There is remarkable morphologic and genetic heterogeneity in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). In a small percentage of cases of AML, increased eosinophils and/or basophils are present in the bone marrow and sometimes in the peripheral blood. This is often a puzzling diagnostic situation but also an important finding that requires special investigation.

Introduction: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly employed perioperatively to reduce intraoperative prostaglandin release, diminishing pain, preventing miosis, modulating postoperative inflammation, and reducing the incidence of cystoid macular edema (CME).
Case Report: A 70-year-old female patient without previous history of ocular or systemic disease was urgently referred to our hospital because of a sudden corneal perforation concerning her left eye (OS). The patient had instilled bromfenac eye drops and antiseptic eye drops twice and four times daily, respectively, for 2 days only, in preparation of scheduled cataract surgery.

The spectrum of HHV-8-associated disorders includes Kaposi's sarcoma, primary effusion lymphoma, multicentric Castleman's disease, and the recently described KSHV inflammatory cytokine syndrome (KICS), a life-threatening disorder complicating HIV infection. There have been no reports in the literature concerning non-immunosuppressed individuals affected with KICS. We report here a KICS-like illness occurring in two elderly Greek men without HIV infection or other recognizable cause of immunosuppression.

Aim: To prove non-inferiority of preservative-free (PF) latanoprost versus benzalkonium chloride (BAK) containing latanoprost in lowering intraocular pressure (IOP) in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) or ocular hypertension (OHT) patients.
Design And Methods: This phase III, randomized, investigator-masked trial primarily aimed to demonstrate non-inferiority of YSLT PF latanoprost 50 μg/ml (Yonsung GmbH) to latanoprost (Xalatan®) 50 μg/ml (Pfizer) in reducing IOP from Baseline to Week 12. Secondary aims included conjunctival hyperemia evaluation and difference in ocular comfort levels.

Introduction: There has been tremendous growth in regenerative medicine during the last decade. For erectile dysfunction (ED), after the inclusion of low-intensity shockwave therapy as a treatment modality for ED management by the European Association of Urology sexual health guidelines, intracavernosal injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has gained popularity between urologists and patients as a novel ED therapeutic modality with initial promising results. However, limited clinical data exist regarding efficacy and safety in patients with ED.

The implementation of guideline recommendations for antibiotics prescription for the management of patients with acute infective conjunctivitis (AIC) in primary care departments remains below par. Our objective was to assess the impact of clinical audit on adherence to evidence-based indications for prescription of antibiotic eye drops in patients diagnosed with AIC, in the setting of a primary care practice in western Greece. We conducted a retrospective audit to evaluate the current prescription practice of antibiotics for the management of AIC.

Background: Despite advances in the treatment of oncology patients, therapy-related side effects may lead to premature morbidity. Inflammatory activation that has been linked to cardiovascular disease is crucial for the pathogenesis of both Hodgkin (HL) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the vascular effects of chemotherapy in patients with HL and NHL by positron emission tomography/computed tomography with 18-fluorodeoxyglucose (18-FDG PET/CT) and to investigate interactions with systemic inflammation as assessed by circulating inflammatory markers.

Corneal endothelium is a single cell layer that is mainly responsible for maintaining corneal clarity. Endothelial damage secondary to toxicity, stress, or genetic predisposition are common and in conjunction with the low regenerative ability of the cells, making their preservation critical for maintaining visual acuity. Patients with glaucoma, who are estimated to be close to 80 million worldwide, have a plethora of reasons for developing endothelial damage, being exposed to a spectrum that extends from various medical and surgical interventions to the disease itself.

Surgical intervention in patients with severe glaucoma remains controversial, especially in unilateral cases with a minimally affected fellow eye. Many question the benefit of trabeculectomy in such cases due to high complication rates and prolonged recovery. In this retrospective, non-comparative, interventional case series we aimed to determine the effect of trabeculectomy or combined phaco-trabeculectomy on the visual function of advanced glaucoma patients.

Background: To examine the association between optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) retinal measurements and Parkinson's disease (PD).
Methods: We searched MEDLINE and EMBASE from inception up to November 5th, 2021 for studies examining the differences between OCTA retinal measurements in PD patients and healthy controls. We used the Hartung-Knapp-Sidik-Jonkman random-effects method to combine study-specific standardized mean differences (SMD) in pooled effect estimates and a meta-analytic extension of the E-value metric to quantify the confounding bias capable of nullifying the pooled estimates.
