Background: The link between Gut microbiota (GM) and Gallstone disease (GSD) is well established, but it is not clear whether there is a causal relationship between the two associations.
Methods: We conducted bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses, leveraging aggregated data from the Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) of GM and Circulating Metabolites. Our primary objective was to investigate the causal interplay between intestinal flora and GSD.

Ethnopharmacology Relevance: Cananga oil (CO) is derived from the flowers of the traditional medicinal plant, the ylang-ylang tree. As a traditional antidepressant, CO is commonly utilized in the treatment of various mental disorders including depression, anxiety, and autism. It is also recognized as an efficient antibacterial insecticide, and has been traditionally utilized to combat malaria and acute inflammatory responses resulting from bacterial infections both in vitro and in vivo.

Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs)-derived hepatocyte-like cells (HLCs) have shown great promise in the treatment of liver diseases. However, most current induction protocols yield hepatocyte-like cells with limited function as compared with primary hepatocytes. Schisandrin B (Sch B) is one of the main components of , which can prevent fibrosis progression and promote liver cell regeneration.

With the extensive use of antibiotics, resulting in increasingly serious problems of bacterial resistance, antimicrobial therapy has become a global concern. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are low-density porous coordination materials composed of metal ions and organic ligands, which can form composite materials with biomacromolecules such as proteins and polysaccharides. In recent years, MOFs and their derivatives have been widely used in the antibacterial field as efficient antibacterial agents.

Liver-associated diseases affect millions of individuals worldwide. In developed countries, the incidence of viral hepatitis is reducing due to advancements in disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. However, with improvements in living standards, the prevalence of metabolic liver diseases, such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and alcohol-related liver disease, is expected to increase; notably, this rise in the prevalence of metabolic liver disease can lead to the development of more severe liver diseases, including liver failure, cirrhosis, and liver cancer.

Unmethylated cytosine-phosphate-guanine (CpG) oligodeoxynucleotides (ODNs), which were therapeutic DNA with high immunostimulatory activity, have been applied in widespread applications from basic research to clinics as therapeutic agents for cancer immunotherapy, viral infection, allergic diseases and asthma since their discovery in 1995. The major factors to consider for clinical translation using CpG motifs are the protection of CpG ODNs from DNase degradation and the delivery of CpG ODNs to the Toll-like receptor-9 expressed human B-cells and plasmacytoid dendritic cells. Therefore, great efforts have been devoted to the advances of efficient delivery systems for CpG ODNs.

As a newly emerging organ transplantation technique, islet transplantation has shown the advantages of minimal trauma and high safety since it was first carried out. The proposal of the Edmonton protocol, which has been widely applied, was a breakthrough in this method. However, direct contact between islets and portal vein blood will cause a robust innate immune response leading to massive apoptosis of the graft, and macrophages play an essential role in the innate immune response.

Disulfidptosis is a recently discovered mode of cell death with a significant role in cancer. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been implicated in numerous biological processes including oncogenesis, invasion, and metastasis. In this work, we developed an lncRNA signature associated with disulfidptosis for prediction of survival of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients.

Background & Aims: The effectiveness of adjuvant immunotherapy to diminish recurrence and improve long-term prognosis following curative-intent surgical resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is of increased interest, especially among individuals at high risk of recurrence. The objective of the current study was to investigate the impact of adjuvant immunotherapy on long-term recurrence and survival after curative resection among patients with intermediate/advanced HCC.
Methods: Using a prospectively-collected multicenter database, patients who underwent curative-intent resection for Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage B/C HCC were identified.

Background: Although a correlation between immune cell phenotypes and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has been established, a causal relationship remains unestablished.
Methods: To assess causal associations between immune cell phenotypes and IBD and its subtypes, we employed Mendelian randomization (MR) methods and genome-wide association studies (GWAS) summary statistics. The primary outcomes were determined based on the inverse variance weighting (IVW) results, with the assessment of heterogeneity and pleiotropy conducted through Cochrane's Q-test and MR-Egger.

Background: Breast cancer is one of the most serious and prevalent malignancies. Zinc is commonly known to play a crucial role in the development and progression of breast cancer; however, the detailed mechanisms underlying this role are not well understood. This study aimed to develop a zinc metabolism-related gene (ZMRG) signature based on a multi-database study to predict patient prognosis and investigate the relationship between drug therapy response and immune enrichment.

The purpose of this study was to explore the value of the "improved double purse-string suture method" for pancreatojejunostomy in laparoscopic pancreaticoduodene-ctomy. The clinical data of 273 patients who underwent laparoscopic pancreaticoduode-nectomy in the Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery of the First Hospital of Jilin University from January 2021 to May 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the method of pancreaticoenteric anastomosis, the patients were divided into two groups: the "improved double purse-string suture method" group and the "Hong's one-stitch method" group.

Background: Robotic-assisted total mesorectal excision (RaTME) may be associated with reduced conversion to an open approach and a higher rate of complete total mesorectal excision (TME); however, studies on its advantages in intersphincteric resection (ISR) are inadequate.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective multicenter cohort study enroled consecutive patients who underwent RaTME and laparoscopy-assisted total mesorectal excision (LaTME) at four medical centres between January 2020 and March 2023. Propensity score matching (PSM), inverse probability of treatment weight (IPTW), and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed.

Background: Male patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) tend to have poorer prognosis compared to females, partially attributable to a higher rate of lymph node metastasis (LNM). Developing a precise predictive model for LNM occurrence in male PTC patients is imperative. While preliminary predictive models exist, there is room to improve accuracy.
