implies existence of a pure valgus dislocation mechanism.

Arch Orthop Trauma Surg

October 2021

Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Arcus Sportklinik ARCUS Kliniken, Rastatter Str. 17-19, 75179, Pforzheim, Germany.

Introduction: The aim of the present study was to analyze the injury pattern and thus the dislocation mechanism after simple elbow dislocation using radiographs and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data sets.

Materials And Methods: The MRI data sets of 64 patients with a mean age of 44 years (18-77 years) were analyzed retrospectively. The inclusion criteria for the study were (1) radiograph with confirmed simple elbow dislocation, (2) low-energy trauma, (3) MRI of the affected elbow ≤ 3 weeks after trauma.

Short-term safety, function, and quality of life in patients treated with Univers Revers prosthesis: a multicenter 2-year follow-up case series.

J Shoulder Elbow Surg

November 2020

Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Schulthess Clinic, Zürich, Switzerland; Research, Teaching and Development, Schulthess Clinic, Zürich, Switzerland. Electronic address:

Background: The use of reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) has dramatically increased in recent years with the advent of new prosthesis designs regularly entering the market. We define the rate of local complications during the first 2 years after RTSA with the Univers Revers prosthesis and describe the changes in radiologic outcomes, as well as function, pain, satisfaction, and quality of life.

Methods: This multicenter, prospective case series included rotator cuff tear arthropathy patients who underwent RTSA with the Univers Revers.

Introduction: Rotator cuff tears (rct) subsequent to glenohumeral dislocation are relevant concomitant injuries, can lead to impaired shoulder function and increase risk of recurrent dislocation.

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the functional outcome, recurrent dislocation rate and tendon integrity after rotator cuff repair after primary traumatic shoulder dislocation.

Materials And Methods: In this retrospective case series, 23 patients (age 56.

Pain among young athletes requires special attention given that symptoms occur during the ongoing development of the conditional, and in particular, the motor capacities, and while the musculoskeletal system is in a continuous process of growth. The purpose of this study was to evaluate prevalence, location, context, and coping strategies regarding pain among young athletes. We chose survey data of young elite athletes from the highest level national basketball leagues in Germany, as this meant that health implications may be observed earlier and in a more pronounced manner.

Background: Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the humeral head is a severe complication after proximal humerus fracture dislocations, and leads to a poorer clinical outcome and subsequent revision surgeries. The aim of the current study was to analyze the influence of time to surgery on the AVN rate after locked plating of dislocation fractures of the proximal humerus.

Patients And Methods: This retrospective study included 30 patients with a mean age of 63 ± 14 years with dislocation fractures of the proximal humerus type B3 or C3 according the AO/OTA classification.

Introduction: An increasing number of young patients are diagnosed with chondral lesions. Minimally invasive surgical techniques are important in order to delay progression of the early stages of osteoarthritis and the need for total joint replacement.

Materials And Methods: Patients ( = 32) who had received microfracturing of the shoulder were retrospectively enrolled, of whom 5 had received shoulder replacements after a mean time of 47 months.
