Introduction: This study evaluated patient-reported outcome measures and reinjury rates in higher-risk adolescents and young adults aged 14-25 years old following Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction using autograft with suture tape augmentation (SA ACLR).
Materials And Methods: We performed a retrospective case series of patients aged 14-25 who underwent SA ACLR by a single surgeon between 2016 and 2020. After a minimum of 2 years of follow-up, data was collected on reinjury and patient reported outcome measures, including Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), Marx Activity Rating Scale (MARS), Single Assessment Numeric Evaluation (SANE), and Visual Analog Pain Scale (VAPS).

Background: The 42 days after delivery ("fourth trimester") are a high-risk period for birthing individuals and newborns, especially those who are racially and ethnically marginalized due to structural racism.
Objective: To fill a gap in the critical "fourth trimester," we developed 2 ruled-based chatbots-one for birthing individuals and one for newborn caregivers-that provided trusted information about postbirth warning signs and newborn care and connected patients with health care providers.
Methods: A total of 4370 individuals received the newborn chatbot outreach between September 1, 2022, and December 31, 2023, and 3497 individuals received the postpartum chatbot outreach between November 16, 2022, and December 31, 2023.

Objective: Collecting and analyzing patient safety event (PSE) reports is a key component to the improvement of patient safety yet report analysis has been challenging. Large language models (LLMs) may support analysis; however, PSE reports tend to be a hybrid of clinical and general language.
Materials And Methods: We propose a data-driven evaluation strategy to assess LLM fit for report analysis.

Objectives: To describe and assess the vertical sectioning technique for mid vault dissection in patients undergoing primary and secondary rhinoplasty.
Methods: A retrospective review of 208 patients undergoing primary or revision rhinoplasty utilizing the vertical sectioning technique. The Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation (NOSE) scale was administered to patients pre- and post-operatively.

Background: Thyroid cancer (TC) remains a significant clinical challenge worldwide, with a subset of patients facing aggressive disease progression and therapeutic resistance. Immune checkpoint inhibitors targeting programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) have emerged as promising therapeutic approaches for various malignancies, yet their efficacy in TC remains uncertain. The objective of this study was to investigate PD-L1 expression in aggressive TC and its association with histological subtypes, molecular mutation, and progression-free survival.

The BOOST-2 trial indicated that optimising brain oxygen (PbtO2) could be a viable therapeutic target for severe traumatic brain injury (sTBI). Previous studies have suggested the safety of airway pressure release ventilation (APRV) in sTBI patients, but its effect on PbtO2 has not been demonstrated. This study is aimed to show that APRV can improve PbtO2 in sTBI patients.

Granulosa cell tumors (GCT) represent a rare subtype of ovarian cancers. A majority of these tumors express androgen receptor (AR), making them hormonally sensitive. AR positivity not only suggests a potential role of anti-androgen therapy in treating these tumors but also poses a cause for concern: female to male (FTM) transgender patients undergoing exogenous testosterone therapy may be at risk for recurrence, progression, or even incidence of this type of cancer.

Purpose: This study aims to characterize the experiences of integrated IR/DR applicants and program directors (PDs) participating in the first completely virtual application process during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: Survey questionnaires were distributed to IR/DR applicants and PDs for the 2020-2021 application cycle. Applicants were asked questions regarding social media presence, number of interviews received, preference of the in-person interview process, and descriptive experiences of the process.

Fillet of toe flap (FTF) leverages the "spare parts" algorithm in reconstructive surgery-utilizing tissue from amputated or otherwise non-salvageable body parts, thus avoiding donor-site morbidity. This study assesses the efficacy of FTF coverage in non-traumatic foot amputations. A retrospective review of patients undergoing foot amputation with FTF coverage between January 2013 to August 2023 was conducted.

Chronic low back pain represents a leading cause of global disability, but can often be complex in etiology, with multiple pain generators contributing to patient discomfort. Anterior column low back pain involves the vertebral bodies and discs, with the vertebral body endplates now known to be a significant pain generator. Vertebrogenic low back pain secondary to irritation of the basivertebral nerve presents as axial discomfort, worse with forward flexion, and with concomitant Type I or II Modic changes on MRI.

Purpose: Following treatment for localized prostate cancer, a subset of men will develop recurrent disease in the abdominopelvic nodes. For radiation therapy (RT), the optimal treatment volume, fractionation schedule, and dose remain unanswered questions. We report early outcomes for patients treated with involved-field stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) (IF-SBRT) for nodal oligo-recurrent (NOR) prostate cancer.

Importance: Prior research has demonstrated an association between vitamin D deficiency and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in adults; however, its association with pediatric OSA is emerging.
Objective: To evaluate the association of vitamin D levels with obstructive Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) in children with OSA.
Design, Settings, And Participants: This was a cross-sectional study of children aged 2 to 16 years with severe obstructive OSA (AHI ≥20 on polysomnogram) who were undergoing adenotonsillectomy at a tertiary care pediatric otolaryngology clinic from 2017 to 2022.

Thermal ablation is used to treat liver metastasis including those from breast cancer. The ablation is associated with pain, hemorrhage, and biliary structure damage leading to bilomas. Biloma is a collection of bile that can occur inside or outside the biliary system, which could happen as a rare complication of surgery (from procedures like abdominal surgery or diagnostic procedures), trauma, or spontaneously.

Background: Symptomatic postoperative spinal epidural hematomas (PEDHs) are rare complications, with significant implications on patients' functional outcomes. Strategies for PEDH prevention are poorly understood. This study sought to evaluate preoperative and intraoperative variables predicting the risk of PEDH and patients' functional outcomes after PEDH evacuation.

Purpose: Estimating resection weight for patients undergoing reduction mammoplasty (RM) informs surgical planning and outcomes. Existing formulas have limitations that make insurance coverage and accurate surgical planning challenging. We identified the most commonly used scales to evaluate their accuracy in estimating resection weight by applying them to a database of patients to compare calculated and actual resection weights.

The establishment of the Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS) in 2011 provided a comprehensive approach to standardized imaging, interpretation, and reporting of liver observations in patients diagnosed with or at risk for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Each set of algorithms provides criteria pertinent to the various components of HCC management including surveillance, diagnosis, staging, and treatment response supported by a detailed lexicon of terms applicable to a wide range of liver imaging scenarios. Before its widespread adoption, the variability in the terminology of diagnostic criteria and definitions of imaging features led to significant challenges in patient management and made it difficult to replicate findings or apply them consistently.

Cardiac physiologic pacing (CPP) after atrioventricular node (AVN) ablation for persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) has improved outcomes in patients with heart failure with reduced and preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Emerging evidence suggests patients with HFpEF benefit from higher heart rates, yet the optimal pacing rate after AVN ablation remains unknown. Optimal Pacing Rate for cardiac resynchronization therapy after atrioventricular node ablation in persistent Atrial Fibrillation and heart failure (OPT-RATE AF) is a prospective, randomized crossover study of patients with HFpEF after AVN ablation for persistent AF (NCT06445439).
