Impact of Treatment With Trifluridine/Tipiracil in Combination With Bevacizumab on Health-Related Quality of Life and Performance Status in Refractory Metastatic Colorectal Cancer: An Analysis of the Phase III SUNLIGHT Trial.

Background: The efficacy of trifluridine/tipiracil (FTD/TPI) + bevacizumab compared to FTD/TPI for treatment of refractory metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) was demonstrated in the SUNLIGHT trial. This analysis of SUNLIGHT investigated the impact of treatment with FTD/TPI + bevacizumab on patient quality of life (QoL) and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (ECOG PS).

Methods: Questionnaires (EORTC QLQ-C30 and EQ-5D-5L) and ECOG PS assessments were conducted at baseline and on Day 1 of each treatment cycle.

Endoscopic papillectomy versus surgical ampullectomy for adenomas and early cancers of the papilla: a retrospective Pancreas2000/European Pancreatic Club analysis.

Objective: Ampullary neoplastic lesions can be resected by endoscopic papillectomy (EP) or transduodenal surgical ampullectomy (TSA) while pancreaticoduodenectomy is reserved for more advanced lesions. We present the largest retrospective comparative study analysing EP and TSA.

Design: Of all patients in the database, lesions with prior interventions, benign histology advanced malignancy (T2 and more), patients with hereditary syndromes and those undergoing pancreatoduodenectomy were excluded.

Nodal radiotherapy for prostate adenocarcinoma recurrence: predictive factors for efficacy.

Background: Nodes are the second site for prostate cancer recurrence. Whole-pelvic radiotherapy (WPRT) has shown superiority over nodal stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) in two retrospective cohorts. We aimed to compare both modalities and assess factors associated with treatment outcomes.

Background: Creatinine-based equations are the most used to estimate glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). The Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI), the re-expressed Lund-Malmö Revised (r-LMR) and the European Kidney Function Consortium (EKFC) equations are the most validated. The EKFC and r-LMR equations have been suggested to have better performances in young adults, but this is debated.

Impact of extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation on neurological prognosis and survival in adult patients after cardiac arrest: An individual pooled patient data meta-analysis.

Background: We aimed to estimate the effect of extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) on neurological outcome and mortality, when compared to conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CCPR), using an individual patient data meta-analysis (IPDMA).

Methods: A systematic literature search was performed up to the 20th of October 2022 in the PubMed, EMBASE and CENTRAL databases. For observational studies with unmatched populations, a propensity score including age, location of arrest and initial rhythm was used to match ECPR and CCPR patients in a 1:1 ratio.

First-Line LV5FU2 with or without Aflibercept in Patients with Non-Resectable Metastatic Colorectal Cancer: A Randomized Phase II Trial (PRODIGE 25-FFCD-FOLFA).

Fluropyrimidine monotherapy is an option for some patients with inoperable metastatic colorectal cancer. Unlike bevacizumab, the addition of aflibercept, an antibody acting as an anti-angiogenic agent, has never been evaluated in this context. The aim of the study was to determine whether aflibercept could increase the efficacy of fluoropyrimidine monotherapy without increasing toxicity.

Pulmonary embolism risk stratification: external validation of the 4-level Clinical Pretest Probability Score (4PEPS).

Background: The 4-level clinical pretest probability score (4PEPS) was recently introduced as a clinical decision rule for the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism (PE). Based on the score, patients are classified into clinical pretest probability categories (c-PTP). The "very low" category aims at excluding PE without further testing; "low" and "moderate" categories require D-dimer testing with specific thresholds, while patients with a "high" pretest directly proceed to imaging.

Breast cancer remains the most common cause of cancer death among women. Despite its considerable histological and molecular heterogeneity, those characteristics are not distinguished in most definitions of oligometastatic disease and clinical trials of oligometastatic breast cancer. After an exhaustive review of the literature covering all aspects of oligometastatic breast cancer, 35 experts from the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Imaging and Breast Cancer Groups elaborated a Delphi questionnaire aimed at offering consensus recommendations, including oligometastatic breast cancer definition, optimal diagnostic pathways, and clinical trials required to evaluate the effect of diagnostic imaging strategies and metastasis-directed therapies.

Prognostic significance of PI-RADS 5 lesions in patients treated by radical prostatectomy.

Purpose: To analyse the pathological features and survival of patients with a PI-RADS 5 lesion on pre-biopsy MRI.

Methods: We extracted from a European multicentre prospectively gathered database the data of patients with a PI-RADS 5 lesion on pre-biopsy MRI, diagnosed using both systematic and targeted biopsies and subsequently treated by radical prostatectomy. The Kaplan-Meier model was used to assess the biochemical-free survival of the whole cohort and univariable and multivariable Cox models were set up to study factors associated with survival.

Metastatic Sites' Location and Impact on Patient Management After the Introduction of Prostate-specific Membrane Antigen Positron Emission Tomography in Newly Diagnosed and Biochemically Recurrent Prostate Cancer: A Critical Review.

ANCHOR CRC: Results From a Single-Arm, Phase II Study of Encorafenib Plus Binimetinib and Cetuximab in Previously Untreated -Mutant Metastatic Colorectal Cancer.

Purpose: The positive BEACON colorectal cancer (CRC) safety lead-in, evaluating encorafenib + cetuximab + binimetinib in previously treated patients with -mutated metastatic CRC (mCRC), prompted the design of the phase II ANCHOR CRC study (ClinicalTrails.gov identifier: NCT03693170). ANCHOR CRC aimed to evaluate efficacy, safety, and quality of life with first-line encorafenib + binimetinib + cetuximab in -mutated mCRC.

Endoscopic papillectomy for ampullary lesions in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis compared with sporadic lesions: a propensity score-matched cohort.

Background: Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is a rare inherited syndrome that predisposes the patient to cancer. Treatment of FAP-related ampullary lesions is challenging and the role of endoscopic papillectomy has not been elucidated. We retrospectively analyzed the outcomes of endoscopic papillectomy in matched cohorts of FAP-related and sporadic ampullary lesions (SALs).

Incidence and risk factors for tuberculosis among people living with HIV in Bangui: A cohort study.

Objectives: The objectives of this study were to determine the incidence and risk factors of tuberculosis (TB) among people living with HIV (PLHIV).

Methods: A cohort study was carried out in an HIV infection management centre in Bangui. PLHIV aged 18 or older, with no history of TB, enrolled between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2018 were included in the study.

Treating older adults with cancer is increasingly important in modern oncology practice. However, we currently lack the high-quality evidence needed to guide optimal management of this heterogeneous group. Principally, historic under-recruitment of older adults to clinical trials limits our understanding of how existing evidence can be applied to this group.

Light Chain-Only Immunotactoid Glomerulopathy: A Case Report.

The monotypic variant of immunotactoid glomerulopathy (ITG), strongly associated with low-grade lymphoproliferative disorders, is characterized histologically by glomerulonephritis and microtubular deposits of monoclonal immunoglobulin G (IgG). We report a patient with high-risk κ light chain multiple myeloma who presented with acute kidney injury, hematuria, proteinuria, and hypocomplementemia. Kidney biopsy revealed immunotactoid glomerulopathy concomitant with κ light chain myeloma cast nephropathy.

Cross-Ancestry Investigation of Venous Thromboembolism Genomic Predictors.

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a life-threatening vascular event with environmental and genetic determinants. Recent VTE genome-wide association studies (GWAS) meta-analyses involved nearly 30 000 VTE cases and identified up to 40 genetic loci associated with VTE risk, including loci not previously suspected to play a role in hemostasis. The aim of our research was to expand discovery of new genetic loci associated with VTE by using cross-ancestry genomic resources.
