Guidance for engagement in health guideline development: A scoping review.

Background: Health guideline developers engage with interested people and groups to ensure that guidelines and their recommendations are relevant and useful to those who will be affected by them. These 'interest-holders' include patients, payers/purchasers of health services, payers of health research, peer review editors, product makers, programme managers, policymakers, providers, principal investigators, and the public. The Guidelines International Network (GIN) and McMaster University Guideline Development Checklist describes 146 steps of the guideline process organized into 18 topics.

Concurrent and prospective associations of social media usage with binge eating symptoms in early adolescence.

Objective: This study investigated longitudinal relationships between social media usage and binge eating (BE) in early adolescence and explored potential moderating effects of sex and BMI.

Methods: Data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, including 1940 participants aged 11 to 12 years at Wave 1, were analyzed over three annual waves. Social media addiction (SMA) scores and time spent on social media were calculated from self-report questionnaires.

Thyroidectomy without radioiodine in patients with low-risk thyroid cancer: 5 years of follow-up of the prospective randomised ESTIMABL2 trial.

Background: ESTIMABL2, a multicentre randomised phase 3 trial in patients with low-risk differentiated thyroid cancer (ie, pT1am or pT1b, N0 [no evidence of regional nodal involvement] or Nx [involvement of regional lymph nodes that cannot be assessed in the absence of neck dissection]), showed the non-inferiority of a follow-up strategy without radioactive iodine (I) administration compared with a postoperative I administration at 3 years post-randomisation. Here, we report a pre-specified analysis after 5 years of follow-up.

Treatment-related survival patterns in diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma using a historical cohort: A report from the European Society for Pediatric Oncology DIPG/DMG Registry.

Background: Our aim is to investigate the association of treatment with survival in patients with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) by examining 6 historical treatment paths.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from 409 patients with radiologically centrally reviewed DIPG, sourced from the German Society of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology HIT-HGG trial database and the SIOPE-DIPG/DMG Registry. Survival outcomes were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method, and univariable and multivariable Cox proportional hazard models were estimated to study treatment effects.

BK polyomavirus serotype-specific antibody responses in blood donors and kidney transplant recipients with and without new-onset BK polyomavirus-DNAemia: A Swiss Transplant Cohort Study.

BK polyomavirus (BKPyV) causes premature renal failure in 10% to 30% of kidney transplant recipients (KTRs). Current guidelines recommend screening for new-onset BKPyV-DNAemia/nephropathy and reducing immunosuppression to regain BKPyV-specific immune control. Because BKPyV encompasses 4 major genotype (gt)-encoded serotypes (st1,-2,-3,-4), st-specific antibodies may inform the risk and course of BKPyV-DNAemia/nephropathy.

Comparing structure-function relationships in brain networks using EEG and fNIRS.

Identifying relationships between structural and functional networks is crucial for understanding the large-scale organization of the human brain. The potential contribution of emerging techniques like functional near-infrared spectroscopy to investigate the structure-functional relationship has yet to be explored. In our study, using simultaneous Electroencephalography (EEG) and Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) recordings from 18 subjects, we characterize global and local structure-function coupling using source-reconstructed EEG and fNIRS signals in both resting state and motor imagery tasks, as this relationship during task periods remains underexplored.

Mechanisms by which G-patch activators tune the processive multi-tasking ATP-dependent RNA helicase Prp43 (DHX15 in humans) to productively remodel diverse RNA:protein complexes remain elusive. Here, a comparative study between a herein and previously characterized activators, Tma23 and Pxr1, respectively, defines segments that organize Prp43 function during ribosome assembly. In addition to the activating G-patch, we discover an inhibitory segment within Tma23 and Pxr1, I-patch, that restrains Prp43 ATPase activity.

Urine-Xpert Ultra for the diagnosis of tuberculosis in people living with HIV: a prospective, multicentre, diagnostic accuracy study.

Background: Diagnostic delays for tuberculosis are common, with high resultant mortality. Urine-Xpert Ultra (Cepheid) could improve time to diagnosis of tuberculosis disease and rifampicin resistance. We previously reported on lot-to-lot variation of the Fujifilm SILVAMP TB LAM.

An International Factorial Vignette-Based Survey of Intubation Decisions in Acute Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure.

Objectives: Intubation is a common procedure in acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF), with minimal evidence to guide decision-making. We conducted a survey of when to intubate patients with AHRF to measure the influence of clinical variables on intubation decision-making and quantify variability.

Design: Factorial vignette-based survey asking "Would you recommend intubation?" Respondents selected an ordinal recommendation from a 5-point scale ranging from "Definite no" to "Definite yes" for up to ten randomly allocated vignettes.

Background: We aimed to investigate the effect of daily supplemental vitamin D, omega-3s, and a thrice-weekly home exercise program, alone or in combination, on change of appendicular lean muscle mass index (ALMI) and incident sarcopenia in older adults.

Methods: This is a secondary endpoint analysis of a 3-year randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with a 2 × 2 × 2 factorial design among 2157 community-dwelling, healthy adults aged 70 + years, from 2012 to 2018 (DO-HEALTH). Participants were randomized to 2000 IU/d vitamin D and/or 1 g/d marine omega-3s and/or exercise.

Amyloid-PET quantification through the tracer-independent Centiloid (CL) scale has emerged as an essential tool for the accurate measurement of amyloid-β (Aβ) pathology in Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients. The AMYPAD consortium set out to integrate existing literature and recent work from the consortium to provide clinical context-of-use recommendations for the CL scale. Compared to histopathology, visual reads, and cerebrospinal fluid, CL quantification accurately reflects the amount of AD pathology.

In patients diagnosed with B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) or B-non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (B-NHL) relapsing after allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-HCT), it is a standard practice to perform anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy. When collected from the patient after allo-HCT, the produced CAR-T cells are likely to be donor T-cell-derived, creating unknown safety risks due to their potential allo-reactivity. The emerging field of non-invasive brain stimulation in Alzheimer's disease.

Treating cognitive impairment is a holy grail of modern clinical neuroscience. In the past few years, non-invasive brain stimulation is increasingly emerging as a therapeutic approach to ameliorate performance in patients with cognitive impairment and as an augmentation approach in persons whose cognitive performance is within normal limits. In patients with Alzheimer's disease, better understanding of brain connectivity and function has allowed for the development of different non-invasive brain stimulation protocols.

Diffuse pediatric high-grade glioma of methylation-based RTK2A and RTK2B subclasses present distinct radiological and histomolecular features including Gliomatosis cerebri phenotype.

Diffuse pediatric-type high-grade gliomas (pedHGG), H3- and IDH-wildtype, encompass three main DNA-methylation-based subtypes: pedHGG-MYCN, pedHGG-RTK1A/B/C, and pedHGG-RTK2A/B. Since their first description in 2017 tumors of pedHGG-RTK2A/B have not been comprehensively characterized and clinical correlates remain elusive. In a recent series of pedHGG with a Gliomatosis cerebri (GC) growth pattern, an increased incidence of pedHGG-RTK2A/B (n = 18) was observed.
