Background: Hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha (HIF-1α) and its related vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) may play a significant role in atherosclerosis and their targeting is a strategic approach that may affect multiple pathways influencing disease progression. This study aimed to perform a systematic review to reveal current evidence on the role of HIF-1α and VEGF immunophenotypes with other prognostic markers as potential biomarkers of atherosclerosis prognosis and treatment efficacy.

This study aims to investigate whether the regional application of scleral cross-linking (SXL) with ultraviolet A (UVA) and riboflavin in fresh porcine eye globes affects the ocular rigidity as well as its impact on intraocular pressure after an induced acute increase in the volume of intraocular fluid.

Herein, we describe an unusual case of cystoscope damage during a planned laser cystolithotripsy in a 65-year-old male with a previous history of radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer and subsequent serial urethral dilations for bladder neck contracture. Upon crossing the penile urethra without exerting significant pressure, we noticed the cystoscope's distal metallic tip detachment. Therefore, we re-introduced another 22Fr cystoscope and removed the broken part with alligator forceps.

Antimicrobial resistance poses a major threat to human health worldwide and the implementation of antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs), including antimicrobial de-escalation (ADE), is a multifaceted tool for minimizing unnecessary or inappropriate antibiotic exposure. Drug-induced aseptic meningitis represents a significant clinical entity characterized by an inflammatory response of the meninges triggered by specific pharmacological agents. This condition predominantly manifests as a delayed hypersensitivity reaction to a variety of drugs, most notably non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, immune checkpoint inhibitors, and monoclonal antibodies. We report a case of aseptic meningitis in a 54-year-old male presenting with nausea and blurred vision two hours after taking ibuprofen.
