Azerbaijan is major producer of fruit crops, such as pome and stone fruits, in the Caspian Sea and Caucasus Mountains areas (FAO Stat, 2022). No information is available on the occurrence of apple chlorotic leaf spot virus (ACLSV, genus Trichovirus, family Betaflexiviridae) in the country. Therefore, the main fruit tree production areas in Azerbaijan were surveyed for ACLSV during the 2017-2019 growing seasons by DAS-ELISA using ACLSV reagents (Neogen - Scotland, UK) (Clark and Adams 1977).

During cold acclimation in high-latitude and high-altitude regions, japonica rice develops enhanced cold tolerance, but the underlying genetic basis remains unclear. Here, we identify CTB5, a homeodomain-leucine zipper (HD-Zip) transcription factor that confers cold tolerance at the booting stage in japonica rice. Four natural variations in the promoter and coding regions enhance cold response and transcriptional regulatory activity, enabling the favorable CTB5 allele to improve cold tolerance.

With the aim of enhancing plants' ability to respond to pathogenic fungi, this study focuses on disease resistance genes. We commenced a series of investigations by capitalizing on the pronounced differences in resistance to Fusarium wilt between resistant and susceptible varieties. Through an in-depth exploration of the metabolic pathways that bolster this defense, we identified genes associated with resistance to f.

Stylo () exhibits excellent tolerance to low-phosphate (Pi) availability, but the underlying mechanisms responsible for improving the phosphorus (P) utilization efficiency (PUE) remain unclear. This study employed metabolomics, lipidomics, and gene expression analyses to investigate the differential responses to low-Pi stress between the high-PUE genotype CF047827 and the cultivar Reyan No. 2.

This study aimed to prepare a composite film by blending cross-linked tapioca starch (CLTS) with sodium alginate (SA), silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), and ZnO nanoparticles (ZnOs). The effects of SA, AgNPs, and ZnOs at different concentrations (1-3 wt%) on the mechanical properties, optical properties, thermal stability, and antibacterial activity of cross-linked starch films were also investigated. The structures of the films were examined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.

In plants, microRNAs (miRNAs) participate in complex gene regulatory networks together with the transcription factors (TFs) in response to biotic and abiotic stresses. To date, analyses of miRNAs-induced transcriptome remodeling are at the whole plant or tissue levels. Here, Arabidopsis's ABA-induced single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) is performed at different stages of time points-early, middle, and late.

With the growing attention on green starch modification technologies, this study investigates the regulatory effects of alternating magnetic field treatment on the fine structure and functional properties of pregelatinized cassava starch at different treatment times (10 min, 30 min, 50 min). The results demonstrate that magnetic field treatment not only increased starch cracks and compactness but also promoted molecular chain breakage and reorganization, hydrogen bond formation, and starch recrystallization, thereby enhancing molecular order. Moreover, the treated starch exhibited improved solubility and swelling power, alongside a positive impact on the content of slowly digestible starch.

Arabidopsis MYB transcription factor, AtDUO1 regulates generative cell body (GC) morphogenesis from round to semi and fully elongated forms before pollen mitosis-II (PM II). It was hypothesised that DUO1 might regulate morphogenesis through any of its direct target genes or components of the DUO1-DAZ1 network. The developmental analysis of plants harbouring T-DNA insertions in some DUO1 target genes using light and fluorescence microscopy revealed abnormal GC morphogenesis only in daz1 and daz2, but gcs1, trm16, mapkkk10, mapkkk20, tet11, and tip1 all undergo normal elongation indicating that these target genes have no important roles in morphogenesis or may be redundant.

Stylo (Stylosanthes guianensis) is a tropical legume that exhibits considerable tolerance to manganese (Mn) toxicity, which severely constrains plant growth in acidic soils. To elucidate the Mn detoxification mechanisms in stylo, this study investigated the excess Mn-regulated metabolic profile of stylo roots and examined the role of metabolic enzymes in Mn tolerance. Excess Mn triggered oxidative stress in the two stylo genotypes tested.

Hydrogen peroxide (HO) was used to modify a natural polymer, sesbania gum (SG), to prepare oxidized sesbania gum (OSG) with the aim of investigating the physicochemical properties, antimicrobial activity of polyethylene oxide (PEO), OSG, and ε-poly(lysine) (ε-PL) composite fibre membranes and their applications in fresh-cut mango preservation. The PEO/OSG/ε-PL composite fibre membranes were successfully prepared via solution blow spinning (SBS) technology. The results of a series of characterizations revealed that ε-PL was successfully loaded into the fibrous membranes, exhibited good biocompatibility, and ε-PL was better encapsulated, with the membranes.

As consumer awareness regarding health and nutrition continues to increase, there is a growing demand for fresh, nutritious fruits such as green grapes. However, the short storage life and susceptibility of these fruits to spoilage lead to significant commercial losses. Currently, the plastic wrap method is commonly used to keep green grapes fresh, but this packaging effect is limited and not environmentally friendly.

Litchi (Litchi chinensis), a prominent fruit tree in the Sapindaceae, initiates flowering in response to low autumn and winter temperatures. This study investigates the epigenetic regulation of this process, focusing on the marks histone H3 lysine 27 trimethylation (H3K27me3) and its deposition genes during the chilling-induced floral induction (FId) and initiation stages. Our genomic analysis delineated the H3K27me3 deposition landscape across the prefloral induction (PFId), FId, and floral initiation (FIn) stages.
