To provide precise medical regimens, photonics technologies have been involved in the field of nanomedicine. Phototriggered liposomes have been cast as promising nanosystems that achieve controlled release of payloads in several pathological conditions such as cancer, autoimmune, and infectious diseases. In contrast to the conventional liposomes, this photoresponsive element greatly improves therapeutic efficacy and reduces the adverse effects of gene/drug therapy during treatment.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly fatal malignancy with limited therapeutic options and high recurrence rates. Recently, immunotherapeutic agents such as immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have emerged as a new paradigm shift in oncology. ICIs, such as programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitors, have provided a new source of hope for patients with advanced HCC.

Background: The tumor microenvironment (TME) represents a barrier to PDT efficacy among melanoma patients. The aim of this study is to employ a novel muti-tactic TME-remodeling strategy via repolarization of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), the main TME immune cells in melanoma, from the pro-tumor M2 into the antitumor M1 phenotype using Phoenix dactylifera L. (date palm) in combination with PDT.

A magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (MMIP) was synthesised and tested for an rheumatoid arthritis (RA) rat model. Magnetite coated with mesoporous silica (FeO@mSi) was used as core for surface imprinting, dopamine was used as monomer and methotrexate (MTX) was loaded directly during polymerisation. The amount of MTX loaded on MMIPs reached 201.

This study uses ball milling at various milling times to create an aluminum matrix composite (AMC) reinforced with magnetite nanoparticles. The milling time was optimized to create an AMC with favorable mechanical and magnetic properties, and its effect on magnetism, microstructure, and hardness was studied.

Blindness is a main threat that affects the daily life activities of any human. Visual prostheses have been introduced to provide artificial vision to the blind with the aim of allowing them to restore confidence and independence. In this article, we propose an approach that involves four image enhancement techniques to facilitate object recognition and localization for visual prostheses users.

Achieving a normal gait trajectory for an amputee's active prosthesis is challenging due to its kinematic complexity. Accordingly, lower limb gait trajectory kinematics and gait phase segmentation are essential parameters in controlling an active prosthesis. Recently, the most practiced algorithm in gait trajectory generation is the neural network.

N6-methyl-adenosine (mA) is the most prevalent modification on mRNAs and long noncoding RNAs (lnRNAs) in higher eukaryotes. Modulation of mA relies on mA writers, erasers and readers. mA modification contributes to diverse fundamental biological functions at the molecular, cellular, and physiological levels.

By means of electrical stimulation of the visual system, visual prostheses provide promising solution for blind patients through partial restoration of their vision. Despite the great success achieved so far in this field, the limited resolution of the perceived vision using these devices hinders the ability of visual prostheses users to correctly recognize viewed objects. Accordingly, we propose a deep learning approach based on generative adversarial networks (GANs), termed prosthetic vision GAN (PVGAN), to enhance object recognition for the implanted patients by representing objects in the field of view based on a corresponding simplified clip art version.
