Students in alternative high schools (AHSs) have higher levels of substance use and risky sexual behaviors than students in traditional high schools. In this mixed methods study, we examine school nurses' efforts in Texas AHSs to address substance use and sexual/reproductive health. The nurses addressed substance use and sexual reproductive health mostly at the individual level, after students initiated risky behaviors.

The development of critical thinking and decision-making skills is essential to link knowledge to practice in prelicensure nursing education. Immersive virtual reality (VR) is a teaching modality that provides students with an interactive way to develop their knowledge and skills. Faculty at a large mid-Atlantic university developed an innovative strategy to deploy immersive VR in a senior-level advanced laboratory technologies course with 110 students.

The COVID-19 pandemic magnified the need for simulation and necessitated a radical change in how educators execute simulation-based learning (SBL), highlighting new and emerging technologies. Student evaluations noted a lack of realism with screen-based and telesimulations, and faculty reported students' decreased engagement. This project enhanced SBL using robot telepresence to provide an immersive and interactive environment.

Background: To translate research supporting inpatient care outcomes and provide evidence-based care, registered nurses (RNs) need continuing education and mentoring support to adopt evidence-based practice (EBP).
Aims: The aim of this study was to assess a demonstration project intended to pilot and evaluate a structured EBP education with mentoring innovation for nurses in a multihospital system.
Methods: Nurses from five units in five hospitals were included in an education with mentoring innovation to implement the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice Model and the Advancing Research and Clinical practice through close Collaboration (ARCC) Model.

More than 50% of community-dwelling adults have sleep complaints. Because aging is associated with decline in physical function, coexistent sleep difficulties may exacerbate functional decline.
