Human adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction (hSVF) cells are an easily accessible, heterogeneous cell system that can spontaneously self-assemble into functional microvasculatures in vivo. However, the mechanisms underlying vascular self-assembly and maturation are poorly understood, therefore we utilized an in vitro model to identify potential in vivo regulatory mechanisms. We utilized passage one (P1) hSVF because of the rapid UEA1+ endothelium (EC) loss at even P2 culture.

Acquiring sufficient amounts of high-quality cells remains an impediment to cell-based therapies. Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) may be an unparalleled source, but autologous iPSC likely retain deficiencies requiring correction. We present a strategy for restoring physiological function in genetically deficient iPSC utilizing the low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) deficiency Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) as our model.

Background: Controlled qualitative methods complement quantitative treatment outcome research and enable a more thorough understanding of the effects of therapy and the suspected mechanisms of action.
Aims: Thematic analyses were used to examine outcomes of cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in a randomized controlled trial of individuals diagnosed with military-related PTSD (n = 15).
Method: After sessions 1 and 11, participants wrote "impact statements" describing their appraisals of their trauma and beliefs potentially impacted by traumatic events.

Object permanence refers to the ability to process information about objects even when they are not visible. One stage of object permanence, called visible displacement, involves being able to find an object that has been fully hidden from view. Visible displacement has been demonstrated in many animal species, yet very little is known about object permanence in marine mammals.

A method is described for reconstructing the 3-dimensional coordinates of anatomical landmarks from multiple video images. This method consists of 2 stages: (1) separate reconstructions of landmark coordinates visible in dorsal and ventral orientations using Direct Linear Transformation (Abdel-Aziz & Karara, 1972), and (2) least-squares alignment of the partial reconstructions using landmarks present in both. The repeatability of the overall reconstructions and of individual landmarks were assessed by performing multiple independent reconstructions of landmark coordinates for 2 camd specimens.

To assess whether increased arousal would differentially affect hypermnesia (enhanced recall) for imaginally encoded concrete and abstract words, two sets of materials (a violent videotape for high arousal and a bird-nest-building videotape for low arousal) were interpolated at four different points in a memory experiment. A pilot experiment measuring the change in heart rate before and after the viewing of two sets of materials confirmed the relationship between self-reported arousal and physiological state. Evidence suggests that only when arousing materials are experienced during the retention interval will hypermnesia be inhibited.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether hypermnesia (improved net recall over time) can be differentially affected by manipulating the nature of tasks performed during the intervals between successive recall trials. In Experiment 1, all subjects were asked to imaginally encode separate words and were tested three times for recall. The control group (no interpolated task) produced the hypermnesia effect.
