Technical Issues of Vim-PSA Double-Target DBS for Essential Tremor.

Brain Sci

March 2023

Department of Functional Neurosurgery, Zhujiang Hospital, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou 510280, China.

Background: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is an effective surgical treatment for essential tremor (ET), with the ventral intermediate nucleus (Vim) and posterior subthalamic area (PSA) as the most common targets. The stimulation efficacy of ET with Vim-PSA double-target DBS has been reported. Herein, we aim to propose surgical techniques for Vim-PSA double-target DBS surgery.

The objective is to explore the role of astrocytic transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) in glial phenotype transformation in neuroinflammation after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Wild-type astrocytes and TRPA1-/- astrocytes were subjected to 6-h hemin treatment, and the calcium ions and transcriptome sequencing were assessed. A mouse autologous blood injection ICH model was established to evaluate the proliferation and phenotypes of astrocytes and microglia around the hematoma.

Cyclophilin D-induced mitochondrial impairment confers axonal injury after intracerebral hemorrhage in mice.

Neural Regen Res

April 2023

Department of Neurosurgery and State Key Laboratory of Trauma, Burn and Combined Injury, Southwest Hospital; Chongqing Key Laboratory of Precision Neuromedicine and Neuroregenaration, Third Military Medical University (Army Medical University), Chongqing, China.

The mitochondrial permeability transition pore is a nonspecific transmembrane channel. Inhibition of mitochondrial permeability transition pore opening has been shown to alleviate mitochondrial swelling, calcium overload, and axonal degeneration. Cyclophilin D is an important component of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore.

Background: Our previous work showed that miR-10b was overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and promoted HCC cell migration and invasion. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is involved in HCC metastasis. So, we suspected that miR-10b might participate in the HCC EMT.

Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) is known to promote tumor migration and invasion. Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are members of the TGF-β family expressed in a variety of human carcinoma cell lines. Although accumulating evidence has shown that BMP9 plays important roles in the regulation of various cellular processes, the function of BMP9 in clinical osteosarcoma remains to be explored.
