Biased µ-opioid receptor (MOR) agonists enhance pain relief by selectively activating G protein-coupled receptor signaling and minimizing β-arrestin-2 activation, resulting in fewer side effects. This multicenter Phase II/III trial evaluated the optimal dosage, efficacy, and safety of SHR8554, a biased MOR agonist, for postoperative pain management following orthopedic surgery. In Phase II, 121 patients were divided into four groups to receive varying patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) doses of SHR8554 or morphine.

Background: Early prediction of delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) is critical to improving the prognosis of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). Machine learning (ML) algorithms can learn from intricate information unbiasedly and facilitate the early identification of clinical outcomes. This study aimed to construct and compare the ability of different ML models to predict DCI after aSAH.

Background: Severe degenerative mitral regurgitation (DMR) can cause a poor prognosis if left untreated. For patients considered at prohibitive surgical risk, transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) has become an accepted alternative therapy. The DragonFly transcatheter valve repair system is an innovative evolution of the mitral TEER device family to treat DMR.

Toward the Internet of Medical Things: Architecture, trends and challenges.

Math Biosci Eng

January 2024

Department of Game Design, Faculty of Arts, Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden.

In recent years, the growing pervasiveness of wearable technology has created new opportunities for medical and emergency rescue operations to protect users' health and safety, such as cost-effective medical solutions, more convenient healthcare and quick hospital treatments, which make it easier for the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) to evolve. The study first presents an overview of the IoMT before introducing the IoMT architecture. Later, it portrays an overview of the core technologies of the IoMT, including cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence, and it elucidates their utilization within the healthcare system.

Background: To investigate the protective effects of exosomes extracted from splenic ischemic preconditioning (sIPC) models on renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI).

Methods: sIPC was conducted on mice before renal IRI, and exosomes derived from sIPC mice were infused into a mouse model of renal IRI. The kidney tissue and serum were collected 24 h later.

Centre de Recherche en Information Biomédicale Sino-Francais, Inserm, University of Rennes 1, 35042, Rennes, France.

Article Synopsis
  • A new method called MAPNet is introduced for accurately identifying rib fractures using deep learning and multi-angle projection images, addressing challenges in segmentation from 3D CT scans.
  • MAPNet includes specialized modules to extract rib characteristics and fracture features, helping improve the accuracy and detail of the segmentation compared to existing methods.
  • The technique shows promising results with high accuracy and performance metrics, making it a valuable tool for clinical diagnosis of rib fractures without compromising data quality.

Electronic address:

Automatic detection of arrhythmia through an electrocardiogram (ECG) is of great significance for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. In Convolutional neural network, the ECG signal is converted into multiple feature channels with equal weights through the convolution operation. Multiple feature channels can provide richer and more comprehensive information, but also contain redundant information, which will affect the diagnosis of arrhythmia, so feature channels that contain arrhythmia information should be paid attention to and given larger weight.
