Floodlight Open was a global, open-access, digital-only study designed to understand the drivers and barriers in deployment and use of a smartphone app in a naturalistic setting and broad study population of people with and without multiple sclerosis (MS). The study utilised the Floodlight Open app: a 'bring-your-own-device' solution that remotely measures a user's mood, cognition, hand motor function, and gait and postural stability via smartphone sensor-based tests requiring active user input ('active tests'). Levels of mobility of study participants ('life-space measurement') were passively measured.

The Cerebellar Cognitive Affective/Schmahmann Syndrome (CCAS) manifests as impaired executive control, linguistic processing, visual spatial function, and affect regulation. The CCAS has been described in the spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs), but its prevalence is unknown. We analyzed results of the CCAS/Schmahmann Scale (CCAS-S), developed to detect and quantify CCAS, in two natural history studies of 309 individuals Symptomatic for SCA1, SCA2, SCA3, SCA6, SCA7, or SCA8, 26 individuals Pre-symptomatic for SCA1 or SCA3, and 37 Controls.

Phosphomannomutase deficiency (PMM2-CDG) leads to cerebellar atrophy with ataxia, dysmetria, and intellectual deficits. Despite advances in therapy, the cognitive and adaptive profile remains unknown. Our study explores the adaptive profile of 37 PMM2-CDG patients, examining its association with parental stress and medical characteristics.

Currently, severe environmental issues have led to a great transition in the automotive industry from internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles, but this transition will take time more than 10 years, which still requires the use of internal combustion engine vehicles. However, these vehicles emit a significant amount of hydrocarbons, in addition to nitrogen oxides (NO), due to incomplete fuel combustion. They contribute to the formation of photochemical smog when they react with NO in the presence of sunlight.

Accurate occupant injury prediction in near-collision scenarios is vital in guiding intelligent vehicles to find the optimal collision condition with minimal injury risks. Existing studies focused on boosting prediction performance by introducing deep-learning models but encountered computational burdens due to the inherent high model complexity. To better balance these two traditionally contradictory factors, this study proposed a training method for pre-crash injury prediction models, namely, knowledge distillation (KD)-based training.

Background: The Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Upper Extremity (FMA-UE) is a widely used outcome measure for quantifying motor impairment in stroke recovery. Meaningful change (responsiveness) in the acute to subacute phase of stroke recovery has not been determined.
Objective: Determine responsiveness and sensitivity to change of the FMA-UE from 1-week to 6-weeks (subacute) after stroke in individuals with moderate to severe arm impairment who received standard clinical care.

Background: KIF2A-related tubulinopathy (MIM: #615411) is a very rare disorder that was clinically characterized as microcephaly, epilepsy, motor developmental disorder (MDD), and various malformations of cortical development, but intellectual disability (ID) or global developmental delay (GDD) was rarely reported in the patients.
Methods: Quad whole-exome sequencing (WES) was performed on the proband, the older brother, and their parents. Sanger sequencing was used to verify the candidate gene variant.

Study Design: Nine university-affiliated neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) enrolled infants born at <30 weeks of gestation. Infants underwent the NICU Network Neurobehavioral Scale examination before discharge and the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, Third Edition, the Child Behavior Checklist, and the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, revised with follow-up (M-CHAT-R/F) at 2 years of corrected age.

Background: The Modified Rush Video-Based Tic Rating Scale (MRVS) is the most widely used video-based scale for assessing tic severity in patients with Tourette syndrome (TS). However, shortcomings of the MRVS, including a lack of clear instructions, a time-consuming recording procedure, and weak correlations with the gold standard for tic assessment, the Yale Global Tic Severity Scale-Total Tic Score (YGTSS-TTS), limits its use in research settings, although video assessments are generally considered objective, reliable, and time-saving measurements.
Objectives: We aimed to revise the MRVS (MRVS-R) to simplify and standardize the assessment procedure and improve the correlation with the YGTSS-TTS.

Introduction: Intramedullary spinal cord tumors (IMSCTs) are rare but clinically significant entities that may cause severe neurological decline with progressive pain and motor or sensory deterioration. Beyond the beneficial effects of surgical treatment and the long-term progression-free survival, neurological deficits may still persist after surgery, and information about the long-term patients' health-related quality of life (QoL) is still lacking. In this study, we investigate the patients' health perception 15 years after the surgery in an overall patients' wellbeing framework.

The clinical manifestations are mainly characterized by chronic multiple movements, rapid muscle twitching, involuntary occurrence, and language disorder. Acupuncture, tuina, traditional Chinese medicine, and other methods are commonly used in clinical treatments, which have unique therapeutic advantages but have not been recognized and accepted by the international community.

Non-exercise physical activity (NEPA), also called unstructured or informal physical activity, refers to those daily activities that require movement of the human body without planning or strict control of the physical effort made. Due to new technologies and motorized transportation devices, the general population has significantly decreased its NEPA. This increase in sedentary lifestyles, physical inactivity, and excessive energy intake is considered a risk factor for obesity, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and all-cause mortality.

Objective: A total of 48% of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) present symptoms of gastrointestinal dysfunction, particularly constipation. Furthermore, gastrointestinal tract (GIT)-related non-motor symptoms (NMSs) appear at all stages of PD, can be prodromal by many years and have a relevant impact on the quality of life. There is a lack of GIT-focused validated tools specific to PD to assess their occurrence, progress, and response to treatment.

In the last two decades, antisense oligonucleotides (AONs) that induce corrective exon skipping have matured as promising therapies aimed at tackling the dystrophin deficiency that underlies the severe and progressive muscle fiber degeneration in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) patients. Pioneering first generation exon 51 skipping AONs like drisapersen and eteplirsen have more recently been followed up by AONs for exons 53 and 45, with, to date, a total of four exon skipping AON drugs having reached (conditional) regulatory US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for DMD. Nonetheless, considering the limited efficacy of these drugs, there is room for improvement.

Rett syndrome (RTT) is a rare and severe neurological disorder mainly affecting females, usually linked to methyl-CpG-binding protein 2 (MECP2) gene mutations. Manifestations of RTT typically include loss of purposeful hand skills, gait and motor abnormalities, loss of spoken language, stereotypic hand movements, epilepsy, and autonomic dysfunction. Patients with RTT have a higher incidence of sudden death than the general population.

Background: In Kenya, long-distance truck drivers (LDTDs) using the Northern Corridor highway have a high prevalence of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) due to their risky sexual networks. However, the spatial distribution of the sexual network locations used by LDTDs is not well understood. Consequently, healthcare stakeholders have found it difficult to provide spatially targeted HIV/STI interventions among LDTDs.
