Background: Increasing life expectancy increases breast cancer (BC) rates in elderly, where better health allows for improved tolerance of treatments. We assessed trends in BC incidence of tumor subtypes for women with focus on the elderly.
Methods: Changes in BC incidence in women by age from 2012 to 2021 were assessed using data from the Nordic countries.

Background: De-escalation of adjuvant treatment in patients with T1abN0 breast cancer is discussed internationally. Identification of new prognostic factors in these patients may assist this de-escalation. The PAM50 signature and tumor inflammation signature (TIS), Programmed Cell Death Protein 1 (PD-1) and Programmed Cell Death Ligand 1 (PD-L1) signatures are possible prognostic factors for recurrence.

: An unexpected batch-dependent safety signal for the BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccine was recently identified in a nationwide study from Denmark, but the generalizability of this finding is unknown. Therefore, we compared batch-dependent rates of suspected adverse events (SAEs) reported to national authorities in Denmark and Sweden. : SAE and vaccine batch data were received from national authorities in Denmark and Sweden, and analyses of heterogeneity in the relationship between numbers of vaccine doses and SAEs per batch were performed, along with comparison of SAE rates and severities for batches that were shared between the two countries.

Assessing a woman's risk of breast cancer is important for personalized screening. Mammographic density is a strong risk factor for breast cancer, but parenchymal texture patterns offer additional information which cannot be captured by density. We aimed to combine BI-RADS density score 4th Edition and a deep-learning-based texture score to stratify women in screening and compare rates among the combinations.

Background: With the development of immune checkpoint inhibitors for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer, the need for new functional imaging techniques and early response assessments has increased to account for new response patterns and the high cost of treatment. The present study was designed to assess the prognostic impact of dynamic contrast-enhanced computed tomography (DCE-CT) on survival outcomes in non-small cell lung cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors.
Methods: Thirty-three patients with inoperable non-small-cell lung cancer treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors were prospectively enrolled for DCE-CT as part of their follow-up.

Objectives: To investigate return to work and workforce detachment in ischemic stroke, including the association with age and level of education.
Methods: Patients in the workforce aged 18 to 60 with first-time ischemic stroke between 1997 and 2017 were identified in Danish registers and followed for 5 years. The cumulative incidence of return to work and subsequent workforce detachment was computed overall and stratified according to age group and education level.

Background: Anxiety and depression are very common in patients with COPD and may lead to lower quality of life and higher risk of exacerbations and mortality. This study aimed to examine the incidence of anxiety and depression within one year after admission with acute exacerbation in COPD (AECOPD). The secondary aim was to examine the characteristics of the patients who develop anxiety and depression.

Introduction/objectives: Spontaneous pulmonary vein (PV) activity triggers atrial fibrillation (AF) in humans. Although AF frequently occurs in horses, the origin remains unknown. This study investigated the structural and electro-anatomical properties of equine PVs to determine the potential presence of an arrhythmogenic substrate.

Background: Impaired diastolic function is a hallmark of diabetic cardiomyopathy and a common feature in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). The ratio of transmitral early filling velocity to early diastolic strain rate (E/e'sr) has in recent studies proved to have strong prognostic value. This study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of E/e'sr compared to E/e' in T1DM without known heart disease.

A novel in situ customizable osteosynthesis technique, Bonevolent™ AdhFix, demonstrates promising biomechanical properties under the expertise of a single trained operator. This study assesses inter- and intra-surgeon biomechanical variability and usability of the AdhFix osteosynthesis platform. Six surgeons conducted ten osteosyntheses on a synthetic bone fracture model after reviewing an instruction manual and completing one supervised osteosynthesis.

Aim: To investigate cognitive impairment and psychopathology in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) survivors using a screening procedure during hospitalisation and examine the evolution of these parameters at three-month follow-up.
Methods: This multicentre cohort study screened for cognitive impairment using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), for symptoms of anxiety, depression and traumatic distress using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and the Impact of Event Scale-revised (IES-R) during hospitalisation. At three-month follow-up, we evaluated cognitive impairment with a neuropsychological test battery and symptoms of psychopathology were re-assessed using HADS and IES-R.

Background: Pulsed field ablation (PFA) is a novel method of cardiac ablation where there is insufficient knowledge on the durability and reconnection patterns after pulmonary vein isolation (PVI). The aim of this study was to characterize the electrophysiological findings at time of repeat procedure in real-world atrial fibrillation (AF) patients.
Methods: Patients who underwent a repeat procedure (n=26) for symptomatic recurrent arrhythmias after index first-time treatment with single-shot PFA PVI (n=266) from July 2021 to June 2023 were investigated with 3D high-density mapping and ad-hoc re-ablation by radiofrequency or focal PFA.

Aims: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in type 1 (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). Despite diabetes affects the myocardium, risk prediction models do not include myocardial function parameters. Myocardial performance index (MPI) reflects left ventricular function.

Background: Color tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) M-mode can be used to measure the cardiac time intervals including the isovolumic contraction time (IVCT), the left ventricular ejection time (LVET), the isovolumic relaxation time (IVRT), and the combination of all the cardiac time intervals in the myocardial performance index (MPI) defined as [(IVCT + IVRT)/LVET]. The aim of this study was to establish normal age- and sex-based reference ranges for the cardiac time intervals.
Methods And Results: A total of 1969 participants free of cardiovascular diseases and risk factors from the general population with limited age range underwent an echocardiographic examination including TDI.

Aims: The risk, characteristics, and outcome of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) in patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) remain scarcely investigated.
Methods And Results: An epidemiological registry-based study was conducted. Using time-dependent Cox regression models fitted with a nested case-control design, hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals of OHCA of presumed cardiac cause (2001-19) associated with simple, moderate, and severe CHD were calculated.

Aims: We studied the effect of discontinuing beta-blockers following myocardial infarction in comparison to continuous beta-blocker use in optimally treated, stable patients without heart failure.
Methods And Results: Using nationwide registers, we identified first-time myocardial infarction patients treated with beta-blockers following percutaneous coronary intervention or coronary angiography. The analysis was based on landmarks selected as 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 years after the first redeemed beta-blocker prescription date.
