In the field of ophthalmology, orbital fat prolapse under the upper eyelid is less recognized than subconjunctival orbital fat prolapse. Despite its occasional occurrence in clinical practice, this condition is often inadequately understood and incorrectly classified due to its subtle manifestations and the limited number of focused studies. Typically affecting young patients, the prolapse is located subcutaneously in the mid-upper eyelid, resulting in a pseudo-occlusion.

Introduction: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are currently the most widely used anti-inflammatory medications, but their long-term use can cause damage to the gastrointestinal tract(GIT). One of the risk factors for GIT injury is exposure to a high-altitude hypoxic environment, which can lead to damage to the intestinal mucosal barrier. Taking NSAIDs in a high-altitude hypoxic environment can exacerbate GIT injury and impact gut microbiota.

3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), commonly known as ecstasy, is one of the most widely used illicit substances worldwide. MDMA-assisted psychotherapy has become a novel treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and many randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have been performed over the past decade. Therefore, this study aimed to systematically review and demonstrate the efficacy and safety of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for the treatment of PTSD.

Liver and lung tissue damage caused by sepsis is still one of the causes of death. B-lymphocyte-induced maturation protein-1 (Blimp-1) has a protective role in inflammation-related disease. However, whether Blimp-1 can regulate cell pyroptosis and affect disease progression in sepsis is still unclear.

Bone metastasis secondary to breast cancer negatively impacts patient quality of life and survival. The treatment of bone metastases is challenging since many anticancer drugs are not effectively delivered to the bone to exert a therapeutic effect. To improve the treatment efficacy, we developed Pluronic P123 (P123)-based polymeric micelles dually decorated with alendronate (ALN) and cancer-specific phage protein DMPGTVLP (DP-8) for targeted drug delivery to breast cancer bone metastases.

Parasite-specific CD4 Th1 cell responses are the predominant immune effector for controlling malaria infection; however, the underlying regulatory mechanisms remain largely unknown. This study demonstrated that ATG5 deficiency in myeloid cells can significantly inhibit the growth of rodent blood-stage malarial parasites by selectively enhancing parasite-specific CD4 Th1 cell responses. This effect was independent of ATG5-mediated canonical and non-canonical autophagy.

Background: Studies on the factors affecting vault after posterior chamber phakic Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) have been carried out, but most of them are single-centered and subjective selections of parameters. The present study aimed to systematically analyze the factors for vault.

Methods: A systematic review of case series, case-control, and cohort studies derived from the articles published in PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, CNKI, CBM, Wanfang and VIP, as well as ClinicalTrials, which were conducted to search for studies on factors of vault using four core terms: phakic intraocular lenses, vault, risk factor and observational study, from January 01, 1997, to February 20, 2023.

Background: Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) arises from the imbalance of host T cells. Galectin-9 negatively regulates CD4 effector T cell (Th1 and Th17) function by binding to Tim-3. However, the relationship between Galectin-9/Tim-3 and CD4 T subsets in patients with aGVHD after Haplo-HSCT (haploidentical peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transplantation) has not been fully elucidated.

Background: Injectable bone cement is commonly used in clinical orthopaedics to fill bone defects, treat vertebral compression fractures, and fix joint prostheses during joint replacement surgery. Poly(propylene fumarate) (PPF) has been proposed as a biodegradable and injectable alternative to polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bone cement. Recently, there has been considerable interest in two-dimensional (2D) black phosphorus nanomaterials (BPNSs) in the biomedical field due to their excellent photothermal and osteogenic properties.

Objective: The traditional volar approach requires the release of the pronator quadratus (PQ) muscle in the treatment of distal radius fractures. However, intraoperative repair of the PQ muscle often fails due to tissue injury and unstable muscle repair. This study compared the outcomes of different methods of sparing the PQ muscle combined with the volar plate in treating distal radius fractures.

Rationale: The Descemet layer is a dense layer of tissue that does not detach under normal circumstances. Descemet layer detachment may occur after intraocular surgery, but the Descemet layer spontaneously detached after trauma in this child, which is relatively rare. After looking for the cause, we found that the child was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma, and the trauma induced the Descemet's membrane detachment.
