Background: Racial disparities have been shown to influence rates of surgery for patients with rotator cuff disease. Some individuals have attributed adverse social determinants of health (SDOHs) as potential confounders of this relationship between race and surgery rate. However, there is a paucity of literature observing whether adverse SDOHs and race independently influence rotator cuff surgery rates.

Skin of color in dermatology encompasses individuals of various ethnic backgrounds including Black or those of African descent, Hispanic or Latino, Asian, Native American, Pacific Islander, and those of mixed ethnicities. Because these populations continue to expand, more patients of color (POC) are seeking out cosmetic enhancements and treatments. Aside from cosmeceuticals, nonsurgical cosmetic rejuvenation options, such laser and light-based treatments, neurotoxins, soft tissue augmentation, and more recently body contouring and skin tightening, are becoming increasingly popular worldwide.

Congenital cutaneous candidiasis (CCC) is a rare condition, which typically affects premature and very low birthweight neonates. Affected infants present with a diffuse rash of variable morphology, which can appear as peeling, sloughing desquamation; maculopapular lesions; or, less commonly, pustules, vesicles, or bullae. Due to the varied nature of the clinical presentation, the diagnosis of CCC can be quite difficult but critically important because early treatment with intravenous fluconazole can prevent disease progression.

Recent technological advances in glycobiology have resulted in a large influx of data and the publication of many papers describing discoveries in glycoscience. However, the terms used in describing glycan structural features are not standardized, making it difficult to harmonize data across biomolecular databases, hampering the harvesting of information across studies and hindering text mining and curation efforts. To address this shortcoming, the Glycan Structure Dictionary has been developed as a reference dictionary to provide a standardized list of widely used glycan terms that can help in the curation and mapping of glycan structures described in publications.
