Background: Whether neuromuscular block (NMB) affects Intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) and cognition in Prostate cancer (PC) patients with Robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALRP) remains unclear. Here we aimed to compare the effects of deep and moderate NMB on the IAP, inflammation, and cognition.

Methods: The Moderate neuromuscular block (MNMB) group (N = 44) and Deep neuromuscular block (DNMB) group (N = 47) were recruited.

FGF15 Protects Septic Mice by Inhibiting Inflammation and Modulating Treg Responses.

J Inflamm Res

November 2022

Department of Anesthesiology, The First School of Clinical Medicine, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, People's Republic of China.

Background: Fibroblast growth factor 15 (FGF15) through its FGF-receptor (FGFR)-4 inhibits hepatic inflammation. The current study aimed at investigating whether FGF15 could inhibit septic inflammation and its compensative regulatory T cell (Treg) responses in a mouse sepsis model of cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) and in vitro transwell co-culture.

Methods: Following the sham or CLP procedure, male CLP C57BL/6 mice were intravenously injected with vehicle saline or FGF15 beginning at 2 h post the procedure every 12 h for three days.

High concentration of serum FGF19 at ICU admission is associated with 28-day mortality in sepsis patients.

Clin Chim Acta

December 2021

The First Clinical College of Southern Medical University, No. 1838, North Guangzhou Avenue, Guangzhou 510515, Guangdong Province, China; Department of Anesthesiology, General Hospital of The Southern Theater Command of The Chinese PLA, No. 111 Liuhua Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. Electronic address:

Background: Sepsis remains associated with a high mortality rate despite recent advances in treatment. Traditional biomarkers are inadequate for stratification of patients by sepsis severity. We examined use of the baseline concentration of fibroblast growth factor 19 (FGF19) in predicting 28-day mortality from sepsis.

MicroRNA-214-5p involves in the protection effect of Dexmedetomidine against neurological injury in Alzheimer's disease via targeting the suppressor of zest 12.

Brain Res Bull

January 2022

The first clinical college of Southern Medical University, Guangzhou 430060, Guangdong Province, China; Department of Anesthesiology, General Hospital of the Southern Theater Command of the Chinese PLA, Guangzhou 510010, Guangdong Province, China. Electronic address:

Objective: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurological disease. Dexmedetomidine (Dex) has been evidenced to exert neuroprotective effects on multiple neurological diseases, while the function of microRNA(miR)- 214-5p on Dex-mediated AD progression via targeting the suppressor of zest 12 (SUZ12) remains unclear. This study obligates to investigate the regulatory functions of Dex, miR-214-5p and SUZ12 on AD.

Objective: The objective is to compare the effect of general anesthesia (GA) and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) on clinical outcomes in patients with endovascular therapy for vertebrobasilar occlusion stroke.

Methods: 139 patients undergoing endovascular therapy for vertebrobasilar stroke, were recruited. The patients were randomized into GA group and MAC group (about 1:1 ratio).
